Hey, Ottemis -
A question. Have you considered the "PCC replacement" method to circumvent the neverending mod breakage that can occur using ME3Explorer? It sounds like a better solution - if it is one - or is it just a giant pain in the keelah?

It is a really, really bad idea. PCC mods are not inherently compatible with other mods, which means you'll either always have to apply them before any other mods, cannot combine them with PCC mods for the same PCC files and are not compatible with content mods (that affect the same PCC files).
Aside from that, they are redundant. Why would you provide a replacement mod in PCC form replacing potentially thousands of objects when your mod effectively only affects a handful. This is really only a viable option for content mods as they simply have no other choice. For me to release PCC mods would be like stabbing myself and the rest of the modding community in the back as I would make modding even less user-friendly and intermixable.
I am fine releasing tpf's for texture only mods and .mods for combination and mesh mods. The toolset has also come to a point where the modding script and pathing is extremely unlikely to still change which means .mods are very unlikely to break from this point onwards.
Added KFreon has done his finest to bring back and preserve backwards compatibility after the recent change, it's not flawless but it did help an ton in the transition to the current method.

Coolness. Weren't casting no aspersions onto nobody. Just curiosity. Thanks for taking the time to 'splain it. ![]()
Yeah sorry about the intensity there haha. I'm clearly not a PCC mod advocate lol. Anywhose, no problem!
Hey Ottemis, just wanted to say that I love your textures! One of my biggest pet peeves is bad graphics. I've noticed that you don't take many requests for textures, but I was just curious if it was possible for you to do a recolor of Ash's Alternate armor similar to her pink/white phoenix armor from ME1? It would go great with the Ashley Legacy Project. ![]()

That is not a bad idea at all! To be honest the reason I don't take requests is that these are such a timesink I need to really WANT to do something before I'm motivated to consistently stick the time in, they are full retextures in the end. So people are free to ask, it's just not likely I will fill a request unless I really like the idea of something and it's not been done before.
Having said that, recolours really don't take that much effort when I've already done a re-texture of said armor as I've got a PSD file with separated material sections already. I'll have a look at my earliest convenience =) I confess I stick Wrex in phoenix every time I play ME1. I might have a problem.

heh heh poor Wrex, at least he's secure in his, um, maleness. ![]()
I actually am preparing another playthrough because i've installed High-Res textures for all three games and now they look AMAZING!! And it would be really awesome if you could do it. If you want to add the "ME2-Style" stripes you can, but as long as the main color is white and secondary is the pink/light magenta I won't complain haha ![]()
Edit: Also, on another note (pure curiosity) I have found high-res textures for EDI's Default, Black Alternate, and AAP but no From Ashes from anybody. Any particular reason why? I'm OCD and if I don't have a whole set I'm going to go nuts. It's like listening to music, I can't have just a couple songs I have to have the whole album..lol
Hey before you recolor the armor, I plan on releasing a mod that will actually use the original armor in a day or two. Maybe if you just did a hi-res of that texture.
Still a work in progress

I've been sitting on a nigh complete version of the From Ashes (white/blue) for EDI for a while, good that you mentioned it.. I'll have to have a look soon and see about pushing it out. It'd be a combined mesh and texture mod from me though as I changed the wrap on the black alternate similarly, removed the cameltoe and reduced the boobs to a size more inline with the default and AAP armor.I actually am preparing another playthrough because i've installed High-Res textures for all three games and now they look AMAZING!! What's the current pipeline Ottemis? Love your stuff ![]()
I used the model from ME1 that I slightly modded for the neck, with the texture from ME2 which are pretty good to begin with. The Norm could be better and I am working on the Spec file but it is not great. I was going to use it to replace Ash's Blue dress, but this is one of those DXT5 with the alpha layers. I think that is why it doesn't look great yet. I will upload it shortly for you to look at.
Here is the file, take a look at it. I don't think it really needs that much work if any. If you don't feel like dealing with it that is fine. If anyone wants to use it feel free. I may do a Selection Screen for this armor as well.

@bomma72
Its seems that great minds think alike. I too have also got an Ash pack MOD set going. Which PCC are you replacing?
Also your post makes me conflicted. A part of me admires the return of her ME-1 style armour mod, but another part of me is jealous that another epic Ash modder is on the scene as well.
@Getorex
Just thought I'd reduce the pressure on you to test the mods. So I'd post the mods on general forums for testing.
I would appreciate it, if someone gave me a heads-up whether the instructions make sense and how well the MOD files work.
My modset:
- Removes the ridiculous faceshield from the typhoon
- Replaces the horrendous blue 'suit' with Getorex's piece (credit to Getorex) whilst on Normandy
- Replaces the horrendous blue suit' with the Ajax suit alliance texture (Tarkov33's Spectre Ajax Textures and Getorex's epic helmet)
- Replaces the horrible pink suit with the a custom texture and hazard armour from ME1 (a call back to the suits of ME1 and uses Getorex's face mod)
As always make backups.

If all goes well, I should be able to post the files on Nexus Mods sometime this weekend
By the way here is what the results should look like.
Ashley armors work in game, but am right now struggling through creating a squad preview image for them. My filleting skills are crap.

Hey, I actually was working on the Ajax armor tonight. Ha Ha, The old style armor is beautiful, I may just give up on the Ajax and use that when you release it! That must have been a pain in the A-- to get the texture right. As far as the selection screen take a look at my thread where I used the spector armor, I am about to release that. Maybe you could get some help there, as far as the pose. If you need help with the photo-shop I could lend a hand.
@Bomma72
To be honest, Getorex deserves a lot of the credit for that one. He re-did the bones and then passed on how to edit the bones properly in order to transfer the Ajax mesh over. Without his help I'd think I would have given up a long time ago.
Glad to hear that you like it. Would love to know whether or not it worked on your system and if the instructions made sense.

Hey Ottemis, don't be too hard on survivor_686, I didn't take offense, think he is just excited about his mod is all. I agree that having non-modders test would be better. I would just post it here or on Nexus and ask for feedback.
As far as the Ashley armor goes, it is really up to you if you want to do it. I am going to do the select screen and then release as is, if you want to do the texture feel free. The only reason I asked in the first place is because I thought it would easier then a default redo, but if it is going to take you away from your current projects it is not worth it just to do it for me personally.
@Ottemis
Sorry if I came across a little rude. I was too caught up in the excitement of releasing a mod. Sorry to have spammed your boards
It appears I mislabeled the uniform mod. You will be credited accordingly.
Ottemis, any texture you do I know will be wonderful so adding it to my mod would be an honor.
As you can tell I am a big fan.
Now if you really want to know what I think would be cool, that would be for you to rework the default models so that you could change there color via the selection screen as I have shown in my Female Mod Resource. Frankly I think you are the only one who could do it, and it would add a whole new aspect to Tex-modding, but that is nether here nor there.
