This DLC certainly has a curse of some sort, something definitely doesn't want us to return to Ostagar.

I wouldn't be surprised if they shelved it until a later date at this point due to some pi** poor coding that means it has to be started again from scratch. Disappointed certainly, but not surprised.

Wow, I was wondering where all my specializations went! At least now I know.

Boo-urns. Hopefully they're still working on a fix. It took me several playthroughs to unlock them all.

Just to put everyones mind at ease, I've already tried crying. Like a little school-girl in fact.

Still didn't fix it. So if you're trying to figure out what to do next you can go ahead and cross that one off the list. I was going to send an e-mail with the helpful advice of 'Have you tried finding the cause of the technical issue and fixing it?' but I wasn't sure what e-mail address to send it to.

With these helpful options exhausted, both of them nearly as effective as complaining on a forum, what next? All that's left I guess is to curl up into the fetal position, hug my sense of disempowerment over controlling things like software someone else is writing, and just wait for it to be ready.

You are under the impression that anyone knows any of that.

Are you seriously asking us to believe that they're completely clueless about the situation? please... Let's be real.

I am. You are the one who is demanding all the answers this instant. There is a huge difference between "completely clueless" and "working towards an answer."

An "utter lack of communication" would be if no one from BW was coming here at all with any information.

In fact I see no information beyond the absolutely obvious.

There have been answers. Just because it isn't the answer you want doesn't mean the answer is any less valid.

"we are working on it" isn't information. It's a given.

Actually, it isn't a given. It can be assumed BW is working on the issue, but nothing says they actually have to. Maybe they changed their minds and will release RTO on the disk with Awakenings. Perfectly valid option, and perfectly valid reason to not be paying any attention to RTO at the moment.

So yes, being told "we're working on it" is news.

But you don't care about 360 owners whose games are already borked, so long as YOU get what YOU want. 360 owners bought their games and lost all the time they put into unlocking specs, and you are concerned because you are having to wait a little bit for a $5, 1 hour DLC? Grow up!

Ahah, the old "grow up" catchphrase used when one lacks arguments.

I laid out my arguments repeatly - and they are true. You are whining because you can't play RTO this very instant. It has been pointed out to you by several people that there are a lot worse things than having to wait for a DLC, but you don't care. You want it, you want it now, and you don't care about anyone else. Hence why I told you to grow up.

I don't remember bioware promising "the PC release won't affect the  console ones", but I sure do remember them telling in multiple occasions that the console versions would have not affected the PC one.

If you want it, it has already been pointed out that it is on torrent sites. Why are you waiting here, rather than getting it? If your answer is "because torrents can have bugs," that could be the very reason BW is holding back RTO.

BTW, you are making an assumption that holding back the PC has anything to do with the 360. RTO has already been held back twice - as you have pointed out repeatedly. They could be unrelated to each other.

Having a fit is not going to get RTO released any quicker. Clicking "Refresh" every minute is not going to get it released any quicker.

PC gamers are always the ones that have to wait (even several months) when they want to play games that are normally considered "console territory" (adventures, third person shooters and a growing number of other genres). With Dragon Age console gamers stepped into "PC territory", it's only fair that they're the ones to wait, for once.

I can think of a ton of games that came out earlier on the PC, or not at all on the console. Trying to blame everything on the 360 is a failing argument. Also, please note that RTO (1) is not out on the PS3, and (2) was not supposed to come out on the 360 when it did and has been pulled from XBL.

So, I downloaded the title update before I found out that it caused yo to lose all your specializations. Should I continue playing under the assumption that this will be fixed? None of my characters need to take any specializations in the immediate future, although i will want to use them eventually.

That's sophistry. We're talking about professionals here, they definitely know quite a lot more than what they told us.

There have been answers. Just because it isn't the answer you want doesn't mean the answer is any less valid.

Stating the obvious is not an answer. Sorry to have to break this to you

Actually, it isn't a given. It can be assumed BW is working on the issue, but nothing says they actually have to. Maybe they changed their minds and will release RTO on the disk with Awakenings. Perfectly valid option, and perfectly valid reason to not be paying any attention to RTO at the moment.

Lol, you're grasping at straws so hard that your hands must be
hurting. You know that cancelling a product (because commercially and
legally-wise, including it in a more costly product would have the same
effect as cancelling it) after three delays (one of which at the last
minute, the second beyond the last minute), despite such product having
been been publicized with a price on the official site, price that
people have been already encouraged to pay, would be false
advertisement?
The sole fact that you come out and define that a "perfectly valid option" shows a quite amazing level of denial.

I laid out my arguments repeatly - and they are true.

An argument isn't automatically true because you say so, you know?

You are whining because you can't play RTO this very instant. It has been pointed out to you by several people that there are a lot worse things than having to wait for a DLC, but you don't care. You want it, you want it now, and you don't care about anyone else. Hence why I told you to grow up.

