ok, not sure how I did this, but I was trying get water into my mod, and I copied my lvl from the \\appdata\\lvl\\ [name of my lvl] to what I thought was the mods texture area. I went into the level editor, hit patlette and selected models. There, amongst all the models, was my LVL folder. HEH?? I opened it, and inside where ALL my terrain chucks from my lvl. which I found that I could plop right into the new level I was working on as if they where a model, with rotate etc...

Yes, that's right, my terrain chuck was now a model I could throw into a level.

I've tried to recreate this accident, but I can't seem to find the files I copied, or where I copied them too. The directory I had *thought I place them in was empty, (I had emptied export directies, because a old version of the level was in the game.)

*note I had export my 'area' with dependant resources.

Could someone please tell what I did, and how I can do it again... and again....^_^

this little trick could be usefull

All levels get exported to the game as a series of meshes. You didn't do anything special. They should be available in the model palette in a folder with the same name as the layout name.

I've never seen any other terrain messes, besides vistas that you could have in your level. I'm saying that my entire level, painted terrain is available, with each of it's chunks as separate models, like a vista. I would like to recreate this. I've tried and failed to do so. Sounds like you do it all the time. Do you think you could point me in the right direction?

thanks

*edit

the models of the terrain chunks even have high and low LOD's

ok, I figured out what happened, and now I have my level, which was NOT part of the single player games, in the single player model list. I guess DarthParmetric was right, it's not that special.

Hmmm, this "feature" sounds promising...
