They sure don't have a contract with Sony, given that they have been screwing up PS3 users from the very start (in Europe the whole game has been released late on PS3).
If they have a contract with Microsoft, all they have to do is to actually say that. When you have a crowd of angry customers because you didn't handle a product well, information and transparency are the key to keep an healthy relationship with your customer base.
This, of course, without mentioning that Microsoft released the DLC too early because they don't leash their server monkeys well enough, breaching any kind of contract they may have themselves. After that, they would really be slap material (more than they already are) if they tried to enforce any simultaneous release deal.
This is a really pathetic display. I bought BioWare Points yesterday because I was told, yet again, that this thing would be available. I've now spent more time reading about delays than I will spend actually playing this rather small piece of DLC. So pathetic. XBOX360 has serious problems (my friend can't access ANY DLC unless he is constantly connected to the internet, which he isn't so the DLC doesn't work for him at all even though he purchased it and downloaded like you would any NORMAL DLC). And then the 360 finally gets a patch.... and it fixes achievements? Achievements? What kind of FUBAR prioritizing is that? Except, the patch ALSO breaks your ******* game. Lovely. Well, I don't have a 360 version of DA, thank ******* god, so can I please get what I paid for already with this trite little trinket of a DLC that is apparently complicated enough to make your company look like it's run by total amateurs? Or is some other BioWare exec going to come here and lie to me some more today so as to extract more of my money for promised goods that simply never show up (or break your ******* game)?
Really don't think any lies have been told...if you're THAT upset..time to go punch a pillow or run around the block.
Its a game.....its not the end of the world, nobody killed your dog. I promise. They..if you read the Bioware comments at the top of this thread, have been working to fix things, patches..they pulled the dlc, which I hear was released too early by Microsoft, but don't quote me.
Things go wrong..thats how it is. For downloading anything on the Net you need to be connected to it. As for how consoles work..I dunno would assume the same thing? There is a workaround for some of the things you mentioned, see above my post, others have said that there are workarounds, just takes having to do some things again I would imagine. OR you could wait for the patch that fixes these things.
I have a lot of sympathy for the folks at Bioware as I imagine they have encountered a lot of unexpected difficulties trying to cope with DLC across multiple platforms.
However, the frustrating thing about this is that I had just got used to the aborted January 5th release and was settling in for a wait of a few weeks. Now this has happened and I am once again back here refreshing this forum every half hour to see if there is any more news about the release.

They HAVE to work with Sony and Microsoft for the certifications.....so there must be some sort of contractual agreements in place for that to happen. Right?
ME2 pre-order cancelled. I'll wait a year and buy it used. That should give you guys at BioWare time to fix the game, ******* break it, and then fix it again.
Seriously, it was a slow drain, but all confidence I have in this company is gone. It's one thing to be inept and stupid, but it's another to make constant false claims to your customers. It doesn't sit well with me at all.
Prepare to get your ass handed to you, elitist scumbag.

Scumbag. . .
Oh I get it your one of toughs. . . .You know they guy/girl/it (( don’t wanna leave anyone out)) who, when they don’t have a solid argument resort to name calling.
The thing is there wasn't an argument to begin with, until now.
wikkedjoker wrote... PC games on average, sell less than the console. Now this could be in part to the fact that you get say MassEffect 1at a Christmas release date (( or there about)) on the 360 and than in May it come out on the PC. The Console is easier to develop for, considering you only need to build your game for one operating system, and, not say 4 or 5.
Which means what exactly? That because consoles sell more games than pc it means the pc is dying? Isn't that what people said in the early 90's?
Which brings back my original point, if pc gaming is dying, why do the majority of developers out there still develop games for the pc? Why are there still pc exclusives?
The answer is simple, even if pc games don't sell as much as the console, companies are still making profit and in the world of capitalizm, every company is out to make as much money as they can.
And you clearly have no idea to what you are talking about about games being easier to develop on consoles because you have no clue how difficult it is to optimize games to run on the ps3's cell processor.
And when exactly are pc games being developed for "4-5" operating systems? You DO realize there is only "one" operating system which is called windows? XP, vista and 7 are simply different versions of the operating system, a game that workds on one is likely to work on the others.
wikkedjoker wrote... What’s driving the PC right now is Sims-type games and ‘WoW’ and a lot of stuff that’s in a Web-based interface, oh and the people still playing Crisis, and maybe some Unreal Tournament. You do know that there are ALOT of multiplatform games out there that hundreds to thousands of pc players playing everyday?
These are a simple list of games(that is mere compared to the amount of current gen games out there) that are on the pc.

