I... am REALLY confused. Apparently I missed something...

Am I to understand that RtO was released, then there was some sort of a problem with it? Because some people sound like they've already played it... but I haven't seen it available to purchase in the last twenty-four hours... so... I'm super confused here.  Maybe my confusion is based on the fact that I only have the PC and PS3 versions of the game?  I don't know...

(And maybe this is a dumb question, but what is a "title update"?)

A title update is a patch, and RTO was released on the 360 by mistake, but was later removed, along with the patch, as they break elements of the game, ie.specializations.

You see this whole RTO delay issue has been a **** storm right from the start, its like anticipating the opening of a christmas present your dad bought for you, you open it only to find theres nothing inside  and before you can react, someone kicks you in the balls and you writhe in pain on the floor when your dad just stands there like a statue.

lol
I just had one of those right-as-you're-going-to-sleep brilliant ideas. At least I think it is. Alternatively, it may only sound like a great idea because I had it at 2:30 am. Anyway here it is.
A lot of people have been going on about thinking Bioware should offer some sort of "compensation" for this whole fubar operation. Personally, I love the idea, but s*** ain't gonna happen. We live in a capitalistic society, chances of them giving out the DLC for free or paying you back are not high. My idea is this: since the game update only caused a glitch on the 360, why not write up a new Achievement (no, I have no idea if that's complicated). Have the fix, when it comes out, detect if you had the glitchy game update when it overwrites. If you did gain an exclusive achievement, "Achievement Unlocked, Weathering the Storm - 5G: Survived the Return to Ostagar game update fiasco"
It'd be cool, 360 users all (or almost all) have a hard-on for Achievements, this would give those of us who had to deal with this whole nasty situation recognition for our grief, and it would give us an Achievement our friends couldn't unlock, so we'd be part of an elite group. Total PR turnaround, right there,

If I remember correctly, giving you guys achievements was one of the reasons it got delayed in the first place. So no. I don't want them adding in more achievements for 360 users. As a pc user, we all COULD have obtained RtO through illegal means, but we are trying to support them. If they added another delay just to add in yet another achievement for console users (in this case 360) I wouldn't be surprised if they had pc users in their droves turning to the illegal download.

Rightly or wrongly, as far as pc gamers are concerned Bioware wouldn't be where they were today without the pc fanbase. So they expect that Bioware should be catering to them first and foremost; not the consoles. Then again, it depends where Bioware sees their long term profit coming from

As much as  I love achievements (and I really do) I agree with you. Delaying it for 1 ridiculously easy achievement was just plain stupid.

Although you are wrong in your bottom paragraph. If Bioware wants to cater to one platform then they should make it for that 1 platform. If they make it multi we deserve the same treatment as everyone else. We are paying the same amount as you (for less I might add) and for them to give special treatment to one platform is risking offending customers down the line.

Return to Ostagar expected on PC during the day on January 13

Despite the good intention of Chris Priestly, January 15, still nothing.

It's unworthy of Bioware, I follow since a long time, especially the version that goes out will be exactly the same as January 5.

Next time, don't give a date and be sure of your choice, because such policies destroy your good image. Good day.

The thing that gets me mad is even if you clear your cache, you can unlock them but if you turn off the system they relock. You have to plat offline so they do not relock. I just hope this gets fixed because this breaks the game badly. Oh well I will just play KOTOR anf Jade Empire while I wait for DAO.

Sure, put the achievement out for PC gamers as well - "My saves were borked." That way all the PC gamers who had their saves glitched and lost all the time they put into unlocking specs can be recognized as well.

Oh wait...

The TU has been removed from XBL. You can clear your cache and play online fine. However, any saves you had when you played with the TU are borked. If you start a new game, you can unlock and keep specs.

He's not wrong at all. Sitting on the content for the PC sku, you as a developer has said on 3 occasions now will be available xx date just due to a 360 achievement/specialization bug isn't very good customer service to begin with.

I'm absolutely amazed how many people are willing to eat up a non informative update in regards to the PC version and in the same sense jump on anyone who can read between the lines. No Bioware, Chris or anyone else doesn't owe us anything but saying one thing and doing another isn't exactly great customer support either.

