Seems like Microsofts hand in Biowares pocket didn't pay off this time.

Ok besides the locked specializations what is the other problems the patched caused to the game

That's pretty much it. The specs lock no matter what. Unlock them again, turn your console off, they are locked once more. Does there need to be anything else?

Thanks man..
So will clearing the system cache remove any of the DLCs i have

If you are on the the xbox then you have to go into the system then memory for that game then delete that piece of content from the hardrive.

and this will remove the update?

Hmm I dunno. The last time my brother wanted to get rid of an update for a game he had to put in a whole bunch of other games that required updates. The xbox's tiny brain can only store so many I think. You could try that. Providing you have enough old games that need them. Otherwise the cache thing might work, or try asking at your general xbox 360 forum for your country.

cool thanks for the info

So, if I clear my cache, hence removing the Update, my specialisations will be back? I suppose the only way to find out will be to do a level up.

I tried this and it didn't work, as I said previously I think whatever damage the patch did is done and Bioware is going to release a patch to fix that damage.

Microsoft should check for mousetraps before they pick BioWare's pocket again.

I haven't run into the specialization bug yet, but my game save was in the fade (trying to be non-specific here so no spoilers) when the title update occurred and I noticed that going up stairs was sometimes causing me to jump back into the same room (weird!). But I did notice that smashing doors open was fixed.

It occurred to me not to take the title update within the first couple of hours of it being available...but then I've also been burned by getting achievements/unlocks in other games while not connected to Live and losing them upon subsequently taking a title update.

*sighs* This music is starting to get a tad stale. I cannot honestly believe that the planning capabilities of Bioware are so poor that you guys cannot come out with a reasonable timeframe.

This kind of crap can happen, but the lack of real and transparent communication beyond "hey, we're here. we're listening but we are not telling you squat" is truly appalling.

I've seen similar debacles before in the gaming industry, but normally they were followed by the CEO of the involved software house, or someone equally high ranked posting himself to at the very least issue an apology and give some sensible information on how, why and when.
Here it seems that all is well, and that we are the bad guys for being impatient over a product delayed twice, announced for "later today" and then disappeared without a word, while many of us already paid for it. Appalling for sure...

So for us who got the DLC allready and the patch can just clear the xbox cache and everything should be allright since the problems lays in the patch and not in the DLC?

I hope that they don't do an "if patch is present..." type fix, because I cleared my cache, but my game is still broken (albiet with the patch no longer present).

also, the patch didn't fix my DLC gamerscore either... (nor did I even get the payoff of ostagar :()

The Title Update has been removed by Microsoft. If anyone was worried about playing their copy of Dragon Age: Origins on their Xbox 360 whle this was present, you no longer need to worry.

We are still working on a fix the the issue introduced to those who did install the Title Update.

We are checking all versions of Return to Ostagar to ensure that there are no outstanding issues or the possibility of introducing new ones. Currently, we do not have an eta for the release of Return ot Ostagar on any platform.

When I have more details or information, I will let you know.

 This is what I was talking all this time in the forums. I think this is a good sign of commitment to the enhancement of the quality of the game.
Directly saying no ETA while you guys are working.

Thanks for the update, good luck with the DLC.

Clearing your Cache will not work. However, we can have full confidence that BioWare will fix this issue in the next few hours/days.

Glad that Bioware are going to get rid of the bugs before releasing RTO. That said, i wish they would stop issuing release dates as they are usually missed anyway :S

Call me a skeptic, especially since a release date has been given to an expansion due in March, when the DLC due weeks ago hasn't even been released yet. Any takers on when the expansion will be released Posted Image

Maybe someone should start a thread for those who did download/update for the 360 so there will be a clear answer on this cache clearing update problem, im not trying to complain but its not easy to sift through 45 or more pages just to find out if the problem can be fixed on our end, or if we have to wait for bioware to fix it for us.

all of their statements so far imply that it was only the patch that broke people's games--RtO itself seems to be quite fine

The problem, as I understand it, isn't that your characters lose the specializations they already have. It's that all of the specializations re-lock, so if you have a character who levels up and gains a specialization point, you can't spend it - even on specializations you can confirm in your completed quest log you've unlocked. I downloaded the update last night and also unlocked Arcane Warrior, but I can't actually assign the specialization because it relocked itself. Which means any party members I have with specialization points, I can't level unless I want to just wait for them to level again (which I don't) - so essentially, I can't play the game until Bioware puts out the patch for the patch.
I saw there was no eta for the PC release of RtO, but does anyone know if there's an eta for the fix? -And PC people, don't whine - your game is at least functioning properly at the moment.

And if that was the case then the patch would be recalled and the dlc releaed no?

Someone earlier said they uninstalled the update and their specializations were still locked. So whatever the problem is, it isn't getting solved until Bioware gives us the patch. Unless you happen to be possessed of the ability to go into the code and fix it yourself, which I think is illegal.

Well you would only notice it if one of your characters leveled after you installed the patch. And even then, you probably wouldn't notice unless you also happened to have a specialization point at the time as well. Most of the time I completely ignore the specializations bar when I level up.
