I'm thinking a final decision on the ultimate fate of the weekend operations may still be to come. Perhaps something less frequent is still on the table for the future, while the details are being looked over.

I'm glad. Having trouble with my Internet/router and haven't been able to play since Tuesday and won't be able to this weekend. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to play our weekend event.

I'm thinking they did this so that they could start releasing UR Packs for challenges.
I'm also thinking challenges were cancelled this weekend so they could properly set up a pack that did this.
It would explain why BioWare has been refusing to comment on the "210 UR Items" issue. They usually avoid talking about something if they're already doing it (Protheans in multiplayer, etc...).
Also, if Weekend Challenges were continued, they'd have to get rid of Commendation Packs as we know them anyway. It's now possible to have your promo weapons maxed out (in some cases people have done it), and I'm not entirely convinced that there's a backup plan in said packs should you already have maxed weapons.

Also: Cool, this seems to suggest that we have more challenges coming AND that we might be getting an UR pack after all (basically Comm pack with UR). I know I'm stating the obvious here, but nice nontheless.

EDIT:
With anyone who feels entitled to having weekly generally uninterrupted content week after week, I feel we should remind ourselves that we have gotten used to a certain expectation and have taken this support for granted.
This has been a big week with the recent Balance Changes and Lodestar, so one week off is totally understandable. Keep up the good work for as long as you can MP team.

Yeah, it's a little hard to be upset about an issue that only affects those who blatantly glitched/cheated the system when many of us playing since the demo haven't maxed one promo weapon, much less all of them. If it breaks their game, I would consider that fair punishment for abusing the system. If it was an honest mistake, they should have reported themselves like the "honest" people did. If they didn't, karma is a cruel mistress.
