They said they don't "play" sociopathic a-holes.

Never said they weren't one.

Lol, people demanding that squad mates take a more defensive stance on their personal beliefs but then when Kaidan/Ashley do it they get completely skewered.

An approval type system might be nice, but as BW has already done, it's quite easy to max everyone's approval/friendship/rivalry. When you make decision points, like Alistair and Loghain, it's never seemed dramatic. It's more of a 'who do I like more' and that's what people tend to go with. Or, they do it to see how the difference affects the rest of the game.

If you have team mates die no matter what, you lessen the player's connection to them. It's only shocking the first time. After that, you know what's coming, and you plan your game around it.

I'm fine with squad mates questioning my decisions, and even bringing it up again in future dialogue. I'm not fine with forcing choices because it's supposed to be 'dramatic.'

. Being a sociopath to a sociopath obviously makes you a hero

I love how pure-paragon Shepard tells Samara (s)he's better than that, then immediately proceeds to gun down a building full of Eclipse to get the name of a ship off of a datapad.

"Need a ship name? Kasumi, I've got a job for you. We'll meet back at the ship in twenty."

Or,

"EDI, think you can break their network? Got the ship name? Good."

I like the OP's idea. None of this meek pandering to the "hero's" will. You're in charge, but you're just a person. Others have opinions of their own; they aren't there just to validate your ego. If you murder Falere, I want to see Liara get pissed off. If you exterminate the Quarians, I want Garrus to knock your ass out in the shuttle bay. If you kill Mordin and Wrex AND the VS, your squad should be deeply disturbed by it. I thought it was great that Wrex and Legion try to kill you if you screw them over; Samara ought to have made good on her ME2 threats. Break up relationships. Lock out others. Drive people off the ship, even if it's just one person. There should be tangible repercussions for your actions.

The problem isn't their objection to Shepard. The problem is that the writing surrounding it sucked.

For you maybe...but a lot posters on these board hated them for the objection to Shepard....not the writing surrounding it.

It's actually a common topic brought up when someone is saying why the choose a different LI other than Ashley in ME3. "because they stayed loyal to my Shep"

Honestly I'm glad Shepard's gone, due to the whole universe bends over backwards so Shepard is always right deal. No matter how you RP... Shepard was always bland due to nobody really questioning except if they were obviousily incompentent or EVIL.

If you didn't like it you could have stopped playing.

I was pinching the bridge of my nose the whole time when Kaidan was suspicious of a FemShep who confronted them with both Garrus and Liara at her side.

I'd love that, like in DA:O that companions may even leave your side if their approval goes low enough.

In ME2 I showed up on horizon with Garrus and Mordin, AFTER getting reinstated as a Spectre and getting Anderson's blessing

Ashley: -fingers in her ears- "YOU WORK WITH CERBERUS NOW YOU TERRORIST TRAITOR...LALALALALALA CAN'T HEAR YOUR EXPLANATION SHEPARD.....LALALALALA.....HAVE TO REPORT TO THE ALLIANCE THAT YOU BEYRAYED US....LALALALA"

other then Wrex-when you legitimately screw him over-, Mordin and Legion who actaully acts on it? Here is a hint, I can count them on one hand. Also proving a minority exists does that discount that for the majority of the game Shepard is treated as infalliable.

maybe you should take your head out of your ass before you start being condescending and trying to sound "enlighten"

"Someone worthy" what type of pretentious, elitists selfabsorbed d-bag talks like that.

Umm...I believe that sentence was meant to be what Shepard needs to do to gain those character's respect...

I don't think it was directed as an insult to you.

Agreed. The man can do no wrong, nobody can stop him, gets a tad dull.

I like to headcanon Cerberus rebuilding Shep to try and get the Prothean Cipher because rebuilding him because he's just that amazing is unbelievable and kind of illogical and silly as an explanation. I liked it in ME1 when Shep was just a very good marine, not some kind of demigod who can do no wrong.

Agreed.

We've gotten plenty of moments where the crew has disagreed with the PC. Remember Wrex on Virmire? Or Miranda and Jack's argument? Unless you managed to fill your Paragon/Renegade meters up you couldn't reason with them and had to choose a side. Just because you have the option to reason with them doesn't make the event any less vaild.

I personally hate when a game makes a decision without my input. If a squadmate is going to die or leave my party it should only happen because I either didn't complete a task before or I allowed it to happen.
