I miss Johnny Gat.
Also the good Customization from 2.

Word. I was really disappointed about the anticlimactic death of Johnny Gat (why even kill him off in the first place?) and the smaller customization options compared to SR2. As far as Johnny Gat goes, considering how unrecognizably insane this universe has gotten I wouldn't be surprised if there's some device called the Res-Erection chamber that brings him back.

I hate all the GTA and Saints Row I and II games, but for some reason I enjoyed The Third. It wasn't anything spectacular, but was a fun ten our romp.
Edit: Oh yeah, and those awful Crackdown games.

Damn homie, all of 'em?

Yup, just wasn't able to get into them.

Needs less "missions" that aren't actually missions, but 30 second cutscenes disguised as missions.

I'm looking forward to it. I thought SR3 was a great game despite its differences from SR2. In my opinion the two titles are parallel; with each possessing its own flaws and merits.

I expected Volition to stick with the same engine considering pre-production for SR4 began before SR3 was even released. I doubt the cancelled Enter the Dominatrix will take up more than three missions in the entire game. It was obvious from the start SR4 would be insanely goofy when a Volition dev said it would be on a whole other level than SR3 waaay back. Anyone expecting a return to SR2's comparably grittier feel wasn't paying enough attention to SR3 news tidbits.

I hope they stick with Steelport and expand on it. Saints Row 2 was in part awesome because Volition built on the original game with an updated engine instead of doing everything whole cloth.

SR3 was made completely from the ground up and it shows. Graphics were a vast improvement over SR2, but Steelport was much sparser than SR2's rendition of Stilwater. This time Volition has no excuse. Steelport better be packed with content, varied landscapes, and a multitude of interiors on par with SR2. Anything less will come off as a bad rush job.

I can understand the sci-fi aspect due to SR sharing the same verse as the Red Faction series, but super powers srsly? They must have developed some crazy nano-machines, plus it looks even goofier than SR3.

Nanomachines, son.

Anyone else hoped that the design of the futuristic tech, was more cyberpunk like Ghost in the Shell, and the Deus Ex series instead?

I wouldn't say no to Cyberpunk, love the genre in general. Although I feel this game has gone beyond the borders of silly. It has become... 'too' silly even for me, but I guess I'll wait and see how it turns out later this year.

Well all throughout the main game they drop subtle hints or nods that suggest Johnny isn't dead and they even released a DLC that sort of send it up when a fan of the Saints tries to make a clone of Gat (and sorta but not really succeeds, it then parodies the characters comming back from the dead thing)

Though at the same time Saints Row has killed off majpr characters before and that is soemthing more unique compared to other games.

Heh, just when you think it couldn't get any more zany. Well, I never took these games seriously or had any big expectations either. SR3's great to play when you're drunk and in co-op with a buddy. Looking forward to this one.

How did this series go from street gang wars to aliens and Avenger-esque superheroes? I think Saints Row is trying a bit too hard to make itself distinguishable from GTA.

An idea like this would be better suited for a new and different IP.

Seems like they went full retard with this game. Never go full retard.

This should be Saints Row 3.5 since it doesn't look much different in style from the third one. I heard it's just DLC expanded into a full retail game.

My bad for just noticing your response, but the one thing i know for sure is that Angry Joe won't be pleased with this.

I know one thing I'll buy Saints Row IV but I won't be buying GTA V.

Hopefully they bring back Tara Platt, Laura Bailey, Robin Atkin Downes and Troy Baker back as protagonist voices.

I wish they would go back to their roots like THQ originally planned before going away

LMAO! I just started playing Persona 3 not too long ago. Awesome game. I wonder if anyone's tried to make Rise Kujikawa on SR3?

Dunno but my girlfriend was able to LARP as a Kanji Tatsumi lookalike with the Troy Baker voice.

I've been on some of the Saints Row fan sites and a few people who have gotten a chance to play it say it is a lot of fun.  They couldn't say anything in detail do to signing a non-disclosure agreement but they said that should expire near E3 so they can talk more about it.

It has been no secret that SR4 was originally going to be a stand alone expansion (Enter the Dominatrix, which was a decision from THQ) but from what I have been hearing the game succeeds in what all games need to be.... fun.
