I am wondering if this is hardcoded:
PC transitions to a new area.
Familiar and Summons are with the PC in the new area upon arrival.
I removed the forcefollow from their AI. And am not using the default transition trigger script.
In other words, if I wanted to prevent a Familiar from jumping to their master on area transition, and on dispossession, what would I need to do?

It seems to me that the familiar and its master/mistress are bound to always remain in the same area.
While my own experiences don't directly relate to yours, each time I tried to possess my familiar, and try to move away from the area in that the "lifeless" main character was, it resulted in a failure. Familiars cannot interact with anything (triggers, characters, placeables) and timed (teleport) spells applied to them externally won't work as expected either.
Barring some progress with NWN©x, I don't see how we could go past beyond that hardcoded limitation (I'd love to be proven wrong, of course).

I've never had a problem transitioning while possessing a familiar.
It is true however that familiars are not able to interact with items or placeables. Conversations don't seem to work with them either.

Yes, familiars/henchmen jump to the new area with the owner. As far as I know, this is hardcoded.
