I'm looking at changing this, but cannot seem to track down if this is a simple 2da edit or hardcoded.  Has anyone done this, and know what direction to point me?

I think it would be awesome, and make complete RP sense for a Monk to be able to use a Quarterstaff this way.

I think you can do it with kama's. So maybe that's a clue of how to get them to do it weapons.
Wherever the exception is listed for kama's you could add in staves.

The wiki is not conclusive, but suggests that its hardcoded to the Kama base item. Perhaps an item that looks like a quarter staff and animates like a quarter staff could be added to the kamas, but... its not the same thing.

Ah. I thought that might be the case.
Though since all it does is add one attack per rd and lower all attacks -2 it seems you could script that.
Of course if you did this it would not be selelctable.
Or as it indicates in the wiki add it as an item property and then only make that item useable by monks.
Here again though it would not show up as a selectable feat.

As I thought. I read the Wiki as well, and noticed that it can be added as an item feat, but I would think it would still only fire properly for Kamas, unless I am mistaken. Thanks for looking, fellas.

@ Henesua. Modeling is beyond me, I'm afraid, so getting a kama to at least look and animate like a QS is beyond me. And, as you noticed, it would not have that extra off-hand attack as well.

Well you could always do it onequipped, and if it's a staff and the equipper is a monk just give them an extra attack, and a -2 to hit. To get back to normal just reverse the process.
I do something similar with armor adding bonuses without having to change the cost for the item.
Useful for making items that are expensive but don't cost so much, nor can they be sold for big gains. Thus my plate armor is -4 dodge AC(in the toolset), but +2 AC vrs all physical attacks.

Not of much use though in regards to monk since their normal monk attack bonus would not work.
There should be a feat like form, or kata that allows you to select a weapon and use your monk ab with it.
Usually you would only take 1 or possibly 2 weapons, a slasher perhaps so that a monk could cover all 3 weapon types. As can most fighting types, without taking a minus.

Beyond me at this point as well, but could be done.

Another thing to try is to rename and number a quarter staff so that it identifies as a kama. Much easier to do. DOn't know how it will look animated though. Worth a try.

We have something similar to this on Aventia 3, although not exactly. We use nwnx_cool to allow monks to use a variety of weapons (quarterstaff, katana, bows, sling [I think] and shurken [I think]) and retain their unarmed monk attack bonus. They can't flurry them, but they get all the other extra attacks with them like they do with kamas/unarmed.

nwn preloader can do the same thing and load hak ahead of character creation even in multiplayer

It says it includes a weapon hak for cep and feats. So my supposition is that it can add weapons to the monks repetoire without penalty. I am not saying it can, what I am saying though is that is what he, ShadowM, is saying. 'Nuff said.

Sorry posted it right before bed, I mean it like Lazarus Magni it let you pick what weapons are monk weapons, but does not let you flurry with them from my testing with it. I let you add custom weapons that let you put weapon focus on them etc.. The maker explains it more in another area of the forums. I do not know if he still around, but maybe send him email and maybe he can mod. it so it does allow flurries.

Ahh we do it without a hak, but that's very nice too. One of those hidden gems out there in NWN.