Unfortunately that kind of petty taunts don't add any more ground to your argument, quite the contrary.
There always are "a lot of worse things" that can happen. That doesn't make three delays in a row with no proper communication and no publicly stated roadmap on a content that many already paid for any better, or even acceptable.

If you want it, it has already been pointed out that it is on torrent sites. Why are you waiting here, rather than getting it? If your answer is "because torrents can have bugs," that could be the very reason BW is holding back RTO.

LOL. Now you get to the point of encouraging people to support piracy? Are you that desperate?

I'll just say that I'll never install pirated content. It's a matter of principle. I couldn't care the less about the bugs. Beyond that, I'll let the mods deal with this kind of talk.

Having a fit is not going to get RTO released any quicker. Clicking "Refresh" every minute is not going to get it released any quicker.

Bending over and shutting up in front of lack of professionalism and proper communication isn't going to get it released any quicker. if any, it can easily give developers the idea that no matter how hard they screw up, people won't flinch. Definitely a damaging impression to give.

I don't know where Bioware is based, but on the West Coast, it's 7:45 now. Are we figuring they have a normal 9-5 schedule? Because Chris hasn't posted an update on their progress in 6 hours, and I'm starting to get annoyed. Not having the DLC out doesn't bother me as much as the fact that at the moment, my game is broken (in regard to specializations) and unless I want to leave levels pending, I can't play until they patch that. I don't know what happened to break it, but I would think they should at least be able to put out a game update to undo the minor damage the last one did while they work on a full update to fix the DLC... sigh.

...also, although I don't want to get dragged into it, I really can't help but point out that the post above me states "I'll just say that I never buy pirated content." ...generally, you don't buy pirated content. That's sort of the point. Just saying.

I feel for Bioware I truly do. I mean they want to get the DLC to everyone believe me that they are dying to do so. The accounting dept of EA and the managers who crack the whips behind them; for their desire to get their great bonuses and stock options is all that matters to them.

They only reason they don't give you any release info is it this : the rain of hell that would come down on them for doing so is too much to bear. Anyone who has worked for a large corporation can attest to that.

I was asked to post this here instead of where I originally posted it. So here it is.

Bioware,

I am not going to sit here and complain, threaten or try to cajoule you into releasing content. However I did want to say the following.

I am dissapointed in Bioware. The way this entire thing has been handled has been, to say the very least, a very poor customer experience. I actually find myself regretting my pre-order of Mass Effect 2. I have lost faith in your Brand, your Customer Service and worst of all your direction as a company. It is my hope that as a company you learn from this experience. The experience internally, the experience externally, and most of all the experience of the managment involved in this. It is my sincere hope that this does not continue in future endevours. I work in an industry of code and systems, and I understand the difficulties that can/will occur. I believe all of us in these industries understand the importance of setting expectations, meeting goals, and providing a superior customer experience. In this instance you have failed at all of these things. I do however remember several instances where you have excelled at these same principles. I do hope this incident will prove to be the exception not the rule. Thanks for all the great games and hours of enjoyment, may you fair better in future quests!

Are you seriously that upset? My lord man. it's not like you went out and spent 80 dollars on a coaster. You love the game, and you're obviously dying to play ME2; since you pre-ordered it (you wouldn't have done so if you weren't dying to play it)

This is 1 hour of extra content. Get over it. They didn't intend for this to happen. They aren't evil.

They want to give you an enjoyable experience and get paid for their hard work.

But since you are declaring not buying anything form Bioware, which is owned by EA that is a lot of games you aren't going to play. Since all the best Northamerican RPGs are made by bioware, have fun in your search.

I'm quite sure I'm able to understand "There is a bug in the PC version that affects X and Y" or "The PC version is ready for release, but we prefer to release it at the same time as the Xbox version" (in which case, we would at least know what to be upset about) or again "Our current roadmap is to have a week-long playtesting session before releasing the content, unless further problems arise", and so forth. Are you not?
There's no need to lay out every little technical detail to be informative. At the moment, they're not being informative at all, and that's the whole problem.

Darklydreaming wrote...

You're right. They didn't intend for this to happen, but they could and should have handled communication about the problem much better than this. While delaying a product is acceptable. Delaying it two times, releasing a critically bugged version and then delaying it again, AND, on top of it all keeping paying customers pretty much in the dark for days about the situation is not that acceptable anymore.
It's not "evil", but for sure it's not a behavioir i'd define professional.

but if they say something that they cannot live up to they will be in a world of hell. Not from us; but from their superiors. They have ppl that must answer to, and the powers that be might have had a huge conniption fit over what had just transpired yesterday. Point is they may not be allowed to tell you anything; they may want to dearly, but their livelihood is not worth risking for it
