"This thing is so crappy, I can't believe anyone would ever like it" or "this thing is so amazing, I can't believe anyone would dislike it" don't seem insulting to me unless you're the person who made the thing. I hate the Star Wars Prequel movies and my mind was actually boggled when I recently met someone over the age of 10 who liked them. Do I think anyone who likes those movies is a retard? No I don't, even though I think the movies themselves are retarded. People have different tastes and different things that they like or dislike. Who cares if someone hates something you like? Calm it down.
I thought the scene in the deep roads with your sibling dying if you don't bring Anders was sad. The first sibling dying 3 minutes after they're introduced made me feel nothing. The scene with your mother could have been sad, but fell short IMO. It was just way too over-the-top and very cheesy and anime feeling. It relied on the fact that almost everyone has or used to have a mother, and can identify "how would I feel if my mom died?" I liked the potential feelings of guilt you could have had if she had died in a way that made more sense, tied into the story, and was your fault. (and I did love the scene with Gamlen afterwards) It would be cool if it was different based on your class:
Warrior/Rogue: Mages you had wronged earlier were looking for you to exact their revenge on you but she got in the way/was there when you weren't/etc...
Mage: She is hanged in the square by Templars for harboring an apostate (you)
Something like either of those scenarios would be really appealing to me, coupled with a story that recognizes you or your companions as mages and doesn't randomly give you a free pass for being an apostate. (you're pro-mage, you have to work hard for the mage underground and they help keep you hidden through safehouses and tunnels and such or you're pro-templar and even if you're a mage you're the templar's servant, rooting out apostates etc...)
I actually would love to be able to have more choices in how my character would react to things, and be able to show more or less emotion depending. For example when if you romance Fenris, he leaves you and you get to either break up with him for good either through dialogue or just hooking up with someone else, or be very patient and understanding and have it not really affect you. Where is my option to start crying when Aveline asks "how do you and Fenris deal with your relationship having such crazy lives" or Anders "are you sure about Fenris?" I think there are 2 options to bring up your second sibling's death in the whole game (and both you are trying to convince someone not to kill THEIR sibling) and none to bring up your first sibling or mother after the events are concluded. You don't even get to say anything to Orsino when you find out he was helping Dr. Frankenmom. I would like to be able to cry and scream in a very sad scene, to be super compassionate and understanding even when a companion or NPC is being horrible to you but also being able to express that your feelings are hurt...and you know what? I don't even know what I'm saying right now about anything