^ Sorry spud, you have NO idea as to what you are talking about.
wikkedjoker wrote... True everyone’s got a PC, but at $199 and $299, consoles are far cheaper than a PC. Consoles are also built for 7-10 year cycles, (( regardless of the failure rate.)) PC’ it seems like there’s a new OS every 3-5 years, granted this is needed for the PC, for other things and not just gaming.
Right, i have been using XP ever since i gamed on the pc and i never needed to upgrade my OS because it was unnecessary seeing that games still run on windows xp as they do on vista and 7.
What the hell are you talking about anyways?
wikkedjoker wrote... (( thank God for windows 7 )) That goes back to the specs. I will agree that some games look good on the PC, but more often than not the console will look better, its not that the PC can’t, its just if you don’t want the game to crash you wont run it at full parameters, not saying this is true for everyone, but look at the PC you have no, in 3-4 years do you honestly think you will be able to play the same games I’ll be able to play on my 360?
WTF are you talking about? You DO know the 360's resolution is at 720p and PCs can go to 1080I and beyond?
You DO know that PC's can support higher texture, quality shaders, shadows and resolutions? I can't even comprehend what the hell are you trying to argue.
What the f is "not that pc can't, but crash and wont run on full parameters"? I run games at 1080i which is essentially 1920 x 1080 with 8-16xAA depending on game, 16AF and consoles are stuck with what evers optimized for them which is essentially no AA and 720p which is 1280 x 720.
And your xbox can run games that are coming out in 5 years time? You are a clueless naive child, your xbox is already outdated so what exactly makes you think you can run games 5 years down the road?
To answer your question, Yes, my pc can run games better than your console, hell the highest frames per second i got for MW2 was over 200 frames per second, your console probably runs it at far less not even exceeding 60.
Oh and heres proof PC's are more powerful than consoles(seeing your too naive to accept that fact, heres some video proof)
^ Far cry 2 pc vs xbox, notice how your precious console's framerates dramatically drop when there is alot of action going on while the pc, with an outdated graphics card(8800GTS) and hardware still runs the gamne silky smooth?
FANBOY!
Really, 4GB 667 DDR2 ram, 1TB Hard disk, Radeon 5870....
Your console wouldn't even be able to run crysis at all let alone play it at an extremely smooth framerate.
wikkedjoker wrote...
Short answer, No. Why because your PC by than will be outdated, and in need of upgrades in order to run the newer games that the 360 will run just fine, even PC‘s that are built for gaming fall to this.
Right because modern PC's with already superior hardware right now will be more outdated that an already outdated xbox right now let alone 5 years later.
What wonderful logic son, your xbox is already outdated.
Your xbox is running on 3 cores and most pc gamers with high end machines are running quad cores which is essentially 4 cores, hell INTEL is even developing 6 core CPU's as we speak!
wikkedjoker wrote... So if PC gaming is not dead than it is taking a back seat to console gaming, and is dwindling into obscurely, becoming more of a casual gaming platform, like the Wii.
Sure you have your WOW, and sims like games, but that is what is keeping it alive. Every Blue moon you have something like Dragon Age, or Masseffect, But your Halo’s and your Gears of War, even tough previous incarnations made it to the PC, the current ones have no plan to move.
Right, yet its funny how big companies like ATI and NVIDIA are spending millions of dollars developing top of the line graphic cards every few months for hardcore PC gamers...
You have no idea on what you are talking about.
wikkedjoker wrote... Now could I see the Console becoming like a game playing net book. Well look at the 360, twitter, face book, last FM, its only the beginning.
More wishful thinking from a fanboy in denial.
wikkedjoker wrote... The Point is the console is in no way inferior to the PC. Now, are the companies that decide what programming can and can not happen on the consoles incompetent, yes much so.
No way inferior? Hardware? You do realize PC's can be upgraded with the latest more powerful hardware while your console is stuck with what ever has been built in it which is years old and outdated?
wikkedjoker wrote... Games like Dragon Age should be allowed to use mod content, that has less to do with the 360 and more to do with Microsoft not wanting the console exploited.
What BS, you CANT mod on the 360 you little child.
And before you all scream fan boy, I play PC games, and that’s why I feel I can say what I’m saying.
wikkedjoker wrote... EDIT: The sims may have sould over a 100 mill coppied, but look at say Halo, hell thats all I need to say.
but look at the PC you have no, in 3-4 years do you honestly think you will be able to play the same games I’ll be able to play on my 360?
Short answer, No.
very offtopic, but, you live behind the moon? The graphics of your four year old 360 look dated right now, compared to the PC, and in "3-4" years your 360 will be replaced be a new console, if anything. If you prefer consoles, that's very fine with me, but please, don't pretend anything looks better there right now, because it doesn't. DA does not, ME2 does not.
Feraele wrote... They HAVE to work with Sony and Microsoft for the certifications.....so there must be some sort of contractual agreements in place for that to happen. Right?
What I mean are simultaneous release deals. They can't have one with Sony, because the poor PS3 crowd has been getting the shaft since the game has been released. If they have one with Microsoft, Microsoft already breached it by releasing the content too early. And in any case, all they have to do is to actually tell us. "We have a simultaneous release contract with Microsoft, we are too scaredy to actually tell them "you breached the contract first, now GTFO", so if you PC gamers have to wait more, it's due to their bribe money, sorry" Of course I'm sure they could come up with a nicer way to say that, I just paraphrased.
No false claims, just high expectations, alot of flack, some bugs that came up at the last minute, dealing with MS and Sony certifications...whoop another bug.
Things happen /shrug....if you wish to deny yourself ME2 thats..your prerogative.

