My goodness... here's what I've learned: Bioware is in the business of pleasing everybody, which they seem to fail at but still manage to make good money doing, M$ is a money-grubbing coporation that ineptly tries to one-up the competition by releasing games and DLC before they are ready to be released, and PC and console gamers are a well-read mob that turn into raving, spoiled children at any inconvenience or insult, and who eventually turn on each other if they don't get their way.

Now, get off the slide, it's my turn.

what exactly is wrong with this new patch, i have RTO and the update, iv been playing since yesterday and its working perfectly fine. all my class specializations are there and working fine that i know of so can someone tell me whats wrong with the new patch?

Your specializations won't "disappear", they will, however, show as locked when you need to select a new one at level 7 and 14. If you're already beyond level 14 you shouldn't be affected until you play a character under that level.

i glitched leveled a new character after the patch and i was able to pick all my classes so there is nothing wrong with it for me. it works perfectly fine

And that's the problem. Chris should be given the info, or someone that has it should come here and post it. That's how proper customer relations work.

You got lucky then. Some of us, not so much. May want to watch the glitch leveling though. I tried that once just to see if it could actually be done and ended up with corrupt saves towards the end of the game. Only time that happened to me was after exploiting a glitch.

Ok, not once have I 'moaned' about this issue. strike one there, get your facts right. second, what is there to get or not to get?

If there is something to 'not get' then its yourself who indeed does not get it, as I said (and you quoted, thus proving others correct that you have a selctive reading problem) that if something is screwed up beyond comprehension, and that in turn causes peoples games/saves etc to be messed up..

they have a LEGITIMATE claim to be upset, and wow guess what, come here and moan about it. Now again, if you can't handle that and want to act all pious to eveyone who does want to get some rage pff their chests, again, I suggest you stay out of this thread, otherwise you might be in danger of braking your keyboard, as your currently outnumbered in your opinion by avast number.

Again, Im not moaning at whats happened, why beef is with people moaning without reeason at those who do have good reason.

My PC is currently dead, so Im actually quite happy its still not right personally...

read a few of my posts before responding.
thanks.
my whole family is upset over this.
i spent money on the "elite" pc version , only to have no update,
as well as the box version just to have all our characters flumoxed.
so yeah, i understand "reason for" and "legitimate".
good luck with that reading thing.

I have experienced this Glitch, sadface. Does anyone know what would happen if entered a part of the game where I would actually unlock the specialization? Like if I convinced Alastair to teach me how to be a templar. Would it unlock normally? Or stay locked....

Sorry but you basically in this thread have been stating all along that the PC version of RTO was possibly not affected by the console title update problem.

Chris just stated in what you quoted him saying:  "We are still working on details for  ALL versions of RTO" (capitals my emphasis)

Being he said ALL versions ..that tells me that the PC version also has some sort of problem that they are working on..or fixing, or checking, but are not ready AT THIS TIME TO REVEAL, if they ever do.   I don't think they need to tell us every fiddly thing they do..in order to get the game out to us.

I  think we need to slow down..quit annoying them, be patient...go onto other topics ..and the NAG factor needs to stop.

Nagging doesn't get any of us anywhere...it closes their ears to us....in future it might be important to have access to those ears..so let them figure out whats wrong, or track down whats wrong, without alot of unnecessary stress being laid on their shoulders, I am sure they have enough to deal with as it is.

my two gold sovereigns.

Quit annoying them? I'm sorry, but at the moment, after several weeks of screwups, topped by some dire lack of any real communication beyond the "it'll be out when it's out, we'll tell you later, maybe", they pretty much gave up the right to be annoyed, and they should be quite grateful of the fact that we're still here "nagging" them instead of just giving up on the game and moving on to some of the other many offerings the gaming market is bursting from lately.

Personally, I work as a self employed consultant, and this means that I work with deadlines every day of my life. When I'm under contract with a company that commissions a project (projects that can go wrong very easily if i'm not careful), I have to use my judgement and planning ability to give them an estimated time for delivery.
What do you think it happens if something bad happens and I have to miss the deadline (thing that thankfully happens very rarely, or I'd go out of business easy peasy, given how competitive the market is). Do you think any of my clients would settle with a "I'm sorry, I'm checking, at the moment I don't have an ETA for the delivery of the project"?
If i tried to pull something like that i'd receive a nice happy kick in my rear.
Instead I have to plan ahead, judge what's to be done and give them another reasonable deadline, which I will NOT miss, because if i miss a deadline a second time, I can pretty much say farewell to the job and to the chance to work with that company again in the future (and with quite a few other companies in the same field).

Bioware has failed to deliver on the deadline twice, and then announced a release for the same day, only to fall silent a whole day and night and then communicate that they failed to meet the deadline again without as much as an apology from the company's higher ups. In my line of business that'd be an extremely serious matter that would bring some quite disastrous consequences for my career. On top of it, they still refuse to give us a reasonable timeframe, despite the fact that many of us already paid for the product.

