"Deal with it" is not the children's approach to anything. In fact, it's the adult approach to life. Children have other people solving their problems.

Complaining about other people being mean doesn't get you anywhere. What does get you somewhere is learning to not give a crap if people are mean.

What some people are talking about here - myself included - is being proactive and working to make things better.  What you're talking about is ignoring things and trying not to think about them.  If that isn't childish and naive, I don't know what is.

Considering that this is a psychological problem, not thinking about it actually solves the issue.

If you can pull it off.  Some people can't.  Some things are aggressive and nasty enough to get to people.  They're SOL under your plan.

Occasionally I will meet some chump who's just on the fritz, but nothing from Halo, Battlefield, EVE Online, multiple more MMOs and especially Mass Effect.

I find that gender doesn't play a difference... unconsciously yes, but if most people pay attention to the skills than gender it works out.

Glad to say that all the female gamers on ME3 MP I've met have been their selves without backlash that I know of. It's just more of a problem on COD.

the woman in the OP youtube clip baits people by starting a stupid feminist protest of objectification of women in video games and is surprised when she attracts some trolls?

Psychological problem isn't a medical term. You can't argue the definition of something that has no definition.

I have encountered less harassment on ME3 MP than any other online game I have played. i prefer to play this because I can relax and just have fun. The spirit of mass effect is what makes this community great. Noone cares whether you are male or female...they just want to shoot stuff and get paid.
I will never play COD or Battlefield again. Those communities are full of hate towards women. At least in Mass Effect I can be a female avatar. It is an equal opportunity shooter/RPG.
People ask me why I play so much Mass Effect. I tell them it is the first game in many years where I can be myself and not get ridiculed for being a woman.

There is a lack of accountability in the world. Society also reinforces the behavior of the proverbial excrement port.

A long time ago when you acted like an ass someone would come along and punch you in the face till you learned some manners. Society does not promote such behavior, and protects people with massive attitude problems.

Being online further emboldens people with these behavioral traits. They feel safe to act this way under the protection of a computer screen.

Grow some thick skin. Society also does not promote this. It teaches you to cry, whine, and generally think the world is suppose to be fair and your the center of it.

You will meet rude people. You can allow them to get to you or you can shrug it off and enjoy your life regardless of the mindless idiots trying to drag you down to there level of depression, anger, and lonelyness.

That is so true. Women who bait people by having different opinions than them deserve to be raped to death. Actually, any girl who talks on mic in a video game deserves to be raped to death. There, video game community. I just solved all your problems.

ME3 seems to attract a more mature audience. On the PS3 (which is my system of choice) rarely anyone has a mic to begin with, so it's usually pretty chill or good humored chat.

Though, sometimes, It's weird hearing females chat when they sound REALLY young, much younger than they do if I were to talk with them in person. It's so rare to hear anyone on the mic at all that when I do hear a woman, which 9 times out of 10 it won't be, I always think "sounds like a little girl..." untill I listen closely for about a minute and I notice the little bits that point out that not being the case.

As for that video in the link, WHY?

EDIT: Oh, I get it. I skipped around at first to get the gist of it, but now I see. Feminist. That is to be expected when the internet meets these kind of things.

HOW THE **** IS FEM SHEP A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS?

i'm not saying that.  I'm not making the "she dressed like a ho so she was asking for it" argument.  I just don't think she should have been so surprised about attracting trolls when creating a controversial debate about something that isn't even a big deal to anyone other than outright feminists.

I didn't say their behaviour was appropriate. I said she needs thicker skin... People misbehave. In real life, on the internet... and the best answer is to ignore it. Respond to it, and show that it bothers you and you are giving the person exactly what they want.

I am apathetic towards people who clearly are much to naiive for the world they live in.

That might work for you, and your hard man feelings, but this is a sign that you have little understanding of what the world of a woman looks like.

No way in hell will i ever understand what its like to view the world from a woman's eyes. But you just can't "shake" these things off when A) you are hormonally desinged to be sensitive to relationships, B) grow up in a society where you are the weaker sex (physically), C) have to stay alert at all times at night and alone, even if you are just walking from your work to your car, and much, much more.

I mean, alone, the percentage of women who are sexually abused as children are astronimcally higher than men... i mean... 1 in 6 women have been a victim to attempted or enacted rape... ONE in SIX...

Its not about how tough you are, its about the inherent problems this society has in their views on women

Fabricated statistic with no bearing in reality, you like many probably just heard it and decided to cite it. Also BS about women more likely being sexually abused as children.

Go figure a co-operative game fosters co-operative behavior.

The only bullying I saw was when a host refused to start a game because a low level N7 vanguard was playing Silver. So I gladly ruined his lobby with anime micspam.

How on earth do you consider that "bullying" ?

Total nonsense.

Shaming someone for having a low N7 rating while playing a vanguard would be okay on Gold, not so much on Silver...

You wouldn't know what an intelligent opinion was if you read it off a screen.

This is wrought with male-centered preconceptions on what women should do on women-centered issues.

You have no clue. Have fun in an emotionally divorced relationship

Anita Sakesean is a conartist. Maybe a few people did send her threats, most people just refuted her BS, didn't stop her from making over 400k over her 'issue', most of the donors being men...
