If we had a Grey Warden in the party, ideally I would like Nathaniel or Stroud (minus tache), mainly because he has the same VA as Riordan!
For party members, I would love it if Shale returned (she was in Asunder), get to know more about the dwarf inside, Varric and I hope we get another Dog. I quite like Charade from DA2. Overall though, I would like Cullen as a companion, only because he could add a lot to the story due to his previous history.
As for NPCs - I guess that any of them could turn up (if not already dead) in a cameo role, but in terms of story I think Sebastian would be good as the issues in Starkhaven still need to be resolved.
What companions from Origins, Awakening and 2 do you wanna see in Inquisition?

I think all new cast is best. Especially if the writer changes, they sort of have a different brain. They are not the same at all as you remembered them from a previous game and it does not work well.
But if they can reappear intact...then most anyone. I enjoyed all the past companions so whatever.
My warden would love to meet up with Justice again and shake some sense into him! grrr lol

Also doesn't Wynn start the Mage/Templar war NO MATTER WHAT after DA2 even if you kill her in Origins (through a book or something?)

Wait, so BW's book canon is more important that people's game canon?
Nice
No. That isn't the case at all.
If your game happens to allow the book canon, then I imagine the book's events will be mentioned in your game pretty much in tact. If you're game DOESN'T allow the book canon, I imagine there'll be changes to what happens to that story and those changes will be mentioned in your game. Bioware has said they'll never make it MANDATORY to read the books to understand what happens, and if any 'book events' come up they will properly be mentioned and explained. So if you killed Wynne in your canon game, then the events will be changed to reflect that, though I imagine the core events with her son and the war and such will remain.
Edit: typos, typos everywhere.
So you say. And so they said.
Yet Leliana is alive, even though some people killed her in DAO, because BW wants her to be. Anders could have died at the end of DAA, yet he's alive and well in DA2. He could never have been recruited, yet he's a GW. He may never have met Justice, yet he's possessed by him in DA2. See where I'm going here?
Wynne died in this book (that I have not read, and have no desire to read, having slogged through Stolen Throne and being unable to get that time back in my life) . . .will she appear in DAI? And if not, wil the reason be because she died in the book, or because she "doesn't fit the story"?
I think they explained both Leliana and Ander's appearances (or reappearances, as the case might be) rather well, considering, but that's my opinion. Asunder is also a fantastic read, but that's my opinion again. All I can say is what I've seen Bioware say, and I'm willing to forgive some handwaving in the case of Origins, as I'd bet they didn't have a sequal in mind back then unlike now. *shrug*
I don't recall any explanation beyond Anders claiming he faked his death. No explanation for him being a GW if you rejected him in DAA, or meeting Justice under the same circumstances. Nothing for Leliana beyond a simple "no, I'm not dead".
And yes, they did plan on a sequel back when DAO was released.

In DAO I loved Alistair greatly. However, I think I would like Shale or Zevran as companions. Mostly I'd like to see Zevran.
DAO/Awakening Oghren was pretty amazing. I was disappointed in the lack of conversation options in DA-A . Oghren's banter was always classic. It would be great to see Oghren banter with Isabela. He talks a raunchy game but when a woman gets overtly sexual he just stutters. LOL
As for DAII? Isabela would be fun. If he was less "Arg, I'm bitter. Mages suck" and had more personality and vulnerability I wouldn't mind seeing Fenris. He was too one dimensional for me in DAII, I would like to see more of the personality hinted at in the game. I think he would have felt more fleshed out if we had more ability to interact with our companions. Isabela forced her personality on you so there was never any mystery where she was concerned.

I would love to have Morrigan back from Origins. Sigrun from Awakening and Varric from Two.
