Sorry but you basically in this thread have been stating all along that the PC version of RTO was possibly not affected by the console title update problem.

Chris just stated in what you quoted him saying:  "We are still working on details for  ALL versions of RTO" (capitals my emphasis)

Being he said ALL versions ..that tells me that the PC version also has some sort of problem that they are working on..or fixing, or checking, but are not ready AT THIS TIME TO REVEAL, if they ever do.   I don't think they need to tell us every fiddly thing they do..in order to get the game out to us.

I  think we need to slow down..quit annoying them, be patient...go onto other topics ..and the NAG factor needs to stop.

Nagging doesn't get any of us anywhere...it closes their ears to us....in future it might be important to have access to those ears..so let them figure out whats wrong, or track down whats wrong, without alot of unnecessary stress being laid on their shoulders, I am sure they have enough to deal with as it is.

my two gold sovereigns.

Quit annoying them? I'm sorry, but at the moment, after several weeks of screwups, topped by some dire lack of any real communication beyond the "it'll be out when it's out, we'll tell you later, maybe", they pretty much gave up the right to be annoyed, and they should be quite grateful of the fact that we're still here "nagging" them instead of just giving up on the game and moving on to some of the other many offerings the gaming market is bursting from lately.

Personally, I work as a self employed consultant, and this means that I work with deadlines every day of my life. When I'm under contract with a company that commissions a project (projects that can go wrong very easily if i'm not careful), I have to use my judgement and planning ability to give them an estimated time for delivery.
What do you think it happens if something bad happens and I have to miss the deadline (thing that thankfully happens very rarely, or I'd go out of business easy peasy, given how competitive the market is). Do you think any of my clients would settle with a "I'm sorry, I'm checking, at the moment I don't have an ETA for the delivery of the project"?
If i tried to pull something like that i'd receive a nice happy kick in my rear.
Instead I have to plan ahead, judge what's to be done and give them another reasonable deadline, which I will NOT miss, because if i miss a deadline a second time, I can pretty much say farewell to the job and to the chance to work with that company again in the future (and with quite a few other companies in the same field).

Bioware has failed to deliver on the deadline twice, and then announced a release for the same day, only to fall silent a whole day and night and then communicate that they failed to meet the deadline again without as much as an apology from the company's higher ups. In my line of business that'd be an extremely serious matter that would bring some quite disastrous consequences for my career. On top of it, they still refuse to give us a reasonable timeframe, despite the fact that many of us already paid for the product.

I'm sorry if my disappointment for the lack of professionalism i see in a company that I always trusted and appreciated disturbs you, or "nags" them. Personally, I'm not as naive as to believe that they don't have an amended roadmap for the release of the DLC (no company would work without that) and I find it extremely disappointing that they continue to keep such roadmap under silence.
To put it down simply, after all the screwups, that go way beyond the usual in this kind of market (expecially due to the circumstances, all the delays have been announced at the very last moment for instance, or beyond the last moment, actually)I think we're entitled to a better and more complete communication on their plans and schedules.
You're entitled to disagree, but this is my two cents, sovereigns, eurocents, or whatever.

No, there's your lack of communication, or better, it's communication without any kind of information. In PR lingo, we call it "smokescreen".

If RtO takes long enough, maybe they'll consider including it with the coming expansion.  Like how Stone Prisoner is being included with the original game for a limited time.  Or perhaps they could include some other addon as a limited time bonus with the expansion's release.  Or maybe they will delay the expansion to add an addon to its release.  Anyhow, I can certainly see RtO being delayed another couple months, and I can foresee them delaying Awakening too.

At the very least this sets the track record for how long it really takes to get an addon out.  Overestimating the first addon means they can adjust their timeline for additional addons accordingly.  If in the real world it's going to take an additional month or two to get an addon out, then they've learned to add a couple months to each additional addon being planned to match their realistic capabilities.  Also, if  development plans are more aggressive than what can actually be done, it is better not to make announcements until addons are past being done.

I got the update yesterday, and getting closer to the point in the game where I would unlock this, and I would hate for it not to.

I've seen the same issue on the official Xbox forums, but only a few people reported it, so I wasn't sure if it was a general bug, or if they just got unlucky.

While I did appreciate the update, it still more than half a day after this whole thing happened. This is ESPECIALLY bad considering they never put up the PC DLC, deleted the release announcement topic, and didn't mention anywhere anything about the PC DLC until Chris posted. Someone obviously had to be logged on to delete the release topic and create this one, and it only takes one sentence to announce that the PC DLC would not be released, but the did not even do that. It's COMPLETELY understandable that people are annoyed by that type of communication, though at this point I personally am just shrugging my shoulders of the whole thing.

Also, my original point still stands: You didnt bother to read the previous person's post, and posted a reply that didn't even talk about his actual complaints.

I pray that is not the case.  I have already pre ordered the expansion and also bought points for the dlc as i am sure alot of others have too.   If that happens they will get several angry customers who want their mony back for the points they cant use.

