but they don`t understand that this game is always about Earning and not losing.
There is no better way to earn credits than to play Gold / Plat.
The Gold / Plat game you are in right now, is just as important as any future game you will ever play.
Some PuG doesn`t understand this, so they try to save equipment/consumables for better Gold/Plat match when they are Needed (which is a dillusion)

Any half-decent player will have more than enough credits to buy equipment with no need to be miserly about it. Every Spectre pack yields 5 consumables and 3 level III equipment.
Meh, depends what you mean by 'decent'.
Some players will focus all their attention on arsenal/spectre packs trying to improve their weapons as fast as they can and result in very few consumables. Others prefer to play only one or two classes, which drains them of consumables specific to those classes. Also, some players don't see the jumbo equipment pack as an option, since it technically doesn't afford them any -permanent- improvements, which a lot of players see as superior to consumables.
Myself, I'll use consumables based on what I'm doing. Yesterday I had three new players (sub 200 N7) join my Geth/Gold farming, and one of them didn't even know that gear bonuses (bottom right equip slot) were permanent, and weren't consumed. Two weeks ago I might've been horrified at the thought of running gold with these guys, but when you've run a map a good hundred times, using the Krolord against Geth, you really don't care (besides, these guys had a liking for classes with overload - E-hammer explosions galore!).

So this is interesting, typically I find the people who use equipment. Personally I don't use equipment just because I don't find it necessary. I like to use it when I play Platinum, and I play platinum a lot. When I do play golds though I find the incredibly easy. Also unlike some people I find my self seeing people waste missiles which annoys me beyond belief when we easily could have killed the atlas, or whatever. No one uses medi though... BTW before I get ****ed out, I typically top the score board without using equipment on gold.
The problem, I have, is that there is no way to differentiate between players, who can top the scoreboard without equipment, from those who see you do so, try to follow your example, and choke.
I find that the majority of the time, no gear and no consumables = frequent dying, no gel, and no rockets, with a 'wipe' on wave 7. I'm still a scrub, and can't solo gold, so I can't carry wave after wave. It is not fun for me, when this happens. Yes, I will learn to solo gold. But that is not the answer. PUGging and soloing are different experiences. I enjoy the team aspect, it does nothing for my ego to carry or wipe.
Honestly, I don't understand what people have against equipping consumables.

1. 50% chance the host is bad/the host is on the other side of planet due to no network quality control.
2. 50% chance of horrid players that hopes for a free drag trough gold.
Both theese 2 scenarios i usually exit before 3rd wave.
If the grp (especially host) are good i start to use consumables after first match to speed up the matches.
Also there are several classes where i feel consumables do little to no diffference, no matter difficulty.

All good points. I have all my level 1 gear basically maxed at 255 for everything. What is so hard about using it? Nothing! Put on armor piercers of incendiary....anything that will kill things faster, create explosions. I like getting through games quick...games where no one using anything goes incredibly slow. Like yesterdays game I posted about...it took 26 mins to complete a gold game on Giant. I play Giant...a lot...on Platinum and it takes me and my regulars I play with 20 mins to complete. So for a Gold game to last 6 mins longer because people refuse to use gear...it is a shame.

I find that most equipment I put on is not going to make the difference between winning and losing. Sure the game might go faster if I put on AP ammo or something, or I might score higher, but if I'm in a team that sucks, then it's destined to fail either way. Likewise, if I get a good team, we're going to win either way as well.
Medigels, rockets, and all round smart game play will usually decide if a game is won or lost. And lag. Actually lag is probably the single biggest contributing factor to my performance in a game, by a wide margin.

I wound up last man standing, and my friend got the idea to bail and get a reinvite so he could help me out. Well, I held off for as long as I could with the Volus chiming in every now and then with discouraging statements like: "Just give up" and "Do you really need to unlock more stuff? Just quit". Guys like me never quit; I have my honor and pride as a good player. But even I'm not invincible to a Banshee sneaking up behind me and grabbing me by teleporting through the wall... My friend came back just as I died, but he got grabbed too since the Banshee was hanging out around the LZ and snagged him before he could so much as fully load into the match. Then the Volus says to me: "So are we going to play a serious match now?"
....
All that equipment and time lost...and the guy has the audacity to ask for a "serious" match afterwards. He was the one clamouring to play Platinum since he joined our lobby!!! When we finally complied to his wishes, he just added insult to injury!
Moral of the story: if someone joins your lobby and wants to play platinum but doesn't use any equipment, they're not going to take it seriously at all.

Some gamers have become too cocky for my tastes. I was playing a match recently where it as requested of me--the lobby leader--to set the match to platinum. Well, a friend of mine and I went in with gear and the serious intent to win, while the other two putzed around like it was all a big joke. The one guy I could understand since he's just there for the moral support, but the other guy... Well, he ran around as a Volus doing a grand total of zilch--not even healing me--and got grabbed each wave.

I remember getting bait-and-switched into a Gold lobby last night by a Volus Adept. Which of course meant I only had a Stronghold Package on. At first I was perfectly content with trying, but not using any of my stuff... but the Geth Infiltrator and Fury on my team (who were both randoms as well) were trying that hard. After Wave 3 I decided that I'd use my stuff if need be, to help them and not make their use of equipment in vain. The Volus only started using consumables around Wave 8.
What to take home from this: Don't EVER give a Volus the opportunity to mess with the difficulties. They'll always want it higher so they can sit around and do nothing even harder.

That's another thing! The guy wouldn't even touch his gels or rockets!
I don't like to discriminiate since I know if well-played a Volus can be a good asset for the team, but honest to goodness, the next time I see a Volus in my platinum lobby, I will switch it to gold. At least that I know we can three-man (or I can solo when push comes to shove) while the Volus tra-la-la's off to its death.

Every gold pug I get into I end up tripling sometimes quadrupling the 2nd place score. And yes, they NEVER use equipment EVER. I don't understand it. I always have good equipment ready, and I would never roll without it. I don't understand how literally 9/10 (probably even a higher ratio than that) of gold puggers refuse to use equipment, and then refuse to use consumables in the game.
It is baffling, and frustrating.
I still have fun because I am good enough now to carry any crappy team to victory, but it still bugs me sometimes when I have to waste that 1 or 2 extra gel/missiles/etc due to their lack of... brains.

Let me just add one more thing: I think skilled players can do gold without equipment, but a gear bonus is a must.
Agreed! but when else are you going to use those lv1 and 2 equipments? Platinum?
maybe it is a matter of preference but I wouldn't. When I play platinum I go all out (lv3 and 4 equipment all the way
