i understand the need to create interest in this game over the xmas period, hence the initial fake release date.

i also understand the need to create an interest in this game over the easter period, hence the announcement over the expansion.

but seriously, who do you think you are kidding?

fools like myself who were stupid enough to buy points perhaps?

There really is no evidence that they are deliberately giving us dates simply to generate interest. Problems do come up you know.

Quick question: i downloaded and played through RtO on my xbox with the patch installed, so 'ive lost all my specializations - is it possible to re-unlock them by just playing through the game like i did originally?

I wish I could sticky my posts so I wouldn't make them again and again. Ah well.

The idea that somehow, in any way, shape or form BioWare benefits from having to push back a release or take it back off the virtual shelves for a technical issue is beyond rediculous. They're having to continue to pay their people while the payment for said product is continued to be delayed. As to why no details on exactly what happened and why, see if you can find my previous post in the 50's. It's not because they hate you personally.

Holding back on releasing it is the responsible business thing to do. There have been, what, four DLCs so far plus a massive game? Is this everyones first experience with technology? While I know it can be comforting to armchair QB about how a bunch of people doing something we know absolutely nothing about can be, please keep a little perspective.

This is far from the worst thing to ever happen in the history of forever. That was Windows 2000. I'm just glad they're doing the ethical thing and holding back until the product is up to snuff instead of releasing it, taking the money and fixing after the fact.

As to testing, by the way? I would bet you cash money that this DLC got more QA than any of the food you've eaten in the last week. I've no doubt that internally there are some questions at BioWare why this issue was not caught before release but for privacy and liability reasons they will never and should never even begin to discuss details about that sort of thing.

I understand and agree with being frustraited. It's not like I don't want to give them my money in return for their product or that they would not in turn love to have my money. Some issues in life though are what is called 'gravity issues'. Things you can not control or influence. This is one of them. Pack an emotional parachute for when things don't go your own way or else you're going to end up unhappy a lot.

Feburary? Why does everyone forget that Feburary exists?

I'm past anger now, and I'm just at the stage of "Meh". Due to personal choice, I can't finish DAO on Sereda (my Dwarf warrior in the pic) because I want to do RtO before I finish the main quest. I'm at the stage where I can go to the Landsmeet, so I haven't got much longer to go. Either that or I finish the game on Sereda and get Cailan's armor on a different character.

He's not wrong at all. Sitting on the content for the PC sku, you as a developer has said on 3 occasions now will be available xx date just due to a 360 achievement/specialization bug isn't very good customer service to begin with.

So if you downloaded RTO (or any future update) and it completely glitched every one of your saves, you would have no problem with BW saying "Oh, never mind. We'll fix your problem once we do a minor update for the console players. After all, they've been waiting patiently for this minor thing."

I'm absolutely amazed how many people are willing to eat up a non informative update

Do you want Chris to pull some random, possibly wrong answer out of his rear? Do you really think the PR people at BW are so stupid as to think "We know exactly what the problem is, and we know exactly when it will be fixed. But we're not going to tell, since we like watching people have tantrums in the forums." You are demanding answers he probably doesn't have.

I highly doubt a non existant title update for the PC version will corrupt my saves on the PC version.

Probably not, but the PC does get patched, which is why I said "any future update."

I feel the pain of the 360 users truly I do, but if the PC version is ready to go theres no sense on not making it available just to avoid ticking off 360 users.

Point taken. I've just several PC players making comments like "why is BW wasting their time fixing the 360 gamers games. We want RTO now!"

The way I see it, BW didn't intend to put out a title update that glitched all the saves of any 360 player who got it. Wouldn't it be better to go over every line of code on the PC and PS3 versions of RTO to make sure nothing got slipped in there that will screw up those games? BW is already having a PR disaster with the 360 TU. They don't need another debacle because of an accident with PC or PS3 players.

People are also making the assumption that not releasing the PC and PS3 versions of RTO is connected to the 360 TU. RTO has already been delayed twice - including last week - so another delay is not impossible. I am not saying the events aren't connected. But they do not have to be.

hence my comment about better communication between the various teams involved (be it QA, post release content etc) It may help quell things while we wait. I don't see how thats so unreasonable to expect.

I suspect BW has learned a lesson about putting out firm updates and dates. (As others have said, I'm surprised they stated a release date for Awakenings.) I suspect there won't be a firm date until everyone at BW is satisfied everything is ready, which means I suspect the next firm update is "RTO will be release in 1 hour."

Clear your cache and delete all existing saves. New games will work as before, but you will have to unlock all specs again.

I don't really think that the release of ME2 will move the Dragon Age DLC team since they are a separate division of Bioware. If only it worked like that. Whichever way one slices it though, I think the chances of me picking up the DLC when ME2 is released are slim, and I expect the same will be true for anyone else who is buying ME2 at release.

That is all well and good, but last week when they messed up for the 2nd time regarding an estimated release date ie. the 5th, Chris stated that in his opinion they shouldn't give out dates until they were 100% certain they could reach those targets.

On the 13th he initially posted stating that they would do their best to get it out for the PC later in the day. The only post he did 'later in the day' was to indicate they were still working on it and since then he hasn't given any comment as to why it wasn't released as he stated it would. Worse still the title of the topic with the RtO update was altered to remove out anything regarding the PC version as though to cover up the mistake. Again nothing to state "Sorry guys we aren't going to be able to get it out on the PC today, we are doing our best to resolve the issue and will let you know when we are 100% certain it can be released." I believe that is all some would have liked to have seen them put and I imagine less people would be angry with them right now had they done that.

I've got faith in you guys, Bioware. I'm sad and a bit disappointed about how this whole fiasco has gone down, but I'm equally certain that however I feel about it you guys are feeling infinitely worse. Moreover, it does give me some comfort to know that you are working diligently to solve the problem. Keep up the great work, you guys have got my business on past credit alone for a long time to come.

I agree with Sir Ulrich. A post stating they are still working on the PC version would have saved this thread from a lot of useless flaming.
