Most people who don't pick him pick Wrex instead. I think it's safe to say everyone wants a krogan on their team.

Nope. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Krogan and I find Wrex and Grunt to be great for comic relief but I've barely used them in any of my playthroughs.

1 - Garrus (Great Sniper and great for taking down armored targets)
2 - Ashley (Disruptor Ammo to compliment Garrus's Armor Piercing, Inferno grenades for James's Spray and Pray)
3 - Tali (Strips shields and can hack any annoying Mech/Turret)
4 - James (Light Everyone on fire with Incendiary ammo then have Ashley throw Inferno Grenade, room cleaner)
5 - Liara (Singularity for enemy cannon fodder, Warp for Bosses, also she knows alot... Shadow Broker... Inside Intel Anyone? Duh...)

Now I don't think these last two need Explaining...

6 - Wrex
7 - Grunt

Two Krogan Soldiers with alot of Health and Shields with natural rogan Regeneration... Including damage protection, With Claymores attatched with Omni Blades...

And for people who would ask why these last two anyway: 1 Krogan as an enemy is trouble... but when enemies see 2 krogan the only orders they can give is, "Kill'it Kill'it Kill'it Kill'it Kill'it! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" And they always do... Die... that is. They distract the enemy by... well... killing them up close and personal, and let everyone else shoot from a medium distance, Garrus from long range if using his sniper.

Krogan an't get up close and personal? Well... thats what the Fire is for. "Burn it in Fire." Also having Garrus and Ashley Snipe with Black Widows isn't a bad choice either.

Back in ME1 my main team was Garrus and Wrex, I was a Soldier. Wrex can kill Anything in ME1, I never saw him go down, not once, even on the hardest diffculty. You should replay it and use Wrex with whoever you like, and let Wrex work his space magic.

It took me a while to warm up to Grunt, as I initially viewed him simply as the "not-Wrex" and rarely even paid attention to him.  I would later find out that they are very different Krogan.  Nowadays, more often than not my ME2 team is Grunt and Jack.

 Imagine the banter between Legion and Javik.
Javik/Nyreen and Legion/EDI banter could be interesting too. A complete clash of morals and two machines communicating...

Having Chakwas, Traynor, Joker, Cortez, Adams, Ken and Gabby at their normal posts would be great too. Gotta love some downtime-banter. Having EDI appear as her Holoball when on the Normandy would be a nice touch too.

I didn't care much for Grunt in ME2 (his loyalty mission was rather mediocre as well), but I very much liked him in ME3. Grunt's last stand (and then surviving!) was one the most emotional scenes for me...and he has a ton of hilarious moments in the Citadel DLC.

I'm not a huge Grunt fan and I killed Wrex on Virmire so I could keep Mordin.
