I do like how BW decided unromanced NPCs members dont stay along like Garrus/Tali, Ash/Vega, Joker/EDI, Ken/Gabby. It would have been cool to see other pairings from the crew. Like Traynor/Kelly or Samara/Zaeed, Mordin/Aria (oh wait Mordin already broke omega's rule), or Chackwas/Adams. Also what about Garrus/Dr Michel. That was hinted at.

I personally see the MEverse's akin to how they are set up in FRINGE. Even though they are the same person, different experiences can mold them into different people.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...

As I said, it is clear Tali has more feelings for Maleshep (She goes for him first).
Well, this is true as of ME2 when Garrus had not yet completed his arc. That she prefers ME2 dudeshep to ME2 Garrus is clear. But considering the Garrus/Tali pairing only happens if Shepard is female or not interested in Tali, this comparison doesn't seem completely relevant. Hypothetically there is always somebody out there better for you than your current partner, but if they live on the other side of the planet or only exist in a parallel reality, it doesn't matter. It also doesn't mean your current partner can't work for you.
In my universe, Tali is completely in love with my Shepard. In someone elses, Shepard is female, and Tali goes for Garrus.
I really don't mind Tali having a different love in another universe. I do, however, have a problem when the romance seems "tacked" on.

The only thing that bugs me about their pairing though is that when you walk in on them, Shepard doesn't say his "You two have been with me longer than most" line. Even though that's a major reason why they're both such beloved characters. It's almost as if the game doesn't acknowledge Shepard's bond between those two characters if he hasn't fallen in love with one of them.
As for Garrus' date with the female turian. Part of me wondered if that was done because the fan response to Garrus/Tali was more negative than expected when it was seemingly done out of fanservice in the first place. Either that or it's because seeing Garrus' lack of game is just that amusing and everyone was curious to see Garrus react to a female turian anyway. If you support Garrus and Tali together though, remember that it's just a date and chronologically takes place before they hook up.

This is my main problem with it. Pair the spares. They don't have anyone else, so just toss them together. If you make the right choices in the game they both survive the ending, they have the rest of their lives to find their soulmate. Just because they don't 'get to have' Shepard doesn't mean they'll be alone.KangDo wrote...
I'm perfectly fine with seeing two of my favourite characters together. Infact, it makes my choice between Tali and Miranda much easier. Garrus is my bro so I'm more than happy to let him "have" Tali since there's other fish in the sea.
Although it could be that they were just a fling, which actually makes more sense. But most people seem to interpret it like they're soulmates.
Probably more so Talimancers still get the option of getting Garrus hooked up. I guess the writers like him as much as the fans do, because they seem to be obsessed with Garrus getting some.KangDo wrote...

I think his awkward flirting with the turian was more reminiscent of how he reacts to FemShep, which makes me question how in-character his ultra-suave persona with Tali was. It sounded more like the joke voice he used in his faux date with Shepard (which I felt was very OOC for them both).

Garrus is my FemShep's boyfriend. Apparently sometime behind the scenes he asked Tali to join him and Shep in a threesome, so... uhh.. share the love?
Is it wierd that I would be perfectly okay with something like this (IE: Garrus joining in with my Maleshep and Tali)

I will point out that relationships made during high-stress situations, like the Reaper Wars, rarely last.
While I can see Garrus and Tali getting together, I'm with the group who can't see it lasting. Although, they both seem to be nerdy and into tech, so who knows?
But I've always thought the same of Shepard's romances. While Garrus or Tali are definitely more into Shepard than each other, given the chance, that doesn't mean that a relationship with Shepard would work out in the end. Being identical isn't necessary, but finding things in common and working to stay interested and find more things to do together and talk about--and staying friends once the passion dies down--are important.
In that light, the Garrus/Shepard tango date was pretty awesome, because it looked like Garrus went out of his way to learn something new to teach Shepard, so that they could have fun dancing together. And yes, I actually looked at it that way: "Aww, he wanted to find something fun for the two of them to do. He must be really serious about this." I would have liked to see more along those lines for the other relationships. Tali's nerdy movie does not seem to have impressed my Femshep, and I doubt it impressed the male Shepard either. Now imagine you spend ten years re-watching a film you don't even like every weekend. You might think you could do it, that it would never bother you, but sooner or later you'd be in a bad mood and hurt her feelings over it.
While the movie itself didn't seem to impress my male Shepard all that much (but having to watch chick-flicks is something all boyfriends/husbands must go through on a regular basis), but Tali's singing a song from it very much did.

I like that too - it means Shep and the LI aren't only unprofessional ones on the Normandy. It amuses me to no end that you can have all these other couples randomly hooking up as well.
But on the other pairings, Zaeed does hit on Samara, she just turns him down.

The second and the only reasonable argument against it, is that the two characters didn't seem to get along very well in Mass Effect 1. I was against shipping those two prior to ME3 for that reason. That being said, I liked how their conversations played out in ME3 and that Garrus' hostility towards Tali in the first game was addressed. Despite not being a fan of Garrus/Tali shipping, the writers managed to sell me on it, and I quite liked that they ended up hooking up in the game.
Oh, and also some people were also shipping Tali with Kal'Reegar. Some people are against the Garrus pairing for that reason.

It's not about jealousy for me. It's about what feels more real and natural for the characters. Garrus/Tali is just, just doesn't feel right. I never got that vibe, and when I heard Tali coming onto Garrus on YouTube, I was facepalming.Han Shot First wrote...

It's not that either of them doesn't deserve each other, it's a matter of chemistry. I just don't see it, personally.
I feel like people see "two dextro aliens" or "my two buds" and that's as far as they go with it. Personally, I think the reasons why their romancers are more against it than other people isn't always about petty jealousy as they have been accused of. We've spent a long time analyzing these characters and trying to figure out what makes them tick. So we have higher standards for them than 'oh, they're nice and they're dextro'. To me the bottom line is, I don't think they're perfect for each other. And perfect is what they both deserve.

That's just it though, not many people think this is a deal about "deserving". OP's question was to a small minority.CronoDragoon wrote...
Btw, OP was specifically asking about people who say Garrus doesn't "deserve" Tali. Obviously there are multiple reasons for not being on board with Tali/Garrus but for that particular complaint I'd have to assign reason #1 as jealousy.

I have no issues with "We're gonna die, lets have sex". I imagine that would be my reaction too

While it has build up, the actual chemistry doesn't mix well with me. It just seems so OOC to me. Heck, even Veetor would make a better match for Tali IMO.HolyAvenger wrote...

Nor do I, but those kinds of relationships don't last the majority of the time.

Probably OOC for Garrus, since he doesn't have a thing for aliens and only goes for Femshep because they're best friends and respect the hell out of each other.
Not very OOC for Tali, especially considering her Citadel DLC scene.
Veetor?!
