I normally play Platinum, really all I play now but I had no one on and felt like PUGing Gold.  I went into 3 random games and no one put on equipment, is this normal in Gold now?  I always put on something in any difficulty.  It was a typical PUG...they would go down constantly and never use a gel, run across the map and get instakilled.  I just thought in Gold/Platinum gear is pretty much a must?

That or it's just the way random games go.

By the way, your title is a tad misleading, I thought this was a power creep thread.

Finding a decent pug gold lobby is harder than the actual difficulty. Pugz gonna pug.

All the time. I generally don't use equipment either when this occurs, as I figure it won't make a difference in the gameplay. Either they are good enough to not need it, or they are so bad that we will probably wipe and I will lose my equipment...

I've been using low-level equipment in Gold since I burned all my high-level stuff trying for a solo.

Or, sometimes, if I'm low on stuff, I'll just grab a high-level ammo (which I always have plenty of, for some reason) and leave the other two blank.

I can perform pretty well with low-level stuff or just ammo, though. Not top-scoreboard every time well, but cover team, do objectives, and help us all get extracted. And sometimes top the scoreboard.

I will usually just back out and look for another match if this happens. It's usually only about half of the gold matches in my experience.

I went into a gold lobby the other day and was asked why I was wasting IV consumables on gold. I told them I had 40+ of all the ones I was using so why not. I then asked them if they played Platinum and they all said no. So when I asked what they were saving their IV consumables for they said for when they are ready to start playing platinum. After playing with them they have a long way to go before they are ready.

It's pretty common. I don't use equipment a lot when gold pugging.

Yeah, it's hard sometimes to find lobbies where people bother to use equipment.

I refuse to play with them because they never gel or use missiles, and tend to quit once they've bled out.

I used to not use equipment when I first moved up to gold, and was doing pretty good. I started adding equipment just cuz... I don't see it as a prerequisite when I look at the other pugs.

I just hate when people don't rocket/gel when they need to.

ummm since when was gold hard?? gold is the difficulty you play when you dont feel like wasting equipment.

The gear thing though.. i cant answer that..... laziness i guess

I hear ya, I probably don't need it either.  After playing so much Platinum, Gold feels extremely easy but still....I have gear, I will use it.

There is zero excuse not to use at least mid to low level equipment on gold.

One of the guys went down right at the start of the last wave and didn't get up...he was across the map. I said why didn't you gel? His response was, well look at the scoreboard....you are obviously carrying us so why bother doing anything.

Pretty much the same for me. But after the 5th lobby with the same I give in and play. And only use lowest level equipment and cross my fingers. Sometimes it actually works out. If they all start bleeding out in the first couple waves, I rack it up as a loss, and move on. Mostly I get annoyed by them not using missiles or gels, and wiping. I am only very rarely good enough to carry whole team of bad pugs on gold.

I sort of envy those with an abundance of gear. When I went on a shopping spree after the DLC (not a big one) I ended up with about 4-12 of each lvl IV equipment. But then I burned through them all (not making much credits because amost half the solo attempts ended before Wave 6 objectives were completed.)

If I had lots of III and IV, I would certainly use them. But right now it's all 1 and 2 (except for ammo amps. I have more of those than everything else combined. I always use ammo amps, so I don't know why.)

Yea after the DLC shopping spree I had a ton of level IV gear.  In Gold pugs I will use at least my level II stuff if I have any.
