I use FFA (metal scratch, fabric, carbon etc) textures downloaded from the internet for all my retextures.

Without going into the material itself, specmap modding boils down to trial and error. As the specmap channels are essentially masks for predefined function, you can test by flooding the function through making that channel entirely white. It might make it more apparent which overlay function is attached to it, and how that overlay effect looks ingame.
Looking at that blue channel it is adding a percentual effect at a constant strength over it's entire mapped area (the grey bits). You can probably just leave it vanilla on a retexture or just clean it up a bit.

Ottemis,

I'm having trouble installing the Citadel Environment Pack.

I'm using ME3 Explorer's TPF/DDS Tools 2.0, and when I click "Install valid", it just hangs on the first part of the mod ("ComputerWall01_Msk3").

Do you have any solutions?

Thanks.

Sorry but that's not enough info to go on. TPF/DDS Tools 2.0 is included with a large range of toolset revisions.
You have succesfully run a treescan ontop of a vanilla install and when you scan the tpf, they're all found in tree?

Hi Ottemis,

I was wondering if I could use parts of your EDI From Ashes Outfit and Combat Fatigues texture mods for my mod that I am creating for a new look for Ashley.

Thanks.

Just passing by to give you a huge THANK YOU!

While ME1 & ME2 already have their textures in HR, ME3 still need some work.

Or a lot of work it would seem. LOL

Anyway, thanks again for your great work.

For private use yes, always.
For public release, as long as your mod follows my permission rules before/on release. They can be found in the OP here or under any of my mod projects on the Nexus. For the future it's best to contact me either via PM here or on the Nexus as I get an email notification for those. Sorry for the late reply.

Hi Ottemis!

First I'd like to thank you for your awesome work, your mods look amazingly good :D

I was wondering if you could help me on my quest to fix ME3's mohawk diff texture?
Since this is not directly related to your mods I'd understand if you don't want to look into it.

So, here is the problem:
- ME2 mohawk
- ME3 mohawk

On ELE08's "ME3 Gibbed Hair Resources", James Vega hair diff is proposed instead of the regular hair diff:
- ME3 mohawk using James Vega hair diff

So I've went ahead and took a look at both hair diff using Texplorer:
- Regular mohawk hair diff (BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.HAIR_MOHAWK.HMF_HIR_Mhk_Diff)
- James Vega hair diff (BIOG_HMM_HIR_PRO_R.Hair_James.HMM_HIR_James_Diff)

Obviously, there seems to be a big difference color-wise. After searching a bit more, here is my conclusion:
- A fairly good amount of ME3 hair diff use green as primary color, for example: Cute (Cte_Diff), Highbun (Hbn_Diff), etc.
- The ME2 mohawk hair diff is exactly the same as ME3 hair diff.
- It sounds like ME3 mohawk hair diff simply hasn't been updated to use green as primary color, unlike other hair diff.

Unfortunately that's as far as I can go. I tried to manually edit the hair diff using GIMP with DDS plugin but I'm simply not knowledgeable enough to edit the DDS properly, so I can't go any further.

If you have any idea and can help me, that would be great :)
I'd rather not use James Vega hair diff as it look too "fluffy", and I like consistency between ME2-3.

Thanks again for your work!

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I don't visit the BSN often anymore. Been on a bit of a hiatus following childbirth and other RL happenings.

I've tried the same some years ago but ran into an issue as replacing that texture with one that should technically work would crash my game when loaded in. I don't know what it is about that file, but I remember not being able to make it work either. It's a shame because it'd been a nice potential extra hair texture slot for modded hairs to use, but no such luck. Granted this was some time ago, maybe it was simply a restriction of the toolset at the time, if someone has managed this please share!

@Ottemis, I don't know why the fix crashed your game, the one I have works with the current rev.

The mohawk bug has been fixed in ALOT, thanks to Sonicck, who provided the fix. You can find a direct download here, or just download the texture with hash 0x9319C800 from the ALOT DDS torrent.

Ahh it was ages ago that i tried working with that texture myself, read: at least two years ago. The toolset was much in flux back then, especially on the texture front. Good to hear, thanks for the info!

Ottemis, how can you let such trivialities as children get between you and the most important task of ME3 modding?!?

...

  Kidding of course. Congrats!!!

Did you see the new stable for ME3Explorer that just came out last week? KFreon made heaps of advances to TPF texture installs (not to mention all the other cool stuff that's in there).

Hey Fob <3 Thank you! Well my little girl knows where the power button on my PC is at, when I'm on it while she's awake it's like playing russian roulette lol. Probably has something to do with the pretty blue light around the button =P

Yeah I got to see it a day or two before release, I happened to poke K as that rev was nearing end development haha.
Good to see things still progressing, I've had a look at it checking if my mods are still compatible. I know some of my mod scripts are outdated at least.

Want to look into the DLC mod business as well when I get some time to sit down for it and see if I can figure it out, maybe make a texture pack with my stuff. Been doing some low key dabbling in textureland again this week, kind of want to finish all the stuff I still had outstanding when i went awol but will have to see if I get anything done.