There's a radical difference between "standing" a delay for a DLC, and demurely accepting a zero information policy for a product that we already paid for, and that has been basically delayed three times. It's sure not going to affect my life radically, but this doesn't mean I have to be happy about it, or to start clapping furiously and yelling "bravo Bioware! You're handling it perfectly!".
When you're used  to have very little leeway for screwups, seeing this kind of screwfests, but even more so the lack of proper communication following them kinda makes you cringe. Expecially when the ones screwing up repeatedly behave like nothing happened and all is well and don't even consider a change in their communication policy.

Again, delays are acceptable (even if now we're seriously approaching the level of a farce), complete lack of informative communication, not so much.

So carefully in fact that all my specializations are still locked and I've seen no guarantee that unlocking them again won't result in them relocking as soon as I close the game. Yes, good job on checking things so thoroughly. <_<

This.

Imagine if you tried to pull something like this in work or in school. You go up to your teacher and say "The dog ate my homework, so I don't have it, sorry. I'll maybe tell you what's up later, K?"

You don't. You would get an F and possibly other punishments for NOT doing the work you are EXPECTED to do. Bioware gets an F for doing just that TWICE. Then, they get another F for giving us a glitch from the Patch we got after an extension for the deadline (this patch SHOULD have been tested before release). If Bioware were a smaller company, Sony and Microsoft would stop suporting them, and they would be forced to go to Steam games or flash games.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the game, but I CAN'T play it until this gets resolved, and I can't recomend anyone to buy this now, which makes them lose money.

check my games profile if you wish.
myself, my wife, and daughter all play the pc version and the 360 version.
its not as if im sitting here enjoying the issues and delays.
but its not helping to rant over and over about it.
its a known issue, its being addressed, as i stated in another post,
i would rather they be in session trying to correct it, instead of addressing abunch of screaming site users that  cant seem to fathom they realize there is an issue and they want it fixed as well.
what else do you want?
they have to check their codes as well as run it thru ms as well to find their coding issues and try to make it work as it should. what this should be instantly done?
you want a step by step post about each thing found and discussed?
people cry about not having an eta, yet get ranting mad when they do suggest an eta and its not met.
who can blame them for that!

your post doesnt stand what so ever. i did read his post and it is a carbon copy of most the rant posts here about how " they have run into debacles such as this time and again etc etc".

my statement stands. code or give it a break.

Given that I don't happen to have Ray's telephone number, my only way to "talk" to them is through this forum and Chris. It's obvious that Chris isn't at fault for the lack of communication, since he's not taking the decision to keep us in the dark independently. Hopefully, though, he will report to the higher ups that such choice is starting to annoy the customer base. Most probably that won't change anything, but you never know.

I can only respect software house CEO's that don't always hide behind community managers and come to check their forums and respond often by themselves. Unfortunately they are a rare sight. People like Mark Jacobs will always have my respect for that, despite how much screwups their companies lined on games I loved (warhammer Online is an example). At the very least they came to my face regularly to explain what was wrong and how they were planning to solved it.

I can sympathise with you. I work as a programmer in a medical software company and have to make sure any customizations and such are done at a good pace. Unlike you we don't have solid due dates, but even so the hospital always wants to be kept up to date about what's going on; you can be sure that they would get on my case if I just said "we're working on it but I have no clue how long and I wont tell you what the problem is" or something like that.

They focus more on being kept up to date rather than the actual time taken (though obviously they'd want coding done ASAP), and the same can probably be said of most jobs out there. Bioware's level of ambiguity after leaving people in the dark for so long could normally damage relationships with customers (or in my case, get me fired) for most other jobs; I just wish that the majority of people arguing against us realize we're as upset at the delay itself as we are the way Bioware is handling updating its situation and frustrating their long-term fans.

I hate to bring it up for risk of getting in trouble, but surely we should know if there are any serious bugs with the pc version. I think maybe there are some people out there who have played it already for some strange reason? Possibly someone here would have heard something from someone who heard it from someone?

Im not sure if this would work, but couldnt the people who have already downloaded the TU for xbox just delete their updates cache? I'm not quite sure though because this seems like something to simple to overlook, but ill post the directions anyway:
  • On the dashboard go to the "Home" tab and scroll over to "System Settings"
  • Find the "Memory" button and click on it.
  • Choose the location where your updates are downloaded to (most likely your hard drive)
  • Press "Y" for "Drive Options"
  • Enter the following code : X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"
  • Select "Yes"
  • After it is done, restart your Xbox
Note: This will erase ALL Title Updates for every game, so you will have to download every TU again for all games (which really isnt a bad thing just an FYI)

Now if you have already played DA with the TU downloaded then i'm not sure this would help anyway because of the saves made after the update was downloaded or because specilizations are linked to your account. But if you have already downloaded the update, but HAVE NOT played then i see no reason why this wouldn't help.

I hope this helps:innocent:
