Been reading of how many of you guys/ladies have been soloing the entire game, so kept my current game saved and started a new character. I just arrived in town after picking up Morigan. I've dismissed the dog and Morigan, but for some reason Alistair's responses don't lead to a dismissal. So how do I get rid of him in this game?

I think he is the only cat you can not get rid of untill late in the game

You may want to keep a few (at least 3) party members around, as there are parts of the game that you can't complete if you don't have a full party (a la Urn of Sacred Ashes).

So it sounds like I have to keep Alistair, but do you just park him at zone line? Is gained EXP zone wide or local?

Actually just did the Urn and it spawned an Ash Wraith to round out the party for that puzzle

I'm personally keeping them around in my solo run. Originally I intended Leliana to run through area's after they are cleared but I ended up just opening some boxes with here in Lothering itself. After that my Noble dwarf has so much cash anyway that it's not needed.
I do however want to do some of their personal quests for loot and XP(I'd like the dagger and boots from Shales personal level etc, I'm halfway through the game and haven't done any of them yet.. but if I want.. I could

How can I park Alistair at the party camp? Anytime I leave the zone, the party screen comes up. I've tried to hold party member switch by going back to the hut, but still comes with me

Do not select any party member and click "Accept"

Well I guess I'm still stuck, I zone out from the camp, click accept none, and it won't remove anybody. This on the PC version if that helps
