mod it then an if you cant tough like i said if it bothers you so much play a male

listen i cant stand any of the companions in DA2, you hear me asking for a complete overhaul of the companions? do you hear me asking for features to be cut an changed that others like? NO you dont

Some of my Hawkes are male.
FemHawke's animations send a certain message, one that pervades our society. It is everywhere. Females must be sexy. They must appeal to the player. However, I am willing to bet that not everyone playing videogames wants to see T&A everywhere.

I was generalizing about videogames as a whole. (And I am not attacking you personally btw. No need to get defensive). Yes, I am aware that DA2 was much better than many games regarding the sexualization of women.
Wait, how do you know what the female protag's body will look like in DA3?

I wonder if the devs could add selectable idle postures, and walking/running animations to the CC so this wouldn't be an issue and people would respond to more important topics instead like my "Weather Effects and spells" thread? :D

Yeah the male animation is perfectly usable on female Hawke if you mod the game. Why not make both available from the get-go?

If you are referring to the picture in the OP, then I am pretty sure that is DA2 concept art.

The male animations are pretty generic and subtle. MHawke tended to shrug/roll his shoulders and tilt his neck. Female animations, not so much. FemHawke checks her nails to see if they still look pretty.

Make it just like it was in Origins.

Running animations for Bioware games post Origins were atrocious. Remember the normal run animation in ME2 and how Shepard had his/her head to one side as he/she ran? In ME3 he/she looks like he/she desperately needs the loo.

DA2's male running animations weren't any different from how a male ran in Origins but the female running animations were just ridiculous.

People go on about this alot, I never noticed it as an exaggerated sway until people pointed it out. Even so, I don't consider overly exaggerated but I guess they could tone it down a little. I'm all for male and female having altered movement animations, so long as it's not drastic. If they just add a very slight sway to the female walk and that's the only difference, I would be content.

There's only one thing that truly bothered me about female animations, and that was in Origins. I never walked as a femal Warden because of that damn left arm that flung right out. Why the hell did it do that?

I admit I'm surprised that you would not have noticed it if others hadn't pointed it out for you. It was really my first thought when I started my playthrough with femHawke: dafuq, why is she running in such a weird way?
Somebody here said that some women do run like that, but I honestly have never seen it before. It's simply not economic to sway your butt that much. She must be exhausted after a trek up to Sundermount.

I dunno, I guess I... hm, how did I not notice this? I'm sure I noticed the sway, maybe it wasn't until I read about people complaining that it properly occured to me.

But seriously... in Origins, what was the left arm doing when she walked? That bugs the crap out of me more than anything, it was painful. Dx
Please, tell me I'm not the only one who suffers because of this.

Running animations are like faces. They are not easy to portray in games.

LOL, I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't recall anything odd about the left arm in Origins. I remember the upper body and arms being quite stiff in DAO, but I still prefer that to the animation in DA2.

I agree, to a certain extent. They use motion capture in videogames. A live actor walks, runs, jumps, etc. and various points on their body are tracked. His/her movements are then applied to the game's characters.
In order for female animation to be that exaggerated, they probably told the actress to accentuate the movement of her hips, or I don't know, the animators made it up themselves.

Then you are of no use to me. [Slays you]

I like the walking animations a lot for the most part. The Warden Lass' left arm is the only thing that truly irks me. As for Lady Hawke's sway well, as I said haven't too much of an issue though it would be good if they toned it down a bit.

I agree that it was a choice to make the hips do that. It does however explain why the arms are strange in running animations or why it can be awkward in general.

Bioware, please don't make the female Inquisitor sway her hips like she's strutting down a catwalk when she walks the way Hawke did in DA2. What was the point of that, honestly?  It was especially jarring considering that my lady Hawke was an aggressive, 2 handed warrior decked out in intimidating plate armor... who then proceeded to strut around like she worked at the Blooming Rose on the weekends.  Her standing animation (with one hip cocked to the side) didn't help either.
I was shocked when I found out that Aveline and Merrill walk the same way, which totally clashed with their personalities.
So please, I beg of you don't do the same thing in DA3!

I really hope he was joking. Anyway, I think the walking/running animations in Origins were better and more realistic.

I thought Lady Hawke's walking animation was just fine. Maybe 'overly feminine' but it wasn't really an issue for me.

BioWare fixed FemShep's walking animation in ME3 after her ridiculous ME2 walk, but her running animation is still funny since it's the same as MaleShep's.

I don't really notice the walk one way or another so I wouldn't be opposed to lessening the sway to get it more normal female running.
