the software for the gesture control is probably years away. Omni-tool is much more than that. We have no holopgraphics and nothing like the hardware for the all the functions.

Interesting controller; using the muscle contractions in the forearm to deduce actions. Wonder how much one costs?

It's on their website: 149$, ships late 2013. I don't know what functionality will work right out of the box. Seems they will put out an SDK so developers can adapt their software to it.

They probably got how one trigger Incinerates and all that stuff with omni-tools in the MEU, but without the haptic-interface, I wouldn't start comparing it.

Still impressive tech, though.

Very true indeed; however, I find the principle behind this product intriquing.

Look at it this way, we are one step closer to a working Omni tool. I know I would gladly chop off my left... ...oh wait, big toe to have a fully functional Omni Tool.

Granted, it is still a long ways away from becoming a viable Omni Tool. Without the micro-fabricator, the holographic interface, ect this product is merely a neat wireless control unit. Despite that fact, it isn't going to stop me from ordering one of my own.  Image IPB
