In my mock-Chris statement, I did try to word it so that Chris wasn't completely taking the blame. I don't blame him solely. Well... maybe I do. But that's because it was his name on the post that told me it was safe to assume that RtO would be available in a matter of hours. Sucks to be the spokesperson, but most spokespersons understand the levity of their job and take precautions, rather than throwing out information into the wind that could result in people feeling ripped-off.

But the decisions ultimately weren't his. Everyone has a boss, and I'm sure Priestly has just been following orders since day one. Also, I think you meant gravity, not levity. Levity means lightheartedness, which doesn't really fit in with the point I think your trying to makePosted Image

Oh I bet you people are just a tech-supports' dream on the phone, and I can hear you all saying, " what me? I'm a perfect little angel when dealing with those "half-witted techies"".

Keep telling yourself that, and Reality will most assuredly, bite you in the posterior, even harder.

Your heart is in the right place, but the whole carelessness on priestly's part is extremely unfair. He's a single cog in the machine that is Bioware. He was forced into an unfortunate situation with the unexpected xbox release, then had to scramble to pick up the pieces when everything fell apart. I think a donation made by Bioware would be an excellent idea, but putting all of the blame squarely on Chris' shoulders simply because he posted the bad news is cruel.

I agreed with your original sentiment that it would be a nice gesture. Now you just come off as a head in the clouds, dreaming, imbecile. Honestly. the majority of people know that Chris would be being told what/what not to say. If I was in his position and got fired because I was the spokesperson you better believe I would make sure that the company that fired me got royally ****ed in the ass to the point of not being able to afford to produce games anymore.

Seriously, find some kind of clue

Chris "would" be told what/what not to say? "Would"? My head may be in the clouds and my word-choice not always perfect, but I'm having difficulty even understanding you post.
And if you're suggesting Chris is not at ALL responsible for the posts he makes, I think thats being a bit naive as well.
But, to address your anger: Did I ever even suggest Chris get fired? Hell no.
Am I suggesting he personally pay these donations, and not the company? No.
Seriously, wtf are you talking about? I understand Chris isn't solely responsible, but he has been the spokesperson thus far, and so, as a spokesperson, would it not be him to make such an announcement about such a donation?

All I'm suggesting is that Chris, as a spokesperson for his company, make a statement saying that BIOWARE, not CHRIS, will be making a donation.

Good lord. You think I was asking for the man's execution and torture, when all I'm suggesting is that the company do something nice and he be the one, as usual, to announce it (along with, perhaps, a personal apology).

Y'know nevermind. It was just a thought, and naturally, someone misinterprets it completely and goes uber-argumentative.

Way to be. You really got me off the clouds but good.

Seriously? All this over a slight slip up? I'm excited to play Return to Ostagar also folks but come on let us remember what we are fighting over.

Maybe an hour worth of new content. Maybe. Yes I know some actually go to download the title update and the DLC and it goofed up the specs. They said they were working on a fix and would have the DLC and title update out as soon as possible.

Either way something bad happened and people are doing their best to fix it. I don't see why this would shatter people's faith in Bioware or anything of that nature.

Man I swear gamers are such an entitled lot.

Y'know. I guess I'll be more edgy about the matter, since people love to get riled.

If Chris's job is JUST a spokesperson... well... it's a rough economy with a lot of people looking for jobs.

Someone could easily be found who could do that job better than Chris, and easily be more grateful for it.

<insert devil face>

I don't know what Chris's job is exactly, but I am not happy with the post he made on the 13th that resulted in me paying BioWare money under a false pretense. I would expect that any apologies on the COMPANY'S behalf would come from Chris, as that kind of has been his role thus far.

That's all I'm saying, and if it offends you, I guess I could say it four or five more times.

Seriously, folks, it's a game-- and a very good one, or none of us would give a hoot if the DLC or updates ever came out.

I'm certain that, by now, the poor developers are beginning to wonder if that nasty boss they programmed for RtO just escaped the game and cursed the DLC.  As one of the unfortunate souls who were caught by the early release debacle on the X-Box, I can say it was well worth the wait.  I would much prefer that the folks from Bioware spend their time fixing the problems the update created and getting RtO ready to push out than have them respond to every demand for details in here--particularly since half of the people complaining haven't even read what Bioware has posted.

Yes, we can all agree that the entire thing could have been handled better.  They have been in crisis management mode for too long.  This was a frustrating series of hiccups and the developers who have been living this disastrophe for weeks are probably more frustrated than their entire customer base combined.  This is their baby.

I repeat, there was no grand conspiracy to defraud their customers, enrage their customers, drive their customers to distraction with anticipation, or otherwise goad their customers into behaving like a horde of the big baddies from the game.  That would be the world's most idiotic business model.