I'm sorry if my disappointment for the lack of professionalism i see in a company that I always trusted and appreciated disturbs you, or "nags" them. Personally, I'm not as naive as to believe that they don't have an amended roadmap for the release of the DLC (no company would work without that) and I find it extremely disappointing that they continue to keep such roadmap under silence.
To put it down simply, after all the screwups, that go way beyond the usual in this kind of market (expecially due to the circumstances, all the delays have been announced at the very last moment for instance, or beyond the last moment, actually)I think we're entitled to a better and more complete communication on their plans and schedules.
You're entitled to disagree, but this is my two cents, sovereigns, eurocents, or whatever.

n0y0ki wrote...
theres your communication.

No, there's your lack of communication, or better, it's communication without any kind of information. In PR lingo, we call it "smokescreen".

We're all just enjoying the new "Deep Mushroom" armor that we've been given as compensation.   Bioware is just trying to make it grow more powerful. Posted Image

As soon as possible? Is that like within the next 24 hours soon or quite possibly longer soon? I understand that this DLC just isn't going smoothly for you guys and I hope it does not discourage you for future content. At any rate, I'll be sitting tight and waiting because games like this are worth waiting for. Good luck on fixing the issue and I eagerly await it's resolve. Keep working gentleman and ladies, we love your game.

Same here.  PC version ROCKS!!!!  Keep up the great work.  Glitches and road bumps occur during this type of thing and it doesn't help when the masses complain....

Thanks, Chris, for update on RtO and timeframe...waiting patiently.  Also pre-ordered Awakening already through GameStop......hurry up March 2010, get here already!   LOL:whistle:

Until you've actually written a complicated program STFU.

You can't compare being a consultant with being a programmer.

Any date they would give you would be a guess, and any attempt to meet that deadline could result in an unfinished or inferior product. Let them fix it, and get it right.

Anyway I picked it up before it was pulled. The bug isn't that bad and the weapons are choice

First of all, you have no idea on what I work on. Secondarily, I happen to have written and overseen quite a few complex pieces of code, not to mention some extremely problematic products in the field of audio-visual productions, that have a production chain quite similar to videogames (and an equally volatile fanbase).
Sorry, but "STFU" doesn't cut it just as much as "we're working on it, there's no ETA, Ktxbye". But please, do try that kind of answer in any professional environment (programming included), and let's see where it brings you.

ok, i can agree with you on that point.
but apparently he hasnt been given it.
hold him responsible?
no.
hes doing what he can when he can.
at this point i will agree, the "higher ups" could be offering more.
but they arent, and griping isnt helping it at all.
but do we know exactly what they are contractly under?
are they allowed to say "hey! ms messed it up so blame them!"
since the issue is with ms and not bioware, seems probable.
it has been stated that it was the ms title update that did this, and NOT bioware,
how tied are their hands in this?
would you want gates down your throat for "slander" or what not?
i wouldnt, the man probably has blightwolves for lawyers.
anyways, i do agree with alot of your points, but the fact remains,
there is nothing we can do nor bioware until its fixed and done.

Ohhh so the 'whole' family is upset is it?

And you 'can' understand why people are upset. So get off your soapbox then and stop having a go at people who want to rage, vent and demand whats going on. The fact that its pointless is irrelevent, and should be to you also don't you think?

I'd like to be quoted on where I encouraged the public hanging of Chris.

But for better or worse, Chris is the public face of Bioware in this forum (or at least one of the public faces). While he's not directly responsible for our woes, he's the one paid to receive our complaints and comments and report them, so talking to him is the only thing we can do, besides speaking with our wallets, thing that I have no doubt, some will do as well.

You know, rather being high and mighty about people who have legitimate claims to be ranting and raving, if you dont like the comments, might be well advised to stay out of the forums mate :)

Just a friendly suggestion.

apparently you didnt see that i and my family play bother versions,
we got nailed with the xbox glitch and also got denied the pc version release.
legitimate claims?
yeah ok.

again, what is needed?
" damn it i want my dl content for pc!, i want my locked specs unlocked again so i dont have to start over!"

bam, must be fixed now
combined we have over 500 hours invested in bother versions.
again, its not as if im enjoying this in any way, neither are they.
but come on, is it helping to point out ever little delay or issue?
has it gotten you ANY satisfaction?
it is what it is, happened the way it happened.
i dled the RTO content minutes after it hit live market a day early.
ran in with my rogue and had a blast, just to switch to my arcane warrior i had started 3 days earlier, just to see it all gone spec wise.
wasnt pleasant at all.
ranting at chris or any other site people isnt going to get it fixed faster.
why is that so hard to get?

Do you think that your posts are helping in any way, or do you just feel the need to vent?  Either way, you feel you have the right to criticize others while condemning them for doing the same thing you are doing.  Helpful?  No.

They can delay future content all they want, I haven't paid for that yet. What I did pay for was Dragon Age Origins, and now they have broken it. They should be annoyed. I know I am annoyed. And I'm probably going to pass on ME2 now as well. I don't pay 59.99 for headaches and "when it's ready..." I can go buy other games, and I can trade this one in to do it.
