Whats wrong with wanting to know why RTO is being held back?

Whats wrong with not wanting toi tell you? Why should they waste their time giving details of what they are doing to the general public? Why is it any of your business? When it's done they will release it and you can buy it or not as you choose. This whole "right to know" thing is total BS - it's broke they are fixing it - get over it or go away and play something else if the wait is more than you can bear. It's a freaking five dollar add- on to a game not the cure for cancer we are talking about here - Image IPB

Would you make the same kind of stink to Coca Cola if the local 7-11 ran out one day and they weren't sure when the next shipment would arrive or McDonalds canceled their new salad becuase they didn't get the dressing delivered on time for the grand opening? Get a grip people...it's not the end of the world and Bioware is not the evil incarnate.

you seriously expected a release to come out over the weekend? You do realise that any fix will have to go through certification first right?

I take it you've played it on your 360 then?

As for this question "Why should they waste their time giving details of what they are doing to the general public?"
Myself and many others are not the "General public" we are paying customers who have purchased Bioware Points in advance for RTO!

We don't need to know everything they doing every minute of the day all we need is simply this.
"Hi guys sorry we are still busy working on it and we don't have an ETA" thats it.

I've got it on the 360 and i can assure you that the content within RTO really doesn't justify people getting their Daisy Dukes in a twist.  The way this thread has evolved i can only come to the conclusion that many, many people are going to be disappointed.  I'm not saying RTO is bad, what i am saying though, is it's very light on content and apart from wanting the weapons again, you're not going to play it a second time for the story, that's for sure.

Seriously, RTO isn't worth losing sleep over.

Hello Dragon Age fans

This morning a title update on the Xbox 360 for Dragon Age: Origins was made available in preparation for the release of Return to Ostagar. This title update introduced a previously undetected issue that causes specialization classes to not work correctly in Dragon Age: Origins. We are removing Return to Ostagar from Xbox Live until the issue is resolved and are recommending that you do not download the title update.  If you have already performed the update, we apologize for this and are working hard to ensure a fix is available as soon as possible.

We will provide more information to you when it is available.

I did not down load the DLC but, i've lost my specializations that I previously unlocked.. ???

If your on xbox there is an easy fix, go into your system menu and highlight memory, this will bring up your hard drive, then hit y which will bring up the available options for your hard drive, highlight clear system cache and hit a to confirm, let it do it's thing then turn off the xbox, wait about 30 seconds and turn it back on, boot up DAO and level up your character, all your specs should be back :)
P.S.
I got RTO while it was still up and after deleting the update had no problems with it, I'm not sure why it hasn't been made available again.

How do you know that BioWare doesn't want to tell why?    Are you a BioWare employee with authorization to speak for them publicly?  If so, what other inside information do you have that you can share with us?

If you are not a BioWare employee (and obviously, you're not), then I think it's entirely wrong of you to speak as if you know insider information.

Personally, I'd rather have working specs than an achievement, but if it matters that much to you, get the achievement and then delete the update.

I love the ebbs and flows of this thread. Rants and raves on both sides. Then middle ground is kinda found. then random chatter about nothing. then someone starts up the rants (or someone asks a simple question and gets ranted at) and it all starts again.

The fix was never going to be released this weekend. Unless MS are feeling nice, the fix will require certification before it can be passed on. Without speculating we can't know, but the likelihood is that there is a contract of simultaneous release for the pc and xbox versions; so until the xbox version is ready pc users just have to wait.

There is a workaround for the 360 but not everyone has had success with it; so it can't be considered a fix at this time. Plus, there is no guarantee that the workaround may/may not affect something else.

there really isn't much more to be said. It will come when it is ready (or likely when all versions are ready). No amount of ranting/crying/threatening and/or ridiculing Bioware is really going to change that.

I do agree with some points, but I also believe a reply to some questions would be much appreciated by the fans.

