i'll throw up a shield if

a)  I'm in risk of actually dying
B)  The hallway is big enough that my teammates can step to the side to shoot around it.
c)  I hear teammates yelling "Shields down!"
d)  To the side to block distant fire so I don't get flanked while dealing with the boss in front of me.

Otherwise...people need to learn to stop being lazy and just step to the side to shoot around the shield.

I recently spent an entire game trying to trap a Juggernaut in the Reactor core because he kept doing this.

HM>Drop shield>rinse and repeat. If you drop a shield between HM there is a reduced "cooldown" between how often you can HM. I do use a small shield for this though.

When I'm in a group though, I try to refrain from shielding unless I see some sort of barrage unit placing itself to blast me with a Rocket or Cannon.

If people were only that aware of their teammates.

is it really that hard for you to move elsewhere and flank? :|

I don't pop the shield out for bosses (doesn't make a ton of sense since it will be destroyed pretty quickly, and you're getting your shields replenished anyway - I only put 3 points into hex anyway), but when I am zapzapzap meleeing a boss I would hope my teammates will either; move around to the back side of the boss to help take it down while I distract it, or go get rid of all the nearby little guys while I hold the boss at bay.

i spec out of the turret personally. i go full tank and use the shield for sift cover. its great for bosses. epscially atlasses since it'll tank their miissile and a few bursts of their gun then you redeploy. w/o it you can't tank an atls w/o your melee. this way i can sustain fire on it.

Exactly not like he can take cover, like all those who complain about his shield can.

people shuold nto spec into large shield thats the issue IMO

full tnak mode and also the shield gives you a 10% damage boost when deployed

Or you can do HM>Drop Turret>rinse and repeat. Dropping the turret will replenish your shields even more.

Just doing light melee in between heavy melee does the same thing, it seems.  That's what I've been doing to reduce cooldown on heavy melee.  It also knocks smaller enemies (dragoons, husks, marauders, cannibals, phantoms, pyros, rockets, troopers, etc) away in a full radius as an added bonus.

"flanking is for noobs/scrubs" seems to be the general attitude around here.

About the only time I throw up the shield is to save my ass, or to get some privacy so I can have a little quality, one on one time with a boss. Considering what I put up with from other players, e.g., stepping in front of me to get a kill, rocketing a spawn on wave 11 after refusing to use one previously, not gelling on objective waves, not helping with objectives, taking the scenic route when carrying the pizza, etc, etc, it seems like it's not too much for them to deal with my occasional use of the shield.

D'awwwww...

Regarding the drop Shield/Turret HM thing, I do both. Generally whichever one needs replenishing most.

I always do it, since you have to wait a moment for the HM cooldown anyway, and it sometimes restarts the cooldown on the turret's shield restore function, too (not to mention they've often taken damage in the meantime, if you're surrounded.)

Reaper threat levels for non-Juggernaut teammates when defensive Juggernaut is present:
Ravager/Banshee at melee range
Brute at melee range
Banshee at distance
Marauder
Husk/Swarmer while in cover
Cannibal
Husk/Swarmer while out of cover
Brute engaged by Juggernaut
Banshee engaged by Juggernaut

Hex Shield is irrelevant. If the Banshee is being engaged by a Juggernaut, it is the least dangerous thing to you on the entire battlefield and you should be searching the firebase for higher priority targets that still present a danger instead of trying to score-**** picking off the expensive mobs around the Juggernaut.
If a Brute or Banshee are attacking a Juggernaut, ignore them. If the Juggernaut is even half awake not even multiple Banshees or Brutes present much of a danger. What IS a danger is all those mooks shooting at him, depleting his shields much faster than the bosses can do alone. Go do something about them.

I don't think the shield gives enemies more shields! ? Anyway -- the jug's my favorite character to play but I never do this.  I'll choke banshees but not put a shield first. I just use the shield to protect myself once in a while.

(Jug = favorite mainly 'cause my Typhoon's my best leveled weapon & it works well with him)

I do: HM >shield pulse> HM > etc.  I want teammates to shoot my victims.

I generally do throw up the shield when fighting Banshees... but if I know where my team is, I -do- try to place it so that it doesn't block their fire. Or so that it blocks incoming fire from ranged mooks.

A Jugg that's not using the hex shield isn't using all the tools they have available.

One of your older posts convinced me to drop turret from my build. Besides, the hex shield is something new and exciting :wizard:

yeah i don't really see the turret as majorly usefull on him.
I have a weapon to kill with, a shoeld that does damage and protechs me and gives me a damage boost, and siege pulse for 40% DR and the baility to set off TEs with.

Did you ever think of walking to the OTHER SIDE of the shield? The shield does DOT and provides more cover then you think. I apply it to the right side of a corridor ad stand my Juggy ass on the left. That way it creates a bottleneck. My teammates, one with a flamer, fires through me. Rinse and repeat.

Maybe don't try and kill the bosses that are being kept busy, instead kill all of the things trying to eat away at the Jugg's shield that is holding back all of the insta killers. My shield protects me better than some squadmates, but then there are also people that get it and we make money really easy

There are only two reasons for me to throw one up:

- I know my team is the "I'll abandon you since you seem to have everything under control" type. Nothing more irritating than that as you can get overwhelmed, especially on open maps.

- Have to pull from a hot spot where you're taking so much constant damage that you need to pull back to a better location.

Ravagers and Scions are irritatingly good at firing salvos during my heavy melee delay as a Jugg.
