You can play. The way to do that has been explained over and over again in this thread.

On the other hand, unless contrary news are given, the PC version is free of bugs and ready to go. As such, it's release should be prioritized, given that the last news we received on it is "it's coming out later today". yesterday.

I don't see a single reason why the Xbox 360 version should hold back the PC one, unless the bug is across all platform, in which case, they should just say so.

And that, my friend, is exactly what we're sick and tired of.

Understandable, and I'm not questioning that. I was merely answering the guy's question.

What more substantial evidence do you need? The title update borked the 360 version not the dlc. Chris said as much, also said the PC version would be release yesterday, (still waiting) and we've heard nothing since. We don't need a book, just to know weather it's worth sitting around waiting to see if the PC version will be out today or not.

I suspect BW has bigger concerns on their hands than putting out a DLC. Like fixing the fact that every 360 player who got the update yesterday (not just the ones who tried to get the DLC) had their game severely screwed up. Maybe you should just be happy you can still play DAO and not worry about a minor thing like DLC being delayed...

Thank you.  It's nice to see someone taking an understanding look at the people who actually got messed with in this whole issue.

Too bad it's false. The bug on the 360 can be worked around by clearing the cache.

And there I was worrying about RtO's early release and whether it was the fixed version or not.. and it was the UPDATE that broke everything :(

Severely borked up? I thought it was just the specialisation thing. It's pretty irritating, sure... but I don't see why it means I can't play. I've played RtO through a few times already.

I'm probably missing something, here....

I was just wondering... Which version is better for DAO: PC or 360? I bought the PC version cause X-Play said it was better, but why does it seem 360 gets games/content faster than other platforms? *Looks at my 360 w/ disgust*

360 wasn't supposed to come out early. It came out early because a MS employee accidentally entered the release date as "january 14, 2009." Oh yeah, and the patch that was also released yesterday had a major bug that relocked all previously unlocked specializations AND made it so shutting down the game relocks any specs you unlocked a second time.

So before you start grouching about "oh my, I have to wait for DLC," be glad you can even play. 360 players cannot.

Not grouching, was just a simple question. I understand what u 360 user are going through. I've had games that I wanted to play but couldn't either w/ my 360. But my prob. was getting the infamous red ring of death. I'm already on my 5th system.

It doesn't mean you can't play, but it kinda ruins the fun a bit when you can't upgrade your character's specializations without having to unlock them again without turning your console off...

Hello, my name is akeso and I'm a PC and I really don't give a crap about xbox's.

Why is my DLC still sitting in the freezer while we fix another systems woes?

Oh, can I not upgrade them, either? I've been playing with high level parties, so levelling up hasn't really been an issue.

But if almost every1 has a PC and every1 buys a PC version, wouldn't that reach the same amount of sales if the half who have the xbox only buy the xbox version and the other half buys the PC version? If both halfs bought the PC version, you have the same amount sold.

^^^^^
This.

But anyway, not everyone has a good enough PC to run Dragon Age. I know many people who like console gaming because they don't have to worry about system upgrades. Many people only have a computer for work and email and other things that do not require a machine that is powerful enough to run a game like this.

Even those that do have computers that can run DA, not everyone is going to be able to run it with max graphics. Another thing that console owners don't have to worry about. Now I also feel that PCs are better for gaming because of the range of games you can play on it, and the ability to use player created mods and whatnot that can be very fun.

But in no way in any conceivable way would it make more sense for Bioware to limit how many people can play their games. There is a cost involved to tweak the game slightly for different hardware (another reason why even if they DID just release for PC there would be bugs - so many different machines with different hardware) but the increased customer base more than makes up for that cost.

You're assuming there's nothing wrong with the PC version. Given the lack of information at this point, I wouldn't just jump to the conclusion that the PC version is ready to go.

In other words, "who cares about those stupid 360 players! The only ones who matter are the PC players. We want everything NOW!"

Besides, I have yet to see an answer if clearing the cashe actually works after you have started the game. Or if unlocked specs come back after doing so. So no, I have not seen a solution in this thread. All I've seen is "this might work."
On the other hand, unless contrary news are given, the PC version is free of bugs and ready to go. As such, it's release should be prioritized, given that the last news we received on it is "it's coming out later today". yesterday.
Did it occur to you that BW might be more concerned with fixing the games for people who cannot play, rather than catering to those who are just impatient?
I don't see a single reason why the Xbox 360 version should hold back the PC one, unless the bug is across all platform, in which case, they should just say so.
Which is possible, as it does not seem that the XBL server reset that was thought to have caused the problem actually fixed it. (If that was the issue, it would have fixed itself once all XBL servers were refreshed with the correct patch today. That did not happen.) Given the initial idea what what happened seems to be wrong, wouldn't you prefer BW figure out what happened, rather than just say "It's an XBL problem" and sending a bug to everyone?

