The good:
- Visual design
- Soundtrack
- Tedious, never-ending combat
- Story refuses to explore difficult situations the premise presents
- Mechanics clash with the narrative

Well, that was unexpected. I agree it's nowhere near a 10 or even the 9 GameSpot gave it but I'm not entirely certain it deserves a 4. Still, Mc Shea makes some valid points particularly in regards to the ending and how it doesn't bother explaining the why.
I wonder how long it'll be before we start seeing 4-star reviews for The Last of Us or GTA V?
On a more serious note, this makes me even more suspicious of early 10/10 reviews. It would seem a lot of reviewers buy into the hype early and review accordingly, what at the end of the day leaves us with few truthful reviews. Note that I say "truthful" and not "objective," since very few aspects of a game can be described objectively and, truth be told, what we're really looking for is the reviewer's opinion more than the facts about the game. A long time ago I read a quote that I can't quite locate again but it read along the lines of "objectivity is boring" and I think it applies when reviewing a game, or a book, or a movie. We can dredge up the facts about the game ourselves, we can easily determine at how many fps it runs, whether it has a FOV slider, etc.; but the question we really want an answer to is whether we'll connect. Do we connect to this game? Do we connect to the people playing it? Do I agree with him? Does she have a valid point? In reading other people's opinions we end up learning more about our likes, dislikes, about ourselves. And that's never a bad thing, right?
Ah, enough philosophy. This is what happens when you listen to the song of the Tenth's death at 8 in the morning.

He gave Beyond Two Souls a 9/10. The review for that should still be on the main page.

I dont actually consider a site having multiple reviewers a bad thing. Find a reviewer you trust that shares your opinions and keep an eye on them. For the people who genuinely thought the game was that overrated I am sure they will follow this persons opinions more, personally I will not.

A reviewer trying to be clever and break from the crowd. Very poor analysis. There are criticisms to be made of the game, but none of his make any sense. Too many mobs? Mindless shooter? Did he actually play Bioshock?
as well as the stupid turns the story had to take to ensure you had an enemy to kill remorselessly.

In general, I thought Infinite's gameplay was atrocious. Plasmids felt too similar, the new trap mechanics didn't really do anything impressive, and the entire experience felt like a rail shooter. There were no desperate struggles, virtually everything could be taken apart with my machine gun. I also wasn't a fan of how the game attempted to segregate the combat sections from the non-combat areas.
Also Columbia itself was beautiful at first, but didn't quite have the same intrigue as Rapture.

Never understood the two-weapon restriction. If it were a third-person shooter were you could actually see your character carrying the weapons then maybe you could make the case of weight and volume being a factor. The explanation that you'll be switching weapons throughout the game in different situations is bogus to me, I stuck with the same two guns throughout the game.
