I would suggest instead of complaining, just sit back and lurk until RtO comes out. Less stress for everybody.

This is beyond a joke now. If you were in an actual retail outlet, U'd demand to speak to the manager. All these lies, and they are lies, are beyond a joke. Where the hell is the DLC, that we've PAID FOR? C'mon, it's not as though there's anything else we can spend it on! We should DEMAND honesty and courtesy. Give us the damn download NOW

Yeah that's going to get you somewhere.

Seriously though...  delayed twice and halfway released/announced for PC, then recalled... c'mon, Bioware. :/

I think they've got their hands filled with the 360 port right now. Since, ya know, it broke the game and everything. I sympathize that your version is delayed, but at least you can still play what you've already paid for. Me, I have a shiny 60 dollar game and about 10 bucks of DLC that right now cannot be touched due to bug issues.

You misread what I said.

When I said "halfway released", that was aimed towards the 360. So, I was encompassing your platform's woes into the generalized statement. Believe me, if I were on that system with this game, I'd be pretty mad. But, I'm not.

I'm fully aware of what the DLC has done to the 360 game. The point of my comment is that with everything that has happened, there should be some sort of reparation or something.

Sorry. Didn't mean to lash out. I'm just super pissed about this. Delays are one thing. I don't mind them. I don't even mind little bugs throughout the game. I've never complained about problems like that, I just take them in stride. But this one's broken my game and thus I'm a little angry and not very good at directing it. *sigh*

Erm, sorry for not wanting to wade through the epic amounts of replies here, but what happens if we've already downloaded it and completed it (within an hour might I add)? I was wondering why my arcane warrior abilities were broken.

The spec locking problem is as follows: after patching and downloading the DLC, I ran through RTO with my level 22 rogue. Everything was fine, loved the mission, yada, yada, yada, I power down the console.

This morning I boot up the game to play with my level 11 rogue. I go to level up and I notice that all my specilizations have been locked. Strange, think I. So I try to re-learn a few. I get Al to teach templar training, Morrigan to teach shapeshifter, and think, I'm back in business. Maybe this is what BioWare wanted, for us to have learn the specs with each playthrough. Shut down the console again. Restart it, and everything I unlocked a few hours ago is locked again. And now, Al thinks he's taught me the templar spec, so there's no re-learning. Broken.

Thanks ...

And dang -- I'll have to check this out when I get home.   Can I ask another question:  had you already put a "point" in the specialization?  In other words, if I'm an Arcane Mage already, can I still put points in the Arcane Mage line?

Yes. My assassin can continue learning that chain. But I can't take another spec. And I can't spec any of my side characters either. So it's still pretty broken. Safe until you hit level 14, it looks like.

This is kinda silly. I can understand the annoyance of the delay, heck, I bought the points to get RtO two days before the supposed release date. I've also dealt with much worse customer service then these guys at Bioware are giving. These people are saints compared to some.

-cough- Blizzard -cough-

As impatient as I am, I'd much rather wait for a quality product then get something that messes my game up. Like this whole specialization bug that happened. And at least the mods talk to us, they really don't even have to do that. Even though it's not that hard to figure out the content still has obvious bugs to work out and more then likely won't be released until all versions are fixed and proper.

Thanks again -- you rule.  Guess I'm gonna work on my two just-at-Ostagar characters until I receive new orders from the Livemind.

At this point I could care less about RTO, I just want my specs back! I deleted the patch and they are still locked, so I am thinking something the patch did had lasting effects =(

we would but for two reasons we can't

1) I don't know about other people but I've been looking forward to getting this DLC to get the King's armor and seeing what you can get of Duncan's if you can.

and 2) It's not fun just waiting!

I know this is a stupid question as there really hasn't been any concrete response to the problem, but is the specialization issue something that is going to be/can be fixed? I have already played through RtO and at the point of the game I am at, I don't want to go any further not knowing what is going on with the bugs - not to mention I don't want to corrupt any saves if I already have not.

I am just wondering what you all think, because if this is likely to be something (specializations, specifically) that doesn't get worked out within the next few weeks I will just scrap this now and start a different game altogether rather than spending my time forum lurking waiting for some sort of "sign".

I am totally okay being patient while they try to fix it, I just want to know what the probability of an actual fix is.

Thanks :D

Truths^_^, they responded pretty fast to this issue, and id rather know that they're working on it than be told nothing untill they've fixed it.

I can't help but giggle seeing some xbox users that yesterday were all jeering and mocking the PC and PS3 users while downloading the DLC while we were waiting, and now scream that fixing their version should come before everything else. Looks like Microsoft's "Xbox before everyone else!" attitude has rubbed off on part of their userbase as well.

Hopefully Bioware is working on getting the PC version released as soon as possible. I would find extremely disappointing to learn that the fixing the xbox screwup is taking resources away from the release of the other versions of the game.
I remember Bioware claiming  quite confidently that the console versions would have never influenced the PC version of the game. It's time to stick to those words.

It seems clear that this kind of crapstorm is what BioWare wanted to avoid by delaying the Jan. 5 release date at the last minute. I can only speculate that the recent "unexpected" release was unintended on BioWare's part, but that by the time they were able to rein it in, the damage was already done.