Perhaps Bioware needs to hire someone to just play go-between on the forums since people are too impatient to wait a bit for a response.  They do not owe us explanations.  It tends to make their customers happier, but there are an infinite number of reasons why they may not have told us the reasons behind any of this.  Spoilers, protecting the poor intern who pushed the wrong button, contractual obligations, sheer stubbornness after the downright nasty demands by a few...

If you hate their games so much, don't buy them.  If you have a frustration, try expressing it the way you would want someone to tell you about a problem.  Perspective and manners- revolutionary concepts.

I would suggest that someone from Bioware make an update in the X-box forum.  Folks having issues with the patch and/or DLC have been, understandably, going there and finding precious few answers.  They could use a little TLC.

Why would it shatter people's faith in Bioware?
Well, Bioware delayed the DLC and claimed that it was because of their commitment to providing the best quality product to their customers.  Then the DLC is released and it broke the game.( or at least the accompanying update did; even if the update and RTO are entirely unrelated, as may be the case Bioware inexorably connected them in using the problems caused by the update to pull the DLC.)

Customers are definitely entitled to something.  I paid 5 dollars to download content that was only debateably worth it in the first place, this content came packaged with a major glitch.  The user community has found out a (somewhat inconvenient) way to fix the glitch, AND keep the DLC working yet the paid developers are Bioware haven't been able to do this?

Sure, it's undeniable that some people's complaints are a bit much, and this problem alone should certainly not shatter anyone's faith in a company; but the fact that the company increasingly seems to just not care certainly does and should serve to weaken it.

Cache cleared. Hope it solves the problem for now. I believe I will check a forum before I ever download another update that's less than a month old.

I have it on PC and PS3. We can sit in the corner and watch all the 360 users run about shouting about how they were robbed by bioware of $5. Even though if they rang up microsoft they would most likely get a refund because the goods don't work, or 2 just wait and re-download it at no charge to them when it's fixed and re-posted.....funny.

This statement pretty much points the finger at him. And basically says he just kinda felt like telling us something so just threw it out there without actually being told that it was ok to give us the info.

Douche. At least if you are going to try and backtrack on what you said make some effort to get rid of your earlier posts.

Hehe to bad I am not a nice XBOX user and explained the situation to the manager in a nice conversation this morning, there will be no refund of XBL points if you download RTO DLC as it is not broken, it is the patch released that broken the game, if you spent point on the DLC you will have to wait until its available to re-download it, should be at no charge if you already purchased it.

Read that statement of mine that I quoted. The statement points the finger at him for what? What am I accusing Chris of? For making a post that he did, in fact, make?
Troll somebody else please. I haven't blamed Chris for anything that he isn't ABSOLUTELY guilty of.
Not in any of my posts, all of which I stand by, and all of which you've taken way too seriously and yet, still don't seen to comprehend.

Chris made a post on the 13th that directly resulted in me placing trust in a product that turned out to be a bust. Is it his fault solely? No, afterall he didn't make the product. BUT: Do I want him to address the problems? Yes.

:wizard:
^^^ That's for you. My way of saying goodbye. And I like how you make double posts to censor your words only to then spout out more profanities. You seem like you're very level-headed indeed. :?

Chris Priestly wrote...

Sorry folks. Until we get the information straight for all versions, I am not going to piece-meal out bits and bots. I know you are all waiting on updates for all 3 platforms and when I can confirm things for you, I will.

It seems to infuriate some of you that I post here without giving you details, and I am sorry for that too. I want you to know that we have not forgotten about you or these issues. We are working on things and will update you as soon as we have details. While it is not yet enough information, I believe it is better to know we are still listening and working  rather than being ignored and left in the dark.

Also notice this post of Chris's. There is a lot in this post that
suggests he isn't just the poor pawn repeating word-for-word what to be
told. I'm of the opinion that Chris has a pretty good amount of
discretion in what he does or does not say.

The blue-collar chip-on-the-shoulder angle isn't exactly working for me either. I know people who just died in war because they joined the army, because they couldn't pay the bills. I'm supposed to be respectful of the security of this stranger's job, a guy who as far as I can tell, has given me misinformation that resulted in profit for his company?

Sorry. Don't care.

It saddens me that I came in here with what I thought was nothing but a nice idea that held zero animosity towards anybody.

But then some troll comes to argue semantics with me and now those good feelings I came with... they're gone.

Oh well, it was far from reality anyways. If EA donated money to Red Cross, they'd say it was for no other reason than because they're perfect and caring people.

That could mean the first quarter of the year. Awakening might be out first.
