thats why i give her the armour outfit, i dont mind if her hair is down, as long as she isnt running into battle with minimal armour and high heels im happy

I still hate it too. I put her in the armor though, so that helps. I just wish her armor was in phoenix colors, I have way too much blue going on in my team as it is.

Sex sells, which shouldn't be news to anyone.

It's really fascinating, because not a single change about Ash (face, clothes, boobs etc) does anything to enhance her appeal in my eyes. I understand that I'm not the target audience for Bioware's "moar sexy"-initiative in ME3, but seriously - they had EDI to design (and... Alllers), why couldn't they leave the existing characters alone?

I hate the outfit. Why she can't have a real ALliance uniform I'll never understand.

Hair is hideously impractical for combat too. Fortunately there's now a mod available to put her back in the bun. She looks more attractive that way anyhow.

"Sex sells..." I guess Bioware gave in to that motto.

Which is ironic, because most fans picked Ashley before she looked sexed up.

I agree. And it's at its worst in Mass Effect 3. At least DA2 had Aveline as a counterpoint.

sighs another thread on practicality vrs Aesthetics.. my vote is always for the aesthetically pleasing version.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Your  right  that can be true  but I was referring to  the  image on the original post.I liked the one on the right   that  was more form fitting than the one on the left .

For a different example I will  refer to Mass effect 1 and  3 Ashley's armor in M1  was bulky and unfashionable  but she still managed to look  good  in it  although IMO  she  looked better in her  uniform than  she did  in her armor.

One of the features that  M3 really hit Grand Slam home run out of the park  was not  only did  they   change Ashley's personal Style  they also gave her  a lot  better armor choices my favorite being the one below.

Image IPB

Image IPB

...we're talking about armor here. Who cares about "fashion?" I'd always put her in the most gender-neutral colors I could find in ME1 (same as I typically put the Hahne-Kedar chest piece on FemShep).

Why is she wearing a pink dress in a combat zone? It's almost as bad as Miranda's catsuits before the alternate appearance pack came out.

why ??

I will let someone else answer that  question , just substitute armor it applies just the same.

Hate to say it, but given how some people in this audience are, if they were watching Return of the Jedi for the first time they'd slap down a 30 page thread on why the ending was terrible because the debris from the Death Star doomed all the poor Ewoks to destruction.

your completely  correct .  quoted for truth. Its a game I dont care  if it  was "logical" or even relistic that the united forces were ableto  beat  the reapers  I just  want an ending like  Return ofthe jedi  where they  do.

but for the record  If i c ould keep  her  in that dress she wore to the citadel party I would  . Is it practical no  but this is a game so is it extremely sexy and fun  yes ... and there is your answer

For  all those who want ME1   bulky "practical "   armor and   personal style that is your choice  ... but its not mine and I applude Bioware for thier choices  with  both Miranda and Ashley

 I hope this trend continues.

They need another Miranda.

But while for her it made sense be the way she was, for Ashley it was totally out of character. I mean, Ashley in ME1 was the real deal.

Apparently her look wasn't up to "standards", I don't know.  Why'd Jack have to get hair to represent growth, why did Kaidan have to become buffed up, etc.

It is strange though -- ME1 was pretty damn refreshing with how the female clothing/armor was designed, and yet that game did quite well.

Are there players that would actually look at Ashley in her stupid blue skirt thing and think, "oh hey, I totally want to play ME3 now"?

Somewhat agreed. In ME1 Williams was golden. ME3, mostly she is indeed just a mere echo of her former self.

She looked kinda hot, but I was mostly dissapointed by her looking too different from the first 2 games. Of course, it wasn't nearly as bad as that thing that's supposed to resemble my Shepard from the first 2 games in some way, shape of form. I mean, really Bioware? If it ain't broke, don't fix it, never mind the things that were broken that you ****ing broke even more.

Yep, was never a fan of the "sexy" redesign.

Not only is it tacky, it contradicts her established character traits.
