Yeah it was quite pants. It's amusing to see people who feel the need to point out they liked it before it made non-sucky. As if we actually need to be informed of that.

Hipster, eh? Eagle was always good with amps, mods, and biotics. Not a bare pistol and in conjunction with powers. This game has gotten to be too much about firepower and less about the powers that make it unique.

The buff was important, sure, but a big part of the shift in public opinion was people leveling the gun up. I couldn't stand it at level I or II, but now that I have it at VI, I use it on a handful of plays. Can really chew up armor on the big stuff when you spec it right.

Its awesome and my absolute favorite pistol. Wreaks havoc on every difficulty.

Eagle is a beast.

Get Marksman ability to boost it or Destroyer and it will destroy everything.

No it wasn't. People forget how awful Eagle, Wraith and many other weapon were. Even with full on amps. 

I'd argue that the Wraith wasn't bad once it was decently levelled up since it could still 1 shot trash mobs on Gold.

A low level Eagle, which is what everyone would have had pre-buffs, did about the damage output of our current Falcon, without the AoE and stagger.

At X it was pretty much an Avenger with a lot of recoil and less weight.

And sadly, it wasn't even buffing the gun that made it good - it was the addition of the heavy barrel mod.

I do like the Eagle, but 10 times out of 10, I'll opt for the Hurricane instead. I mean, why wouldn't I?

My problem with this statement (and I refuse to use the
Eagle, so don’t misinterpret this as me saying the Eagle is garbage, since I
don’t really know), but shouldn’t a promo weapon be on par with an UR? They’ve
always been black N7 cards, and now they’re even full-fledged URs, so the
statement that they’re at least better than Uncommon is more of an insult than
a compliment.

To be fair, it IS a shooter. Powers have always been viable, but weaponry has had a history of being a tad weak in some cases. Heck, most of our weapons -are- weak, except with specific setups or exceptional weapons (when's the last time you saw a sniper on a soldier, or an asari anything with a shotgun that wasn't Reegar's?)

Actually, Sniper and human soldier sounds sexy. Can't believe I've never tried that. I'm going to go try that later...

 Speaking as the only person I know with an Eagle X, I'd say it is my favorite heavy pistol now.  It is great against shields already, and has a decent clip, so I usually run it with a pierce mod and either damage or power boost depending on the class.  Combine it with snap freeze on the Paladin Sentinal and you can kill Brutes on gold with a single clip with a few headshots.  For keeping 200% cool down, it's hard to beat.