I wonder what will happen with my game, since I already grabbed the DLC before it was pulled from the marketplace. Hopefully when the specializations are all fixed up again, and the marketplace gets Return to Ostagar once more, I'll still have the DLC on my marketplace profile.

It'd give me another reason to play Dragon Age again (even when I was planning to before the expansion hits stores anyways)

That shouldn't be a problem. RTO is no different than any other content downloaded from xbox live. Once it's registered on your account, you can redownload it.

Ok besides the locked specializations what is the other problems the patched caused to the game

That's pretty much it. The specs lock no matter what. Unlock them again, turn your console off, they are locked once more. Does there need to be anything else?

Thanks man..
So will clearing the system cache remove any of the DLCs i have

If you are on the the xbox then you have to go into the system then memory for that game then delete that piece of content from the hardrive.

and this will remove the update?

Hmm I dunno. The last time my brother wanted to get rid of an update for a game he had to put in a whole bunch of other games that required updates. The xbox's tiny brain can only store so many I think. You could try that. Providing you have enough old games that need them. Otherwise the cache thing might work, or try asking at your general xbox 360 forum for your country.

Not to be a ****** by pointing you out specifically, you just happened to be the latest post of this type that I saw. BUT...

For anyone making comments like this.. really? What if you were one of the 360 or PS3 owners hmm? Say you had this nice, shiney gray box sitting by your t.v. instead of a computer on a desk (or whatever the set-up is). What if you were on the other end of that type of statement?

I am not trying to flame anyone, or call anyone or their comments out in any way, but look at it realistically. From a business and professional standpoint it is not "fair" to release content to one platform and not others. Fair being a bad term to use but there you have it. How many of the posters in this forum are actually NOT going to purchase the content because it was "late"? Nothing is ever late in the gaming industry to be honest. Things go wrong. Period. Bioware would upset a LOT more people if they released the content to one platform and not the others. When favoritism is shown towards one, the company has to deal with all the other users being pi**ed about being shunned.

Because you would be just as annoyed if XBox DLC was delayed because of what was precieved to be a PC only problem.
From a business perspective it makes absolute sense to get a product out there on at least one platform, this is why you've seen phased releases across platforms over the last 5 or 6 years become more and more common.
If it was PC problem I would understand the XBOX content going live while they fixed the PC problem mind you.

At the end of the day though, I don't care if RTO on xbox fills your house with kitty cats just so long as the PC one works.

The calvary arrives for our poor mod ;)

Exactly, you don't care about what happens to the Xbox version of the game, but Bioware does. And frankly, it doesn't make sense to push out the PC version if they're still struggling over the Xbox issue. The PC version is in the best working order of all three releases at the moment. Common sense says to get the Xbox working before rolling out a release that could potentially need even more work for the PC and PS3. Worst case scenario, they push out the PC version to satiate the forum and someone finds a game breaking bug in it (it would be pretty much par for the course at this point...hell the Xbox and PS3 versions haven't even been patched for a number of problems that the PC has already). My guess is you won't go: well, now my game is broken, but at least they released RtO! No, you'll be here demanding that they fix it while they already have their hands full with the Xbox situation.

Soo.... you're logic is that there are bugs memory bugs on the xbox and this may mean bugs on the PC version?
Whether or not this is or is not the case, you don't really have any knowledge of debugging or platform programming do you?
While it may make sense to you to hold all of your product line until everything works, you're in the minority both on these forums and in the professional world.   Simply put, the common theory is that if a product works you get it onto the market, especially if it will prove that your other products will work too.

No, I didn't say that an xbox specific problem means there will be a PC one, I said that the worst case scenario is that there is a problem with the PC release, which shouldn't be surprising, since there have been problems with every release to date (and this one, especially, multiple times over). Pushing out the PC release would mean, at the very least, diverting resources from a critical problem (a broken game) to a non-critical one (the release of a 30 minute DLC). You should slap whoever's been feeding you this garbage information about business plans, as well as whoever taught you reading comprehension and grammar.

I'm aware of that; I'm simply questioning the
logic of even your worse case scenario.   You've made your case; it's that PC users should care what happens to the xbox players.   I don't.   Period.

Furthermore, whether or not you agree with it, relevant theory and common sense don't point toward your conclusions.

But once you've reduced yourself to pointing out the grammar problems in a forum post.... well, that speaks for its self.

Especially, and ironically, when it's coming from a WoT.

The Title Update has been removed by Microsoft. If anyone was worried about playing their copy of Dragon Age: Origins on their Xbox 360 whle this was present, you no longer need to worry.

We are still working on a fix the the issue introduced to those who did install the Title Update.

We are checking all versions of Return to Ostagar to ensure that there are no outstanding issues or the possibility of introducing new ones. Currently, we do not have an eta for the release of Return ot Ostagar on any platform.

When I have more details or information, I will let you know.

So, if I clear my cache, hence removing the Update, my specialisations will be back? I suppose the only way to find out will be to do a level up.

EDIT: Nope, they remain locked. However, I'm glad BioWare fixed the larger issue. Atleast no one else is going to have to suffer these problems :)