Oh, believe me I would like to see updates as much as the next person; but expecting to see them on here answering questions over the weekend? That is just not realistic. Not to say I don't sympathise with the 360 users who are still having problems, but for those who just want the dlc I doubt they would all give up their weekends to get something done for their work (and I say this as a general statement because I can think of at least one person who will say they would).

But these guys at Bioware have probably been working pretty hard to date - I doubt pushing them further will really help - it will probably lead to more mistakes. They have definitely made some mistakes with regard to this dlc, but we should be past the point of letting it get to us - especially over a weekend.

I'm sure Bioware are trying their best to get this out to us as soon as possible. The only real problem I have is the way certain people respond to the very basic question some of us have raised regarding this issue. I mean we aren't asking for the codes to launch nuclear missiles now are we?  Everybody deserves a break and I don't think anybody here expected a weekend release.

You, like many others, have missed the point.

We are not annoyed about RtO. We are annoyed with the unprofessionalism and lack of communication from BioWare. They are a highly rated professional company, so why are they acting in such an amateur-like manner? Quite a few of us PC gamers (and some 360 ones) have placed money down in anticipation because BioWare gave us a release date. I'd suspect BioWare Points purchasing rocketed on the 4th of Jan, or maybe that week at least. We were there ready on the 5th of Jan until BioWare turned around and delayed it, right at the very last minute. We were given no indication as to when we'd be able to get it until the next week, when BioWare delayed the content AGAIN, but this time without even so much as a "Sorry PC gamers, we've delayed RtO".

This could be over Awakening, Mass Effect 2, RtO, Stone Prisoner, TOR... Anything. It just so happens that RtO is the 'cause'.

Imho they've seriously dropped the ball. The DLC probably should have been released around 4 weeks ago.

Most people have completed it now, interest has massively waned.

If the RTO has slipped so much, it doesnt fill me with much hope for the expansion Awakening and Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 are looking much more attractive titles to spend my money on.

Respect to those who've hung on, it was a cracking game and the I'm sure extras will be decent, but they'll never echo the sells of Fallout 3 dlc's simply because few can take the release dates seriously anymore..

This! ^^^^^   It has less to do with RTO itself or any sense of entitlement like a few people don't seem to understand. Its the total lack of professionalism and lack of communication.

Soo wtf is going on with the PC version i understand the 360 one has issues, what i dont understand is why the pc or ps3 releases for that matter ,are being delayed as well, it seems it is just a 360 problem why are the rest of the other customers being made to wait?

Why dont they just kill the dlc like they did for mass effect 1 there was supposed to be alot of dlc for that , and all we got was two half assed add-ons.

Reposting this as I just had to delete a half dozen random spam comments:

I would like to remind people (again) that random discussions do not belong in this thread. This thread has a very specific purpose, and people carrying on completely unrelated discussions is an actively disruptive act, since it prevents people with problems from easily keeping track of what is going on.

Everyone is more than welcome to discuss "Title Update, Specialization issue and Return to Ostagar Update " in this thread.

Any other discussion does not belong here. Please, show some respect for your fellow community members.

Thanks.

Be careful to lean on something solid when you bend over. When you drop the ball hard multiple times, but even more, when you prompt and encourage customers to give you money beforehand with silly "points" programs, you have a responsibility to communication. The only "bs" here are the fanboys that come to whine about people that complain legitimately about a quite unacceptable lapse in actually informative communication.

considering how many software houses have their employees work week ends when needed, expecially when they mess up and need to recover, it's absolutely relistic. When there's professionalism, respect for one's audience and awareness of the fact that they messed up, at least.

@Torias: with all due respect this thread is losing it's purpose since no one is deigning to put any real information in it. It's quite obvious that people start jesting, in order to vent their disappointment. If there's any lack of respect towards the community, and expecially the customers, I'm afraid it comes from Bioware.

Mistakes are made..and how do you know that things aren't being worked on?   Just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean they are sitting on their thumbs like some would like to imagine.
