From the looks of it, it seems Bioware needs to get busy on two fronts. A. Keep the promise to PS3 and PC users about getting the DLC out and actually putting substantial evidence of WHY it has not come out yet. And B. Put forward an estimated time on when the Xbox360 update fix will take place. Everyone will be MUCH happier if this occurs, guaranteed =)

Do you actually think that most folks here would be interested in "substantial evidence" and ..who do you think would have time to sit down and write this book..to satisfy our curiosity? ^^

What more substantial evidence do you need? The title update borked the 360 version not the dlc. Chris said as much, also said the PC version would be release yesterday, (still waiting) and we've heard nothing since. We don't need a book, just to know weather it's worth sitting around waiting to see if the PC version will be out today or not.

I downloaded RtO during the time it was available yesterday, played through it. Noticed my specializations got re-locked.

So should I delete RtO and just wait for it to be rereleased or should I wait for a patch to fix this? And if I delete it, will I get the "Download Again" when RtO gets released again?

Anyone? Anyone?

Would it be okay if I just do that clear cache thing on my 360?

That would remove the title update and should fix the specialization issue yes.

Alright, I guess I'll go with that. The only thing that'll happen as a result of that is that I'll have to download updates and what not for any other games i play, right?

And thank you for the answer.

The DLC is done, people have already played it and completed it with no issues. The title update itself to fix a 360 achievement issue for that particular sku is what screwed things up, NOT THE DLC. This title update does not apply to the PC version of DAO,

Sitting on the PC side of things, not to mention being absolutely silent on the matter while making posts to other topics on the forum is pretty much somewhat of a slap in the face to the community imo. I don't think asking for at least some explination as to why those of us waiting for the PC version are still being made to wait is so unreasonable.

The cute white haired dwarf speaks words of wisdom. :wizard:

Well i agree to this also somewhat.I mean it was said when it was out for the xbox360 yesterday before the bug issue that the console users where having their lucky day(which turned out otherwise) but let PC users have their shot XD How about an unexpected PC release XDPosted Image

+1

Excatly, get the job done right, not quick.

If you get it done quick, the whiners get a buggy game which will just make them complain some more.

No one forced them to say the PC version would be available yesterday.  They chose to announce that themselves, then blew it *again*.

hmmm....i was thinking that with this incident they may not be able to
say much. if microsoft did indeed make a mistake by releasing the
content early, bioware/ea may get themselves into some legalities by
publicly accusing microsoft. i think the events are relatively clear.
microsoft in some way released too early, maybe from the date showing
as 1/14/09 or some other mistake. then bioware scrambles to try and
make up for the error, but in the end they just could not. it stinks. i
don't disagree. however, what can they say in this instance if it is
indeed microsoft's fault other than what chris said yesterday about
xbox 360 being unexpectedly available. they removed it due to a game
breaking feature. could this be the feature from the beginning? if so,
it makes sense why they held back. numerous 360 gamers lost their
specializations they unlocked and had not used. that is pretty bad to
me. i understand that this is about the third time a delay has
happened, but what can you do?

It depends. If the PC version of the DLC is free of the bug, then releasing that one would be a good way to begin. If it's not, then actually telling us would be another good way to begin.

true. but what kind of politics are involved with multi-platform dlc releases? are microsoft and sony hounding bioware/ea about unfair treatment? i mean no offense to the ps3 players out there, but maybe bioware decided to release pc and xbox at the same time to assuage microsoft since they have about 3-4 times the number of da copies sold than ps3, so maybe bioware is not concerned as much about the delay on ps3 since ps3 takes longer to certify and doesn't have the volume of sales xbox has. this is all speculation on my part, but the business world does have a good amount of politics that goes on between companies that the public never knows about.

It's the same company, but 2 different teams, as are there completely different teams for DA:O, RtO and Awakening. Comparing apples to oranges here. Nice way to lie to yourself tho

Huh? My ME2 preorder is cancelled, believe me. Gamestop CE version too, which had sold out, meaning someone else will get it now (you're welcome, I guess). My compaint here isn't over delays. I'm pretty patient, actually. My complaints are over the amateur-ish bungling in which they are selling and releasing this DLC.

So I'm plenty patient enough to wait and see how ME2 actually turns out before I buy it. I know "It's a different team". But it IS the same company, following the same practices in customer service, and THAT is all I need to know to cancel my order.

Too bad I can't cancel "BioWare Points", too.

Personally I wouldn't sit around waiting...to see whether its out today or not.

If it is out..the announcement will come.  If its not..it won't.

Now that I have been entertained by the responses in this  thread I am off to watch more Farscape, might be back in a few days.

Nothing to break a sweat over really...for us the consumer.

Feel sorry for Bioware however.....just proves you can't please everyone..no matter how hard you try.