Next time Bioware, don't give dates at all if you don't plan on releasing content, if it takes this long to debug an hours worth of content either get more QA on board or communicate the issue better between staff to get the issues fixed in a more timely manner and in turn better communication channels can help inform the community better and quell the arguements/flames.  I can only imagine how many delays will be in store for The Awakening at the rate RTO is going.

So if you downloaded RTO (or any future update) and it completely glitched every one of your saves, you would have no problem with BW saying "Oh, never mind. We'll fix your problem once we do a minor update for the console players. After all, they've been waiting patiently for this minor thing."

Do you want Chris to pull some random, possibly wrong answer out of his rear? Do you really think the PR people at BW are so stupid as to think "We know exactly what the problem is, and we know exactly when it will be fixed. But we're not going to tell, since we like watching people have tantrums in the forums." You are demanding answers he probably doesn't have.

I agree, I can't imagine how all these delays are happening for a half hour long piece of content. I have my reservations that the expansion pack's deadline will be met at this point.

I have been a huge Bioware fan for many years, but even I cannot blindly ignore how badly this DLC release has been. I hope they're not planning to support Dragon Age for 2 years with initiatives like this.

Yeah I wasn't meaning that pc gamers having such expectations were right or that they should be catered to as 1st class citizens while the consolers are treated differently.

Rightly or wrongly pc gamers feel that Bioware owe them more for a longer relationship of support. Although apart from the toolset I am not sure what you mean by getting less than pc? Or is that what you mean? It would really be almost impossible to give a toolset to 360/ps3 users (I would think).

However, in relation to dlc content (and this one in particular) if it is ready for the pc, which it appears has been the case since at least the 5th of Jan, then they should have released it. It isn't case of them treating the pc better in that regard - the pc just doesn't need all the certification that the consoles need.

They always said that the consoles would not negatively impact on the pc. If they are withholding the dlc because they have an agreement with MS/Sony for simultaneous release (seems possible with MS but not necessarily Sony) then they 'blatantly' lied to pc users. I say blatantly because they have been accused of lying about the release of the dlc, but it has likely been held back due to actual bugs rather than them just purely leading us on.

I highly doubt a non existant title update for the PC version will corrupt my saves on the PC version. I feel the pain of the 360 users truly I do, but if the PC version is ready to go theres no sense on not making it available just to avoid ticking off 360 users.

No I don't expect some random wrong answer, nor am I "demanding" anything. hense my comment about better communication between the various teams involved (be it QA, post release content etc) It may help quell things while we wait. I don't see how thats so unreasonable to expect.

So "later today" on January 13th looked pretty much like a date to me, but maybe there are subtle differences that we people wo do not speak english as our native tongue do not understand...

What you don't seem to grasp is that the 360 glitch is related to the title update (patch); not the RtO dlc. This is clear because there are 100's upon 1,000's of pc users who decided they were unimpressed that Bioware was sitting on our dlc because of the consoles (and it appears the 360 achievement add in was the last delay) and they downloaded the RtO expansion illegally. I haven't seen anyone who did that complaining about spec lockouts or other issues. Thus proving the dlc itself is fine.

The real problem is the longer this goes on, the more it appears the dlc for pc is being held back to satisfy some kind of agreement Bioware/EA (I should really include EA in this because it wouldn't surprise me if this was an EA  agreement) made with MS about simultaneous release (sounds so dodgy at 4.30am). If that is the case, see my previous post about blatantly lying to us.

later today was correct UNTIL the 360 glitch became known. They wouldn't have had time to wait to see if there was a glitch before saying pc users could have it too. I have no issue with them not releasing it on the 13th as they said they would after MS forced their hand, because they needed to make sure it wasn't the RtO causing the problem. However, it is obvious that it isn't RtO with the issue, so they should now release it to pc users.

but if they have an agreement with MS in place, then they can't even if they wanted to. Although I would argue MS already broke the agreement when they released the dlc (by mistake or not) when they were not supposed to.

the fake deadlines are getting really old now.

i understand the need to create interest in this game over the xmas period, hence the initial fake release date.

i also understand the need to create an interest in this game over the easter period, hence the announcement over the expansion.

but seriously, who do you think you are kidding?

fools like myself who were stupid enough to buy points perhaps?

I haven't even finished the main game yet so I'm in no rush for the DLC.
