hmmm....i was thinking that with this incident they may not be able to
say much. if microsoft did indeed make a mistake by releasing the
content early, bioware/ea may get themselves into some legalities by
publicly accusing microsoft. i think the events are relatively clear.
microsoft in some way released too early, maybe from the date showing
as 1/14/09 or some other mistake. then bioware scrambles to try and
make up for the error, but in the end they just could not. it stinks. i
don't disagree. however, what can they say in this instance if it is
indeed microsoft's fault other than what chris said yesterday about
xbox 360 being unexpectedly available. they removed it due to a game
breaking feature. could this be the feature from the beginning? if so,
it makes sense why they held back. numerous 360 gamers lost their
specializations they unlocked and had not used. that is pretty bad to
me. i understand that this is about the third time a delay has
happened, but what can you do?

It depends. If the PC version of the DLC is free of the bug, then releasing that one would be a good way to begin. If it's not, then actually telling us would be another good way to begin.

I just hope BioWare realizes that this complete and utter epic fail with Return to Ostagar is not exactly doing wonders for their reputation with regards to DLC. They promised massive expansions for the first Mass Effect, and then found out that they'd made a game that didn't really support it. Then comes DA:O which has seen one DLC release at launch and then nothing but drama after that.

You guys really need to sort out your internal procedures, and communicate better. And please - please, please, PLEASE - stop delaying DLC on all platforms because you get a bug on one. I don't care which platform it is, but if it's ready, put it up, please.

QFT  couldn't agree more.

It's really sad that possibly one of the best true RPG's to come in a long time is having this much trouble, this game is/was great...the story, everything was good.  But now I'm mad at myself for wondering for the last few weeks when i could play this, and for spending the last two day nonstop on the forums trying to find out any information.  In some sports you get three strikes and your out.  Oh well I guess i'll just go and watch them dig out bodies in Haiti, and maybe sometime it a couple of weeks between the earthquake coverage and the USA healthcare coverage (oh wait, that's being done behind closed doorsPosted Image) CNN will have something on their ticker about the DA:O RTO being released and maybe even working! Posted Image

CNN announces DA:O dlc releases?  Wow...who da thunk it. :D

Sorry not really, but my chance of finding out any true info on CNN is about as good there as here or anywhere,  maybe they are working on the memory leak problem, oops, the slow load PC problem, or where i can find about 5 or 6 more nugs.

Welp seems to me that the problems seem to stem from adding those achievements and titles in at the last minute......back when there was a large thread demanding this, that and the other thing.

From there..of course things have to be run through Microsoft certifications and Sony's.   All the ducks have to be in a row for ...the release to happen.

I think some of this is a tiny bit our fault too *laughs*

So maybe they'll have things set up next dlc in a better frame, know when to announce or not announce,  specially if last minute things are added due to fans insisting that they must be..for the game to be worth anything to them.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.   Yes indeedy. :)

Since my specs are locked again thanks to title update yesterday,Will I be able to unlock them again by talking to my compainons.Or do I  have to wait for the fix.

I have tried "re-unlocking" a couple specializations (Shapeshifter, Templar, Assasin, Bard) and since I have already had them unlocked before, the conversation options needed to unlock the specializations do not show up. So I guess the answer (for now, at least) is no, in my experience.

I wish I was complaining about missing out on the small window for downloading the DLC instead of complaining about a bugged game which may or may not be fixed.

Thanks for the info.

They told us late last night, that Microsoft had released the Xbox one without them knowing about it, and that the one released by Microsoft was a bad one. They have pulled that one now also.
They are working on trying to get it fixed.

MS can only release whats on their servers and what was checked already. Beside this there is a scheduled release setup for weeks.

