I wouldn't hold my breath if i were you.
You see this whole RTO delay issue has been a **** storm right from the start, its like anticipating the opening of a christmas present your dad bought for you, you open it only to find theres nothing inside and before you can react, someone kicks you in the balls and you writhe in pain on the floor when your dad just stands there like a statue.
lol
I just had one of those right-as-you're-going-to-sleep brilliant ideas. At least I think it is. Alternatively, it may only sound like a great idea because I had it at 2:30 am. Anyway here it is.
A lot of people have been going on about thinking Bioware should offer some sort of "compensation" for this whole fubar operation. Personally, I love the idea, but s*** ain't gonna happen. We live in a capitalistic society, chances of them giving out the DLC for free or paying you back are not high. My idea is this: since the game update only caused a glitch on the 360, why not write up a new Achievement (no, I have no idea if that's complicated). Have the fix, when it comes out, detect if you had the glitchy game update when it overwrites. If you did gain an exclusive achievement, "Achievement Unlocked, Weathering the Storm - 5G: Survived the Return to Ostagar game update fiasco"
It'd be cool, 360 users all (or almost all) have a hard-on for Achievements, this would give those of us who had to deal with this whole nasty situation recognition for our grief, and it would give us an Achievement our friends couldn't unlock, so we'd be part of an elite group. Total PR turnaround, right there,
If I remember correctly, giving you guys achievements was one of the reasons it got delayed in the first place. So no. I don't want them adding in more achievements for 360 users. As a pc user, we all COULD have obtained RtO through illegal means, but we are trying to support them. If they added another delay just to add in yet another achievement for console users (in this case 360) I wouldn't be surprised if they had pc users in their droves turning to the illegal download.
Rightly or wrongly, as far as pc gamers are concerned Bioware wouldn't be where they were today without the pc fanbase. So they expect that Bioware should be catering to them first and foremost; not the consoles. Then again, it depends where Bioware sees their long term profit coming from
As much as I love achievements (and I really do) I agree with you. Delaying it for 1 ridiculously easy achievement was just plain stupid.
Although you are wrong in your bottom paragraph. If Bioware wants to cater to one platform then they should make it for that 1 platform. If they make it multi we deserve the same treatment as everyone else. We are paying the same amount as you (for less I might add) and for them to give special treatment to one platform is risking offending customers down the line.
Yeah I wasn't meaning that pc gamers having such expectations were right or that they should be catered to as 1st class citizens while the consolers are treated differently.
Rightly or wrongly pc gamers feel that Bioware owe them more for a longer relationship of support. Although apart from the toolset I am not sure what you mean by getting less than pc? Or is that what you mean? It would really be almost impossible to give a toolset to 360/ps3 users (I would think).
However, in relation to dlc content (and this one in particular) if it is ready for the pc, which it appears has been the case since at least the 5th of Jan, then they should have released it. It isn't case of them treating the pc better in that regard - the pc just doesn't need all the certification that the consoles need.
They always said that the consoles would not negatively impact on the pc. If they are withholding the dlc because they have an agreement with MS/Sony for simultaneous release (seems possible with MS but not necessarily Sony) then they 'blatantly' lied to pc users. I say blatantly because they have been accused of lying about the release of the dlc, but it has likely been held back due to actual bugs rather than them just purely leading us on.
