Sorry folks. Until we get the information straight for all versions, I am not going to piece-meal out bits and bots. I know you are all waiting on updates for all 3 platforms and when I can confirm things for you, I will.

It seems to infuriate some of you that I post here without giving you details, and I am sorry for that too. I want you to know that we have not forgotten about you or these issues. We are working on things and will update you as soon as we have details. While it is not yet enough information, I believe it is better to know we are still listening and working  rather than being ignored and left in the dark.

The vast majority of rational posters don't mind, man.  In this day and age, we have become an impatient "I want it now!" lot.  It's just a game, after all.  It isn't like the people who are "furious" can't find other things to do with their lives.  ^_^

To be honest Chris, this is exactly the "non answer" answer that's going to inflame the community further, with reason.

I hope you're aware of the fact that you could have posted in and said "good morning". It would have given us exactly the same amount of information.

You cannot in all honesty think we believe that you guys  have no idea if the bug extends to other versions of the game, and if the PC version is ready for release or not.
As a long time customer and a fan, i can only say this kind of attitude disappoints me even more.

And please, pretty please, as a personal favor, stop with the little devil smiley, if any, it makes us feel mocked.

Perhaps this is where 99% of the problem lies.

I'm pretty sure there's a saying involving donkeys and elbows or something.

Actually its 100% where the problem lies. They were all ready to push out the PC version after MS jumped the gun, now its a vague non informative stance. Something doesn't compute here sorry to say.

Is the PC version bugged as well? Or is it being held back to sate 360 users and/or MS? Or is it one of those "the powers that be won't allow me to say one way or another" type of deals hense the non informative response. I'm guessing its the latter.

One thing I'd love an answer to, though.

Why in the name of Wynne's magical bosom is the title update still on Live?
Shouldn't it be taken down until it's fixed? Leaving it up is just breaking more and more people's copies as time goes on.

Probably because of how Xbox Live works. Once developers send Microsoft the files for the updates, they're pretty much out of their hands. So even if Bioware wanted the update pulled, they would have to wait for a Microsoft server monkey to actually do the deed.

Thank you. Honestly. That is a much, MUCH better response. Now was that so hard ?

We're starting to get near. This one sounds more like an human being. There's still a lot of room for improvement, I'd say.

Why is my DLC still sitting in the freezer while we fix another systems woes?

Not to be a ****** by pointing you out specifically, you just happened to be the latest post of this type that I saw. BUT...

For anyone making comments like this.. really? What if you were one of the 360 or PS3 owners hmm? Say you had this nice, shiney gray box sitting by your t.v. instead of a computer on a desk (or whatever the set-up is). What if you were on the other end of that type of statement?

I am not trying to flame anyone, or call anyone or their comments out in any way, but look at it realistically. From a business and professional standpoint it is not "fair" to release content to one platform and not others. Fair being a bad term to use but there you have it. How many of the posters in this forum are actually NOT going to purchase the content because it was "late"? Nothing is ever late in the gaming industry to be honest. Things go wrong. Period. Bioware would upset a LOT more people if they released the content to one platform and not the others. When favoritism is shown towards one, the company has to deal with all the other users being pi**ed about being shunned.

Because you would be just as annoyed if XBox DLC was delayed because of what was precieved to be a PC only problem.
From a business perspective it makes absolute sense to get a product out there on at least one platform, this is why you've seen phased releases across platforms over the last 5 or 6 years become more and more common.
If it was PC problem I would understand the XBOX content going live while they fixed the PC problem mind you.

At the end of the day though, I don't care if RTO on xbox fills your house with kitty cats just so long as the PC one works.

The calvary arrives for our poor mod ;)

Exactly, you don't care about what happens to the Xbox version of the game, but Bioware does. And frankly, it doesn't make sense to push out the PC version if they're still struggling over the Xbox issue. The PC version is in the best working order of all three releases at the moment. Common sense says to get the Xbox working before rolling out a release that could potentially need even more work for the PC and PS3. Worst case scenario, they push out the PC version to satiate the forum and someone finds a game breaking bug in it (it would be pretty much par for the course at this point...hell the Xbox and PS3 versions haven't even been patched for a number of problems that the PC has already). My guess is you won't go: well, now my game is broken, but at least they released RtO! No, you'll be here demanding that they fix it while they already have their hands full with the Xbox situation.