Agreed. ME 2 will be bought, however I expect gamebreaking glitches and obvious DLC technical "issues" so i'm pissed off when it happens.
Cool face eh? Really makes you feel better about delayed DLC constantly.

And.."I" was speculating about the multi-release thing...as an EXAMPLE.
This morning a title update on the Xbox 360 for Dragon Age: Origins was made available in preparation for the release of Return to Ostagar. This title update introduced a previously undetected issue that causes specialization classes to not work correctly in Dragon Age: Origins. We are removing Return to Ostagar from Xbox Live until the issue is resolved and are recommending that you do not download the title update. If you have already performed the update, we apologize for this and are working hard to ensure a fix is available as soon as possible.
We will provide more information to you when it is available.
Sad to hear another delay, but it's good that you guys at Bioware try to release a bugfree dlc. I appreciate that
Wikkedjoker just got owned hard. Funny that with his level of intelligence and blatant stupidity he still has the cheek to claim he has a wife, i can't see any women dumb enough to marry someone as unintelligent as this little retard.

Actually Chris did say it would be made available for PC yesterday, and we've received no word on it since. I won't go so far out to call that lying but still at any rate even with the 360 title update snafu, there's no reason, or at the very least a logical reason given, why they need to sit on the PC version of the DLC. Man up and release it already and I think the majority here who are prolly playing the PC version to begin with will finally be content.
Myself I'm not upset, these things do happen, with that being said though I honestly don't think this whole situation has been handled very well at all.

Maybe it's a good idea to keep the thread civil, That way we might hope to get some information when the Bioware Folks are doing shaving, instead of just seeing the thread closed

I have no problems with being civil with people, its just incredibly difficult to be civil with bigots that dont know what they are talking about and act like they do.