From the looks of it, it seems Bioware needs to get busy on two fronts. A. Keep the promise to PS3 and PC users about getting the DLC out and actually putting substantial evidence of WHY it has not come out yet. And B. Put forward an estimated time on when the Xbox360 update fix will take place. Everyone will be MUCH happier if this occurs, guaranteed =)

I usually defend Bioware quite a bit as I love their games but this post is so spot on its not even funny. They flat out dropped the ball on this one as much as I hate to say it. The DLC is done, people have already played it and completed it with no issues. The title update itself to fix a 360 achievement issue for that particular sku is what screwed things up, NOT THE DLC. This title update does not apply to the PC version of DAO,

Sitting on the PC side of things, not to mention being absolutely silent on the matter while making posts to other topics on the forum is pretty much somewhat of a slap in the face to the community imo. I don't think asking for at least some explination as to why those of us waiting for the PC version are still being made to wait is so unreasonable.

Excatly, get the job done right, not quick.

If you get it done quick, the whiners get a buggy game which will just make them complain some more.

I would say that, for the moment, they had quite a lot of time to do the job "right".

Agreed, it has been a while. But call me a fan boy – if they worked hard on building the main game for us, surely people can handle waiting for a DLC. I mean, BioWare isn’t a sweatshop; we can’t whip them till it’s done.

I downloaded RtO during the time it was available yesterday, played through it. Noticed my specializations got re-locked.

So should I delete RtO and just wait for it to be rereleased or should I wait for a patch to fix this? And if I delete it, will I get the "Download Again" when RtO gets released again?

Anyone? Anyone?

Would it be okay if I just do that clear cache thing on my 360?

Do you actually think that most folks here would be interested in "substantial evidence" and ..who do you think would have time to sit down and write this book..to satisfy our curiosity? ^^

Thanks for the update....now a question:

Forgive me if this has already been answered, I tried reading a number of posts, but in all honesty I'm not going to read through 29 pages. I downloaded RtO yesterday for the XBOX360, after backing up my save file on a memory unit, and completed the DLC. After completing it, none of my specializations locked (I guess I just got really lucky). I see that it has since been removed from the Marketplace. Should I be deleting the content from my HDD? Or when a patch is released, will the installation of said patch fix the issue with specializations? I realize I haven't experienced the bug yet, but considering I have multiple characters that I planned on playing RtO with, I'm sure it's bound to happen eventually. Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: It looks like somebody has asked my question, judging from the post that snuck in just before mine.  Sorry for the duplicate.

Yes indeed, most of us learn from are mistakes, so maybe the DA Awakening Expansion will go much better,  I wish them support and luck, cause it is a very good game.  I know somewhat what they are going through after being a Computer systems operator/production control specialist in the Air Force about 15 years ago.

oh, and my new favorite quote:

Fernando Melo wrote...

Please keep in mind there are lots of things working in parallel - some people are on Awakening, some on RtO, some of patch, some on ... other things, etc.  A bump in one doesn't mean it derails the others

the patch's "bumps" apparently did derail our adoption of ostagar

(and before the mighty flames rise up to consume me: yeah yeah yeah, I know these are different uses of bump)

There are some here that think ..that Bioware employees, don't eat, sleep, spend time with their families over the holidays..so the sweatshop/whip thing might also be something in the forefront of their thinking as well.  :D

Couldn't agree more. Over communication is by far better than under communication. Every working environment should know that not providing information to those concerned (and in this case actual customers) is a guaranteed way to cause angst.

All Bioware needs to do is take there time and release it when it is ready.  I am anxious for more content as well, but just let them make it right before it is released.  They do not need to provide us with evidence of anything.

ME2 pre-order cancelled. I'll wait a year and buy it used. That should give you guys at BioWare time to fix the game, ******* break it, and then fix it again.
Seriously, it was a slow drain, but all confidence I have in this company is gone. It's one thing to be inept and stupid, but it's another to make constant false claims to your customers. It doesn't sit well with me at all.

It's the same company, but 2 different teams, as are there completely different teams for DA:O, RtO and Awakening. Comparing apples to oranges here. Nice way to lie to yourself tho
