I found RtO much better than Warden's Keep. It was better for two reasons:
1. RtO actually had a compelling story to back it up
2. RtO has some amazing equipment!
Also when it showed Cailan nailed up to that post, for the first time in Dragon Age (I've played through the game 5 times), I got emotional. Now I wasn't chokin up or anything, but it certainly got me thinking "Wow, Cailan was a good king and its terrible he died so soon and so horribly. I shall avenge him!".
Although RtO was short, it was very satisfying. So was Warden's Keep, but not nearly as much. I've played through RtO 2 times now, and I just can't bring myself to choose the "evil decision" and thow Cailan's body to the wolves, or just leave his body on that post. Maybe, and thats a very big maybe, I'll play through again and choose that decision at a later time. Maybe.
I also found the voicework for Loghain, Allistair, and Wynne a very nice addition to the overall feel of RtO. Hearing Wynne and Loghain's arguments really added to the mood. I'm glad BioWare made Loghain aware of his surroundings at Ostagar, and the situation there.

I was actually really impressed as well. I felt the same for you when I first saw Cailan but after reading those notes and hearing Loghain and Wynne argue about it, it actually made me agree more with Loghain.

(spoilers galore) Loghain is livid at the whole affair Cailan is suggested at having with Celene, and Eamon's recommendations to Cailan to throw Anora to the curb in place of someone who could give him an heir. Wynne is kind of a B, she assumes she knows exactly what Cailan had in mind. Loghain is furious at not only what Cailan planned to do with his daughter but wanting to marry the empresses of Orlais, thereby handing Ferelden back to Orlais without a fight.

Heh, and if you're someone like me who likes to see how low they can get Alistair's approval, this one had it. Just have to either decide to leave him for the wolves, or let the darkspawn have their fun and you're treated to another Alistair hissy fit. :P

For what it's worth, Loghain also gets really pissed if you suggest leaving Cailan strung up for the Darkspawn, though for different reasons than Alistair.

I'm curios as to your definition of hissy fit. Hissy fit is an overreaction, a tantrurm thrown wihtout a good reason.
Desecratikng hte corpses of someones family DEFINATELY counts as a very good reason...to do far more than just throw a "fit".

Right, it's bugged. I played through it with a couple savegames that I've already replaced and will now wait for a fix. Don't feel bad you didn't get it today. It may as well have been a virus.

The only downside now with it is...I'm starting a new warrior character for the expansion pack to make 'good' choices and I really want Loghain to be there for RtO but I want to use that shiny gold armor/Maric's sword asap...for shame making me choose! lol

*Possible spoiler*

I think I read somewhere that Anora was unable to give Cailin an heir? Since we're on the subject of Cailin's notes, can someone with RtO confirm that this is true? It would change some decisions I would make at the end of the game.

How does everyone know that Anora is infertile and its not Cailin its either Eamons assumption or Cailin has some bastard offspring of his own.

Please explain to me how letting a man redeem himself is anything but good? I really get annoyed by this short sighted and pretty arogant notion that saving Loghain is an "evil" choice. If anything saving Loghain and allowing him to redeem himself is far more "good" than just having him executed in order to fulfill the blood filled vengeance of Alistair.

As for the RtO, I havent had it available as a download so it must of been taken off again. I am gonna start a new char for it as the epilgue saves for me are pretty immersion breaking which is what RP is all about imo.

Frankly, some people shouldn't be allowed to live, e.g. Vaughn.  Based on what Vaughn did in the past, you can guess what he'd do in the future as well, and better to get rid of scum like him.  Loghain is certainly not the same, but based on what you see in the game, I can't see any way that he wouldn't be constantly scheming to place himself at the top.  Not to mention he would have Anora's ear, meaning he'd have a large influence on running the country no matter what happened - if he is allowed to live.  Though I can see using him as the guy to kill the Archdemon, such a sacrifice would be a perfectly acceptable redemption - but Loghain needs to die or he will certainly caue trouble for Ferelden.  Of course that's just my opinion.

But part (or maybe even all) of what Selej wrote, might really be referring to timing.  That is if I want my PC to use that armor, I wouldn't want to wait until the game was almost over - which I feel like by the time I get to the point I can recruit Loghain.  So players starting out with a new character must choose whether to use the nice loot for most of the game, or wait until near the end to have some extra dialogue from Loghain.  Could be a tough choice for many.

This. There's no evidence to suggest Anora is infertile. Since we haven't heard anything about a bunch of little bastards running around, and we DO know that Cailan slept around,  it's more likely that Cailan is.

I played through it last night. I was pretty impressed. The only thing I would like from it, is to see some of the new DS more in the game. Esp the necromancers.. That could really throw a spanner in your game if you are not careful lol.

Other than that, the DLC was really well done, kudos to BW.

What I meant is pretty much what Carodej had mentioned. I'm referring to timing. I usually hit up the Circle first to get Wynne and I was wanting to go explore RtO for the loot. I plan on saving Loghain, as I'm actually a Loghain supporter, but I'd rather not miss out on Loghain getting to have the dialogue that he has there. By the time I can recruit him, I'll already have all the armor/weaponry I need to fight the Archdemon, the loot at RtO isn't nearly as good to me anymore. Getting it early, say after the first treaty, will help the game on the long run and I get to run around doing all the quests in gold armor. ;)