Seriously, it was a slow drain, but all confidence I have in this company is gone. It's one thing to be inept and stupid, but it's another to make constant false claims to your customers. It doesn't sit well with me at all.

I only bought ME1 Last week. Discounted massively on steam so i got it for $5 Hooray! I intend to do the same for ME2. Think it makes more sense than going along with the roller coaster ride of "2 years of DLC"

Honestly I can't care the least about the "politics". They dropped the ball. Hard. That's when one starts caring about "politics" less, and about servicing their customers more.
Moreover, assuaging Microsoft when they actually are the ones that screwed up majorly by releasing the DLC ahead of time? That's be quite the irony.
If i have to be completely blunt, it's about time to see software developers man up and tell Microsoft to GTFO.

This isn't poor customer service. They've updated us as best they could. The PC version is being worked on and all versions have a bug which they are fixing. No company ever gives specifics about problems until they're done fixing it. Keep in mind that microsoft controls both the PC and xbox 360 versions, and as such Bioware is subject to -their- decisions. If you want to throw a fit and refuse to buy Bioware games, that's your loss. But don't accuse a company of handling this poorly when there's no evidence of that.

It was just a big game of miscommunication. It happens with MMO's also. Commonplace if you are a PC gamer. At any rate, we'll just sit back, play our other games and wait for this "virus" fix to come out and be killing darkspawn in the morning.

Because freeroaming games like Fallout survive on sidequests. If you ignore them and charge through the main plot you end up with a hollow 2-4 hour gaming experience.
DA:O on the other hand is driven forward by it's main plot.

Not really.

The PC version is being worked on

Last thing they said about the PC version is "It's coming out later today", yesterday. After that, complete silence.

and all versions have a bug which they are fixing.

Again, not really. Last thing they said is that the bug is xbox 360 specific.

No company ever gives specifics about problems until they're done fixing it. Keep in mind that microsoft controls both the PC and xbox 360 versions, and as such Bioware is subject to -their- decisions. Microsoft has absolutely ZERO control over the PC version. The fact that they publish ONE of the PC operating systems doesn't give them any control whatsoever over games for PC that aren't part of the "Games for Windows" platform. DA:O is NOT part of the "Games for Windows" platform. Microsoft has nothing to do with the PC version of the game. Thankfully, I'd add, given how poorly Games for Windows has worked with other games, completely choking the modding scene (Dawn of War 2 is a good example).
Maker forbid Microsoft managing to plague the PC gaming market as well...

Get your facts straight.

I disagree with that last statement and have already written lawyerly paragraphs as to how BioWare has been unethical in selling and marketing this particular piece of DLC. If you can't see the disrespect to customers, good for you.

I wonder how much BioWare made yesterday when they announced this DLC was ready for PC. Just a few dollars, right? <_<

Well, I'm done complaining, and I only complained because I did really like BioWare. Now they're just like any other to me. Which saddens me. It does.

I'm just wondering how it's possible that microsoft (Microsucks) manages to get all titles that come out either for xbox alone or have a port to xbox too? In my opinion a PC is still the best gaming platform because a PC is more versatile then an xbox and you can still run new games on sum older machines. When it comes to xbox, since they made the 360 variant no more games are made for the old xbox, every1 that has an xbox was forced to buy the new xbox 360 to keep up with the games. With a PC, you can enjoy games longer before needing to either upgrade or buy a complete new system then with game consoles.

If bioware was smart, they'd only made DAO for the PC, problem solved when it comes to bugs on 1 platform and maybe no bugs on another in which case many players would have been able to enjoy RTO already buy now instead of having to wait because the xbox is unable to play it normaly and the rest just has to wait for it.

I sincerely hope that gamedevelopers will ignore xbox for a change and stick to the PC only so a larger public can enjoy games. In our country almost every household has a PC by now but only half has an xbox or ps3 or whatever. They'd reach a greater public with PC only here.

Refreshing, that now console users are doing the beta-testing. SCNR

It's probable, that if there is a bug in the X360 Version, it's also in the PC version. Usually I'm 110% positive about Bioware, but this little bit chaotic action around the "unexpected" release surprised me as being generally convinced of the top quality of Bioware's production. So, I'm gladly looking forward to getting my hands on RtO soon.

P.S.: ENCHANTMENT!!! (perhaps that helps?) :wizard:

First off, EA is the publisher not MS. Sure the game runs on Windows but MS doesn't "control" every game released on PC. Secondly the bug affects the 360 version via a title update that has nothing to do with either the PS3 or PC skus of the game. (god I feel like a broken record)

The only reason anyone is at all up in arms looking for some clarification is due to being told it would be available for pc yesterday and hearing nothing since about the status of the PC build. It takes all of 5 mins to write a post to remedy the situation.
