Only the 360 version had a problem right? Why the heck won't they release the PC/PS3 version :( I really hope this doesn't go until Feb.

I suppose they believe that it will P.O. the 360 gamers if that happened. Which makes sense. They probably want everyone to suffer equally so no one feels left out.

So what about the 360 players currently playing the dodgy version? Don't they think that may be P.O. the ones waiting for a release?

Absolutley.

So they risk P.O'ing off everyone and potentially lose a bigger number of customers/consumers/fans than the number of people playing on the 360? I don't/can't see the logic in that

Basically, wicked_being, it works as thus:

The 360 is the single biggest slice of the gaming market, and I'm going to assume the 360 version sold better, as it often does. Therefore it's the largest portion of their user base.

If BioWare were to release RtO on the PC and PS3 then they'd be sidelining the biggest percentage of users. Combine it with the fact RtO was released early and (combined with an update) has temporarily rendered the game unplayable, I don't think they're willing to take many more risks with RtO.

They've come under a lot of flak from their customers over this, and I assure you that the lack of DLC quickly became a minor problem.

OMG people ... get over it. RtO will come out when it comes out.

If your tired of waiting then just go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure until RtO is released, and stop your yapping!

Oh god I remember the outrage over the Pinnacle Station DLC for ME1, didn't that take over a year for release after the initial release date given and then most people also hated the content... I sure hope RTO isn't going to be the same.

Well, awaiting DA-RtO, I went out and bought ME and then discovered I couldn't get it to run, so I contacted support. They told me to uninstall Windows 7 and install Windows XP. What sort of support is that?

Experience? Common sense?

The 360's been out longer than the PS3 for a start. Modern Warfare 2 on the 360 was the best selling game of 2009 as well, and Halo: ODST was ~9th on that list.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if Dragon Age sold more on the PC, but I have a strong feeling it's sold more copies on the 360.

So whats lamer, the screen keyboard or the person using the screen keyboard to reply to a post on a forum that the user blasts for people having no life and commenting on yet that same user responded with a meaning less post and put in extra effort on a device that is hard to use in the first place...... Makes you think

You sir are a bafoon......with all due respect.

A big chunk of the 360's installed base is made by faulty systems that have been replaced, so I wouldn't be so quick saying that 360 has a much bigger installed base than the PS3, and the marging is shrinking by the day. At the moment the PS3 is "the console to have" for hardcore gamers, and the trend is in it's favor.
Not all games sell more on the 360. Actually lately it's quite an equal comparison if not fav orable for the PS3. Some kind of games sell more on the 360, some on the PS3. Modern Warfare has a very strong online component and is a shooter, thing that caters to the 360 crowd more. Arkham Asylum sold more on PS3, just to make an example. To name some others, Tekken, Street Fighter IV, basicallty all sport games (like Madden or PES). You can bet your pants that the PS3 sales of Final Fantasy XIII will obliterate the 360 ones despite it being multiplatform. Also, you can easily expect that Gran Turismo 5 (if it's not a legend :P) will outsell Forza 3 by at the very least 2 to 1.

Given that DA:O on PC sold more than Total War, and it's one of the games that the PC gaming community was awaiting most eagerly, while on the 360 it's rather lackluster due to the bad controls, I can pretty much assure you than the PC version outsold the 360 one by quite a good chunk. Not only that, but the 360 version has pretty much collapsed in sales after release, as most consoles titles do. Due to the moddability of the game and word of mouth, the PC version will probably go on selling quite well for months to come. So the gap between the PC and the 360 version is bound to increase.

umh, and?

Mass Effect 2 will for sure be a great game. Better than DA:O? Debatable. Mass Effect 1 was not.
Hopefully Mass Effect 2's characters are better written than in the first game, otherwise we're in for some disappointment.

well, because of it, pc/ps3 owners are getting screwed as well. so in other words, everybody is getting screwed. (that almost sounds too dirty).

I can not really comment on the characters since I am only like 3 hours in maybe. Everytime I get on a elevator I start thinking of all the other things I can do and wander off.
A;sp being ex-military I tend to have a problem with when I point my gun at somebody, shoot, and then the bullet veers off at a 30 degree angle right out the barrel :(
I want to like it I really do and I really hate leaving a story "half read" but it just might not be my cup of tea.

In November, at least, Dragon Age sold more on the 360 than any other platform.

Can't find any figures that are more recent, but I would warrant the trend continued.

More than two weeks now. So does anyone still believe that BW is working hard on this? BW has some much bigger deadlines coming up and, one assumes, the RtO would have been 'pre-reassigned' to something else if BW did not in fact know until the last minute that RtO was nonfunctional. It is hard to believe that a competent company could take so long to correct this, given it is a very small add-on to an existing game, assuming there were adequate resources assigned to the task. Suspect this has been given to the night janitor to have a whirl after cleaning the toilets. They certainly haven't 'wasted' any resources keeping their customer base informed of progress, quite possibly because there has been none and will be none for awhile. Ah well, morning update check complete, back to Oblivion.

You forgot the fact that NPD considers only the american market, and in the US the 360 is quote a lot bigger than in the rest of the world.

Also, NPD only considers brick and mortar stores. They include no data from Digital Distribution. A lot of PC gamers bought DA:O from Steam and other online providers like Direct2Drive. DA:O has topped the chart for both initially, and has been hovering near the top for a while. That's not really a small chunk of sales, expecilaly since the PC market has shifted very very heavily on digital distribution lately.

So yeah, it's very, very likely that the PC version outsold the 360 one, and the gap will increase further.

If you mean Mass Effect 2, then it's inconsequential. Mass Effect 2 is worked on by Bioware Montreal, while Dragon Age is made by Bioware Edmonton. Different teams for different games.

. Ah well, morning update check complete, back
to Oblivion.

Was this a snide way to "punish" bioware telling "I'm going to play the game made by your rivals! neener neener!"
Yanno, settling for an inferior game just to "punish" bioware in the end punishes only you :D