Soo.... you're logic is that there are bugs memory bugs on the xbox and this may mean bugs on the PC version?
Whether or not this is or is not the case, you don't really have any knowledge of debugging or platform programming do you?
While it may make sense to you to hold all of your product line until everything works, you're in the minority both on these forums and in the professional world.   Simply put, the common theory is that if a product works you get it onto the market, especially if it will prove that your other products will work too.

No, I didn't say that an xbox specific problem means there will be a PC one, I said that the worst case scenario is that there is a problem with the PC release, which shouldn't be surprising, since there have been problems with every release to date (and this one, especially, multiple times over). Pushing out the PC release would mean, at the very least, diverting resources from a critical problem (a broken game) to a non-critical one (the release of a 30 minute DLC). You should slap whoever's been feeding you this garbage information about business plans, as well as whoever taught you reading comprehension and grammar.

So, they got Return to Ostagar pulled but not the update?  Sounds to me like a server monkey was doing the deed. Why didn't he pull the update as well if that's the case?

Again, it only takes communication and transparency.
Assuming they don't know if the PC version is ok:
"We're sorry, but at the moment we are no more sure, contrary to what announced yesterday, that the PC version of the DLC is free from the bug that plagued the Xbox version. We prefer to withold it's release until the proper tests are done. Such tests should be finished in a matter of X (insert a reasonable timeframe instead of X). We sincerely apologize for the delay and the lapse in the communication and we'll try to be more transparent in the future".

It ain't that hard, isn't it?

Except you were complaining above about the fact BW has delayed RTO several times already. I suspect if Chris came back 1 hour from now and said the PC and PS3 RTOs were on indefiniate hold, you would be complaining about that.

There is also the fact that actual bug already released trumps getting a new release out when it comes to priorities and manpower.

There should be different teams working on different versions. Also, I disagree that getting the PC release out should have less priority than fixing the 360 version.

360 games are BROKEN. All existing saves are GLITCHED AND CANNOT BE FIXED. That is far and away a larger problem than some (short) DLC being delayed.

Assuming the PC release is ok:
Fix the 360 version and release both at the same time -> ****** off the WHOLE community, because everyone gets to wait

Why don't you go play some DAO while you wait. At least you can...

This is pretty much what I've been hoping for, instead of more broad apologies for the delays, and apologies for posting without actually giving us any information.

All I've gotten out of CP's two posts, is an assurance that they ARE working on the problem, and that they haven't forgotten about us.  Super.

There's no reason why  they can't simply state if there's a problem with the other versions, and that they either have an approximate timeframe for when the issue might be resolved, or that they don't know yet.

I appreciate that delays happen, and I appreciate even more a company that is willing to release things "when they are done".  But neither of those things preclude Bioware from being able to be more transparent with us - especially when you consider that many people already spent money on DLC "points" they currently can't use.

I'm guessing this glitch isn't specialization-specific, as I should've got the party member achievement last night and the only reason I can think that it didn't unlock is that one of the 'complete set' of allies only joined my party on my previous playthrough...

Honestly, it could be any of the things you listed. More importantly, however, releasing the PC version at the moment would take resources that are more likely than not tied up in both the Xbox bug (and, arguably, a double-checking of the PC release). And the PC version was not all ready to launch yesterday, or it would have been. The fact that they were going to try to get it out 'later in the day' means there were still some things they had to take care of. It certainly wasn't just pushing a button.

There is a choice to be made between dealing with a critical issue or calming the rather vocal minority of this forum. At the moment they are choosing the former. If they keep struggling with it, maybe they'll decide that the latter is the right course of action. Clearly, however, that is not the case at the moment, or you'd have your DLC.

i know the higher ups are still working on the issues at hand, here is a suggestion, why not just put RtO on the Awakening Disc for all 3 versions of the game, it will save us all a hassle and it will give you guys more time to get all the bugs worked out, it is a win win in my opinion, who agrees with me on this?

Keep in mind the third date was not planned Bioware felt pushed by MS's premature switch flipping to try to get the PC version out yesterday, and obviously they ran into more issues. If anything the mess yesterday should show all of us there was a major quality issue and bugs in the DLC, and it was not Bioware just trying to stall for a all platform release on the same day.

not if you have had all party members (not needed in every play) they it should have
