Female walking animation in DA3

I was shocked when I found out that Aveline and Merrill walk the same way, which totally clashed with their personalities.
So please, I beg of you don't do the same thing in DA3!

Bioware, please don't make the female Inquisitor sway her hips like she's strutting down a catwalk when she walks the way Hawke did in DA2. What was the point of that, honestly? It was especially jarring considering that my lady Hawke was an aggressive, 2 handed warrior decked out in intimidating plate armor... who then proceeded to strut around like she worked at the Blooming Rose on the weekends. Her standing animation (with one hip cocked to the side) didn't help either.

Female Hawke constantly looked like she was desperately trolling for sexual attention. I found playing her incredibly distracting, and not in a good way.
Please, oh PLEASE don't do that again.

And please do not do the femshep walk either. To much testostorone in that one. Plus you might want to make her close her legs when she sits.

Ignore OP. Please make her sway. I like girls to be girls, so let's have then walk like girls and not boys.
Yes, there are some differences between how a girl and a guy move, but a girl walking down the street (let alone a battlefield) is not going to sway her hips in such an exaggerated fashion.

I agree, it needs to be much more neutral.

Who cares? It's a video game. A woman walking down teh street or a battlefield isn't going to be able to summon a lightning storm with a snap of her fingers either. Style beats practicality in this case.

Newsflash: even real girls don't walk/run like that. I certainly don't. If I would try to jog like female Hawke I would fall on my face.

Funny thing, there was a HOARD of posters beefing that females walked and moved just like men in previous bioware games. Please BioWare don't give her the sway walk! Please BioWare don't make her walk like a man!
Toggle. It needs a toggle. Kitten, plate glass, crash.

There must be some sort of happy medium. I have faith in Bioware to find it.

Depends on the girl and her center of gravity, actually. There are, in fact, actually women who move like f!Hawke, and not just when they're trying to look 'sexy'.
Instead of saying "girls don't do [x]" how about saying "It didn't seem to fit the characters?" Because for pretty much every "Girls don't do [x]" you can say, there's a woman out there who does.

What really bothered me about ladyHawke's run was the floppy-wrist thing she did. I don't know anyone, male or female, who runs like that.

Indeed.
Yet we were stuck with a Hawke who may have been a super strong and athletic, heavily-armored warrior and still ran into battle as if she were prancing down a catwalk or marketing her wares at the Blooming Rose.

Why does female Hawke have to move in a "sensual" way?

Odd, i saw absolutly nothing sexy about her walk/run.
Besides it fits Isabella alot more than Hawke. I can even accept Isabellas "armour" since it fits her character so well.

I actually liked the one-hip standing animation. I often stand that way in real life. Don't know if the OP is female or not, but it's actually quite comfortable to stand that way.

Floppy wrists would get you yelled at by a track coach.
What I personally wouldn't want to see (not that some people don't do it, but anyone who does a lot of running is going to stop doing it pretty quickly) is women flinging their arms/hands back and forth over the centre of their vertical body line as they run. That's a hell of a lot of wasted energy and off-balances you, something I'd like to think my PC knows better than to do. Luckily, I haven't noticed this in the DA games, so hopefully the animators will keep on keeping on, there.

I can not speak for how (un)comfortable it is. But i thought it looked good, the way she stood.

Isabella: yes.
Aveline, Merrill: no
Hawke: Guess it depends on the player, but for me- definitely not.
