I don't know why everyone is saying it's Microsoft's fault... a regular forum dweller started that rumor, Bioware never stated that nor even hinted at it.
"Return to Ostagar is now unexpectedly available for the Xbox 360."
http://social.biowar.../9/index/604603
I dunno maybe I read to much into that.
I saw that and the thought didn't slip my mind.... however I think you did read too much into it. It was unexpected..... there was no announcement about the new release date... it was just a asap thing...... it was a surprise, hence unexpected. There's a chance that part can be true and there's a chance it's not.... but no matter what I wouldn't point the blame on either. They both want what's best for their customers. Every company should think like that.... maybe they'd be as successful as both Microsoft and Bioware.

Dang I don't think I've ever heard/read anyone defending MS with such determination. I lol'd at your posts, chill out already...
yeah, hello pc user. how are you?
lmao... anyway...
I don't think they want to release it until it available for all platforms. They were planning simultaneous release from the start for this DLC, but then "SOMEONE" (couldn't have been Microsoft, even though they are the ones that control when it actually rolls out on Live) dropped the ball and released it too early for 360, so I think they said "screw it" and were going to release for PC a.s.a.p. then PS3 whenever they could as well which wasn't quite as soon. Now that they have been given a reason to recall the DLC I'm betting they don't release it until it is ready for all platforms.

Abriael I agree, however they probably have signed agreements about release dates that force the developer to do it simultaneously. It is not M$'s fault that the developer has problems with the platform, therefore the dev has nowhere to back up releasing on other platforms.
They might sort something out if they renegotiate, but I doubt what is "fair" to the users of other platforms will be the end result.
Today Microsoft released RTO when they were not supposed to. (It was supposed to be released tomorrow)
That by itself I have no doubt is a serious contract breach, and honestly I hope that Bioware will make them pay dearly for that.
If they didn't pull the trigger prematurely, Bioware would have released the content simultaneously on PC, and tomorrow everyone would have had RTO to enjoy. Maybe the 360 content update bug would have made it past today, maybe someone at Bioware would have noticed it and corrected it, we can't know. What we know is that Microsoft was NOT supposed to release RTO but they didn't anyway, breaching the release contract and Bioware's trust.
I can easily imagine that some shady guy at microsoft could have the guts to still try and pull whatever simultaneous release deal they have to get every other version of the DLC delayed, but I firmly believe that, given that Microsoft breached the deal by releasing prematurily, Bioware has full rights to leave them in the dust until the rest of their customers (many of which, like me, already paid), are serviced.ITSSEXYTIME wrote...
Like Microsoft has any control over
release... I'm sure Bioware/EA set the time and if MS doesn't like it
then they just won't release the DLC on their platform. (And then
Microsoft has to explain to enraged 360 owners why)
Not really. Microsoft has full control over the Xbox Live servers, whatever gets available or pulled from the servers is exclusively controlled by Microsoft. What Bioware does is simply sending them the content and telling them "it's to be released on date X".
You actually don't know anything that you claim to. Today there was a scheduled 360 update (the title update). It is required to run RtO, so it is much more likely that someone at Bioware inadvertantly linked the update and the download. Certainly makes more sense than Xbox breaching contract for ****s and giggles.
But you're right. You didn't get your toy today so Microsoft must be punished.

First of all, you know nothing about what other people know or don't know. It's not even the first time something like this happens with Xbox Live and content gets released ahead of time and then pulled.
Secondarily, if you really believe that Microsoft allows any direct control to third parties on their Xbox Live platform, and any content that's downloaded or viewed through it, I'm afraid you're a lil delusional.
Obviously they didn't breach their deal intentionally, but the error lies on Microsoft's side, as today's posts from Bioware quite clearly indicated.

Not only that, but just because we use their OS doesn't mean everything they do is as amazing and/or correct...
And I don't think anyone has said MS did it on purpose... yet again, stuff happens...

Hello Dragon Age fans
This morning a title update on the Xbox 360 for Dragon Age: Origins was made available in preparation for the release of Return to Ostagar. This title update introduced a previously undetected issue that causes specialization classes to not work correctly in Dragon Age: Origins. We are removing Return to Ostagar from Xbox Live until the issue is resolved and are recommending that you do not download the title update. If you have already performed the update, we apologize for this and are working hard to ensure a fix is available as soon as possible.
We will provide more information to you when it is available.
Frustrating, but I'm sure just as frustrating for all of you at Bioware as well.
Thanks for keeping us as updated as possible.

Whatever the case, this is a live and learn experience for Bioware. They probably got a bit ambitious with such large amounts of DLC and strict deadlines for multiple platforms when they are not completely comfortable with the processes behind all of them.

For those that have played it -- what did you think? I hope this doesn't sound totally obnoxious, but I was a bit underwhelmed. I think my hopes (if not my expectations) were too high. The Stone Prisoner was just so well done.
Agreed about the Stone Prisoner.
Hope we get these update hiccups fixed soon.

RtO was advertised and offered for download through the game client, not the xbox dashboard, immediately after the title update this morning, so, yeah, I would believe that has a little more to do with the Bioware side of things than Microsoft. As for why RtO would be on the Live servers, chances are they were originally meant to launch tomorrow. Hell, until the Xbox issues, Bioware was all ready to roll out the PC version later today.
There has been no official announcement one way or the other to place blame. What we do know is that there is a pretty serious bug with an update that is required to run RtO on the Xbox. If Bioware didn't go back and make sure the PC and PS3 launches were clear of trouble at this point, it would be an even bigger screw up than it already is.
Like I said, and as you have admitted, your panties are just in a bunch because you didn't get your toy today. If it had been released on the PC with the specialization bug, you'd still be here crying about it.

You can't just download something to an Xbox from the internet... ALL content goes through XBOX Live... On a completely factory system anyway