Clearing the Cache may work if you have not played the game sense installing the title patch or RtO, I tried clearing the cache after playing through it on two save games and now those to saved games are currupt, and the only save games that will load for me now are the ones I had not played, but the specs are still locked out on them.

This may not be the case for everyone just what happened to my system when I tried.

Sorry, I worded it badly.  You can add new abilities etc fine if a character has already used a specialization point to purchase the class.  I was merely saying that it sucks if you're about to start a new playthrough (like me) and you know you'll have to plan the whole game around unlocking the talents...

Then it only takes actually telling us :D

Given that the last piece of information about the PC version is "will be out later today", yesterday, and the ONLY information we have about the bug is that it's related to the xbox 360, we're led to believe that the PC version is held in the freezer because the 360 version is being prioritized.
Which is disappointing to say the least.

Why so much hatred from PC users against Console users? I don't get it. Its not that console users don't have PC's and vice versa. Coming from someone who uses both, I am neutral, just like Switzerland. But I do sense a bit of PC user elitism.

It appears to me that a great deal of anger centers around the idea that some gamers have "paid" for their points already.  As a rule, I do not purchase "points" or pre-order anything without a very compelling reason.  Perhaps I am fortunate, but whether a game is popular or obscure I have always been able to purchase a copy on the release date.   Furthermore I am loathe to essentially extend a line of credit to a company on the promise that at some date (subject to change no less) they will provide a product, the prodcut itself often being more or less of an unknown.

Perhaps it is unwise to buy points/pre-order (especially if a gimmick item is not included)?  This is my opinion of course, and I would be interested in reading the rationale of paying for an item that does not yet exist for no tangible beneift.  This excludes anyone unfortunate enough to "see" the DLC as downloadable and then have it yanked out from under them of course.  Although it is certainly likely that someone will always find something to complain about, if the gamer were to exercise better discretion with their funds then maybe that would quell some of the righteous indignation.

On another note, I get the point of "complaining does nothing" but that isn't 100% true.  Bioware is a business and many of us (if not all) are their customers.  They have no binding obligation to provide us with content, but it is in their best interest to meet their target date AND keep us informed about any set-backs.  It is very likely that this delay is more troubling to the developers than to the fans (it is the way they pay the bills after all) and even plausible that their hands are tied due too nefarious corporate machinations, but it really is of no consequence.  Whether some of you feel that frustrated gamers are "children, etc" or not does not change the company/customer relationship.  Multiple product delays and stone-walling your fan-base (whether they are sensible, rational adults or mouth-breathing imbeciles escaped from the local asylum) is not a smart PR move.  Angering your base, whether they have a "right" to be angry or not, will surely get at least some people to voice their opinions about your company with their wallets or, worse yet, turn off new consumers with bad word-of-mouth publicity.  Another issue is people drifting away and simply "forgetting" about a product even if they might still be interested in it if they were aware it was out.

I would probably buy the DLC at any point in next year were it to come out.  It is only $5 and while I don't try to waste my money, the quality of DA:O and even Solider's Peak leads me to believe it will be worth it...prove me wrong and of course I may reconsider.  The problem is delays and poor communications like what has been witnessed in this debacle are prime examples of why I do not pre-order/buy points before a game/content is released.  I would rather the money earn interest in my account and not some company's to begin with so eroding customer trust (and by this I mean if I pre-pay for a product it will be delivered as advertised) isn't going to get me or many others to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt. This incident will be remembered, and as is human nature, embellished upon its retelling.

Good points. And you are correct. One big issue as I see it is how rude the users are on these forums to each other. I feel this is the single largest irritant to deal with when I come to these forums to find out information. To generalize, if I may, I really think that if most of the rudest folks on these forums were face to face, we would be seeing a completely different coversation. Social networking is a double edged sword. It is a great way to gain information quickly. But it is easy to become completely uninhibited when you are behind a keyboard and there is zero accountability for your actions or your replies (barring a ban that is).
