I have been lucky. Very lucky.

I have never been bulled whilst playing any online video game.

Sure I've had the occasional kick from a lobby, but that's not bullying. It's just plain annoying.

Watch this video.

Have you encountered online bullying whilst playing Mass Effect 3?
Note that whilst females often get the worst of the bullying, males can be on the recieving end too.

Feel free to discuss.

Since hardly anyone has voice chat on the PS3, I don't hear a lot of abuse.
The people who have voice chat are more likely to talk about work, watching television and relationships than the game.
However I've never encountered any of those people with voice chat being abusive.

All I have to say is that I have never even wanted to use a mic in any other multiplayer game.

ME3 has a relatively wonderful community.

I've never really encountered anything too bad, and if there is someone being annoying I just mute them. It won't stop though because people can just anonymously spew obscenities without repercussions in this setting.

I hate this recent fascination with bullying. People are dicks. Can we seriously not even count on emotional fortitude anymore?

Isn't anonymity the most beautiful thing the internet provides?

Someone is being annoying over the mic... mute them.
Sending abusive messages.. block them.

And do people really give a **** what offensive things randoms on the internet say to/about them?

i think ME3 has a more mature playerbase and less of this to deal with. its not halo or COD
I've rarely encountered anything like that on ME3.

Mass Effect 3 community is great, though admittedly not a lot of people on PC even talk.

Been called all sorts of things on other games. Doesn't bother me.

I have had multiple people rage at me for no apparent reason... I just ignore them and block communications. Gotta love that wonderful Xbox feature!

Also... upinya slayin: A few of the people raging for no reason were on ME3

ME3 doesn't promote competitive edge. No need to be hostile.

What is this... common sense... you speak of?

Can you translate that into internet?

To be honest I don't think this is a good place to discuss this, not only because it's not really ME3 related, it just doesn't fit the typical discussions here. Also I'm pretty sure there's not a lot of people here that are actually qualified to talk about this, most of us here don't really know enough about this topic (sure, we all read an article about it or seen a video but that's not really enough).
I'll quickly share my opinion though: Sure, this is a big problem (not only in the world of gaming) but I don't think it's that common, especially on games like ME3 since it's aiming for a moor mature playerbase then games like CoD.
And that video seems a little bit biased against gaming in general but that's what I expect anyway.

I've recieved hatemail once for "stealing" some shadows kills. His fault for shadow striking the targets I just finished energy draining to snipe so I just blocked him. Other than that special person this community has been pretty good, unlike other games...

I would have thought that about PvE stuff.

but people on WoW's PvE are pretty damn hostile.

Yes.

The majority of the population of ME3 players (On Xbox at least) seem to be:
1. People who don't use mics
2. Drunk (Gotta love the hilariousness that ensues)
3. Generally polite.

Just watched the video that I posted in the thread.
It's quite shocking.

Sure you can mute those people, but when someone says "You're a dirty ****. I'm gonna rape you". It leaves an uncomfortable feeling inside. You don't forget the rape and death threats.

Unacceptable is unacceptable.

Also don't anyone use the excuse "boys will be boys".
I've meet "rowdy boys". Not one of those "rowdy boys" thought it was okay to treat a female like that.

Sorry, that video got me worked up.

If you get butthurt about people being mean over the internet, you need to get in touch with reality.

Some people need to grow a spine.

Pseudo anonymity tends to give people the impression that they can say/do whatever they want... but ultimately who cares what some random jackass on XBL/PSN/Origin says? I pretty much forget all about them 5 minutes after logging off.
