So much for the console versions having no impact on the PC version.
This.
Not that I think that they should have not developed the title for consoles. The times are what they are and consoles are too big of a slice of the market to be able to develop a true AAA game while ignoring them. It simply won't happen, and we all know. Maybe, though it'd be a good idea to separate PC development and timelines from that of consoles. the PS3 version has an evidently separate roadmap. I'd say it's time for the 360 version to join it's colleague.
On bioware's behalf, the playtesting department of basically every major company in the gaming market received a severe hit from the current economy situation. When most software houses have been forced to lay off a portion of their employees, QA departments all over the world have been maimed. I have quite a few friends that earned their groceries by playtesting games, and I'd say at least a 60% of them had to go out find an "honest" job during 2009.
The same happened with EA (I was a major fan of Warhammer Online, and saw it's quality sadly sink like the Titanic as the QA team was hit by layoff after layoff) and as part of EA I can't help but think that the same happened to Bioware. The result is probably what we see now.
Now, the night has passed, and we got (understandably) no real answers. The waiting game begins again as office hours in Edmonton approach. Again, I (and i'm sure most here share the same sentment) would like to see a bit more transparent communication today.
I'd say our patience as customers (and many of us are paying customers, since we were led to believe that the PC DLC was to be released yesterday, and as such, we already paid for it with nothing to show for our money) has to be matched with a bit of honesty.
Does the bug directly affects the PC version of the game too?If not, please just release it. There's no real reason to hold it back further to appease Microsoft. we have waited enough, and ironically many xbox360 gamers could already play the DLC with no problems, leaving us in the dust.
If yes, please give us a clear release date. Or at least a realistic timeframe. We have waited enough and have faced a bit too many "last minute" delays for confort. A "we'll make an announcement at a later date, thanks for all the fish" honestly doesn't cut it anymore.
I understand what people at Bioware might be going through, and I'm sympathetic. But I honestly believe we gave you and your "give as little information possible" policy quite a bit of leeway already. I'd say it's time for a change in this policy.
Thank you.
