Seriously though, if Tali wasn't my love interest I'd be fine with them together.

I mean, if you like them together then that's fine, but if having the same chirality and being in the general vicinity of Shepard is the only thing required for romantic compatibility, then Kaidan is soulmates with everyone on the ship.

Thats headcanon, not canon. Grissom merely noted the similarities between, there is nothing to confirm that Turians evolved from avian species. And the Quarians absolutely did not either.

Even without the helmuts the quarians have that vibrating voice noise.
No they don't, on Rannoch when Tali takes her helmet off its quite clear she has a single toned voice.

I thought they were cute too. I liked that scene better than the one my romanced Shepard got. Not for the same situation, obviously, but I thought it was well done.Hyrule_Gal wrote...

This.
Also, i think that their sort of "relationship" in a playthrough in which Shepard has not romanced one of them is nothing more than an Easter Egg.
Just like Grunt seems to have a crush on Liara at the end of the party in the Citadel DLC.
On a side note: I felt bad when a friend of mine shown me for the first time that scene during his playthrough (he had a FemShep loyal to Liara), he knew i'm really attached to Mass Effect, especially to Tali and everything that involves her, and he kept that savegame just to show me the scene.
I remember he said, smiling mockingly at me, "Hey, check this out!" (yep, exactly like Xzibit from "Pimp my Ride").
A couple of seconds later, i was about to kill him and jump into the screen of his PC, screaming "Get away from her, you Turian!" XD
Aaaand... i guess that's basically why i try to keep ME for myself, it's way too personal... way too much feelings. That's why this game is so unique.

Tali and Garrus should be dating because of their DNA in the same way that I should be dating a rosemary plant.
DNA is meaningless.
You don't date someone because they are a levo based organism.

It's the classic "everyone hooks up at the end" thing, where all the characters hook up at the end. Garrus and Tali, Vega and Ashley (as last minute and shallow as it may be), Joker and EDI; hell, if you defy Bioware's pressure and don't go for Liara (who, if this were a movie, would obviously be the love interest), there's something implied between her and Javik.
Of course, I only let them hook up in the Liara-loyal run through because I avoided Tali after the loyalty mission - I can't bear to turn her down if I actually enter that conversation, she sounds so let down:crying:

ME1 Garrus and Tali are a terrible match. ME3 Garrus and Tali actually have a lot in common, a common history (which actually IS totally relevant as it gives them a common point of reference and experiences), and compatible personalities.

Eh, when Garrus made that petty joke about Quarian suits, that was a deal breaker IMO.
I just don't see anything that would keep Vakarian and Tali together post ME3. Just my view on it.

Considering they hook up post petty suit comment, it doesn't seem to be a deal breaker to Tali.

So more of a relationship brought together by conflict, but doesn't hold together after.
Sort of what happened with my Shep in ME1 with Liara.
This implies it's brought about by the desperation of conflict rather than the permanent character changes they both went through because of conflict.
I think it's the later.

Is Tali really the kind of character to throw herself into someone's arms in desperation?
My whole point in entering this conversation was just to reaffirm that good reasons do exist for a Garrus/Tali pairing and not everybody that likes that pairing is just going "oh they have dextro DNA and know Shepard! They should totally hook up!"

While I can see Garrus and Tali getting together, I'm with the group who can't see it lasting. Although, they both seem to be nerdy and into tech, so who knows?
But I've always thought the same of Shepard's romances. While Garrus or Tali are definitely more into Shepard than each other, given the chance, that doesn't mean that a relationship with Shepard would work out in the end. Being identical isn't necessary, but finding things in common and working to stay interested and find more things to do together and talk about--and staying friends once the passion dies down--are important.
In that light, the Garrus/Shepard tango date was pretty awesome, because it looked like Garrus went out of his way to learn something new to teach Shepard, so that they could have fun dancing together. And yes, I actually looked at it that way: "Aww, he wanted to find something fun for the two of them to do. He must be really serious about this." I would have liked to see more along those lines for the other relationships. Tali's nerdy movie does not seem to have impressed my Femshep, and I doubt it impressed the male Shepard either. Now imagine you spend ten years re-watching a film you don't even like every weekend. You might think you could do it, that it would never bother you, but sooner or later you'd be in a bad mood and hurt her feelings over it.

Well, we seem to be at the standard "this is just my opinion" impasse which forbids any kind of meaningful analysis of the situation.

As I said, it is clear Tali has more feelings for Maleshep (She goes for him first
Her fling with Garrus seems out of place. I always got a bro-sis vibe from them, so seeing them together really makes me uncomfortable, not to mention tacked on...

Well, this is true as of ME2 when Garrus had not yet completed his arc. That she prefers ME2 dudeshep to ME2 Garrus is clear. But considering the Garrus/Tali pairing only happens if Shepard is female or not interested in Tali, this comparison doesn't seem completely relevant. Hypothetically there is always somebody out there better for you than your current partner, but if they live on the other side of the planet or only exist in a parallel reality, it doesn't matter. It also doesn't mean your current partner can't work for you.
