Seriously though, if Tali wasn't my love interest I'd be fine with them together.

As for genetics, their DNA is still less similar than a mockingbird is to an elephant.

Heh. So, anyway, my favorite alien bro was Wrex, not Garrus. Then Grunt. While Zaeed was my go-to mercenary/sniper in ME2. The Citadel DLC has been especially awesome for giving me a chance to bust heads with Tali and Wrex just as it always was in ME1.

Also I think I heard from someone that dextro-based organisms may actually be somewhat compatible with levo-based food.

Personally, had I not romanced Garrus, I'd be fine with him and Tali getting together. Tali has a crush on him in the Citadel DLC (and outside of it) even if Femshep and Garrus are together. They're both kind of awkward and geeky, so they'd make a cute couple.
My problem with it is that I think the Garrus/Tali hookup was largely fan-driven. It's not a matter of "deserving" each other; they both would be very good for each other, I think. The problem is that their behavior in previous games doesn't seem like it would lend itself to romance. In ME1, Garrus was a little arrogant and kind of a jerk to all non-turians except Shepard. In ME2, he and Tali seemed a lot like siblings. Since you wouldn't typically date your brother/sister, that seems a bit odd to me that suddenly they're into each other. But, aside from that, I think they would be a cute couple, and it's nice that if you don't romance one of them they still have somebody. 'Cause, really, if you like them, why would you want them to be lonely?
I just think it's too bad that if you romance Garrus, Tali doesn't have anyone else she can fall in love with...

But she's always mine. Garrus can pick up that Turian chick in Citadel

Because we like to romance Tali ourselves...?TheMyron wrote...
Why do so many guys consider Garrus to be their favorite buddy, when at the same time many of them don't believe he deserves Tali for a girlfriend.?
Note: Their DNA has more similarity.
Should be rather apparent.

I imagine the OP is talking about the people who complain about their relationship even in playthroughs where they're not romancing Tali (or Garrus).

This. I have four playthroughs. Shepard romances her in my canon. An alternate Shepard romances Garrus. They get together in the other two. I'm not complaining.Only-Twin wrote...

And even then imo "talibrations" is pretty forced and out of key.

Also as we know from the game itself Tali adapts to shepard which makes me think that quarians are very adaptable, so while she would probably never eat levo food she is closer to humans than turians or most other species apart from asari.

There was a thread on these forums with a guy breaking down dextro quarian body chemistry based on real life chemistry. It ended up that Tali's scent and sweat are natural aphrodisiacs for humans.
Well isn't that something.
I have read in a few places that some life forms on earth use d-amino acids and they wouldn't necessaily be toxic to humans. But I'm not a biologist, so I can't be too sure of that.
Edit: some of the research I'm looking up suggests that certian d-amino acids are not toxic.

On the DNA topic, I wonder just how similar DNA would be between races like quarians and humans. Would DNA be fairly consistent with life in the galaxy?
Who knows; we don't have anything to actually compare ourselves to. It's completely speculative

Seriously, I saw them together on my 'Stay Faithful to Liara this time!' run, and I was seething. I wish I had never gone down to talk to him before the final battle...
