I had downloaded the title update, but cleared my cache before I made it to level 14. I'm not having any problems so far...hopefully that means I'm going to be okay.

If not, I trust BW to make everything right. So far I think they've done everything to the best of their capabilities.

I don't care who is to blame, I'm just glad they figured out the bug before they put the DLC out to other platforms. As others have said, if it was just an xbox bug, I'd be willing to bet there would be PC and PS3 versions out already. *shrugs* Who am I though?

Again, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Juliana makes it through, I'm rather attached to her.

A bit off subject, but any word if the game breaking bug in Orzammar will be fixed in this update or with the dlc?

You actually don't know anything that you claim to. Today there was a scheduled 360 update (the title update). It is required to run RtO, so it is much more likely that someone at Bioware inadvertantly linked the update and the download. Certainly makes more sense than Xbox breaching contract for ****s and giggles.

First of all, you know nothing about what other people know or don't know. It's not even the first time something like this happens with Xbox Live.
Secondarily, if you really believe that Microsoft allows any direct control to third parties on their Xbox Live platform, and any content that's downloaded or viewed through it, I'm afraid you're a lil delusional.

Obviously they didn't breach their deal intentionally, but the error lies on Microsoft's side, as today's posts from Bioware quite clearly indicated.

RtO was advertised and offered for download through the game client, not the xbox dashboard, immediately after the title update this morning, so, yeah, I would believe that has a little more to do with the Bioware side of things than Microsoft. As for why RtO would be on the Live servers, chances are they were originally meant to launch tomorrow. Hell, until the Xbox issues, Bioware was all ready to roll out the PC version later today.

There has been no official announcement one way or the other to place blame. What we do know is that there is a pretty serious bug with an update that is required to run RtO on the Xbox. If Bioware didn't go back and make sure the PC and PS3 launches were clear of trouble at this point, it would be an even bigger screw up than it already is.

Like I said, and as you have admitted, your panties are just in a bunch because you didn't get your toy today. If it had been released on the PC with the specialization bug, you'd still be here crying about it.

You can't just download something to an Xbox from the internet... ALL content goes through XBOX Live... On a completely factory system anyway :)

Did I say that you could?

I bet the problem is one tinsey little line of code.. Which considering how much code there is to troubleshoot through might be a **** to find. Ah well I'll take quality over an earlier or timely release any day. I mean that's why blizzard is so successful as a developer they don't rush.

Then again Bioware is trying to release a steady stream of content for users, on a regular basis. Obviously it will have it's flaws int he beginning, until they prefect the art/science of it all.

Oh sure, I run a windows system, and have a 360 and use it regularly. That doesn't mean I have to approve of Microsoft's policies or actions. I don't remember signing such a clause when i made my M$ branded purchases.

If you must know yes it is playable but takes some work and there are some problems. Like movies and convos not working, showing up, or crashing.  This would be because the game is not coded for linux. So I could either run with the problems causing frustration, spend countless hours doing something that I have little expertise in (recoding the game), spend many hours screwing around with linux, or **GASP** play it on my window partition that I keep around soley for playing games.
Just because I use it does not mean I have to kiss Microsofts ass or blind myself to the obvious. It is far better then being stuck with a mac (no malice mac lovers I just prefer MS bs and linux to macs bs)

Now I am tired and going to bed. I suggest everyone go get some waffles and take some deep breaths.

By saying it would be more on Bioware's end that it came out early on Xbox 360, you are basically saying Bioware has the ability to circumvent Xbox Live and get content out straight through their game.

At this point my concern is for the people who already downloaded the content and are having the issues. Will another patch fix be made for them, or just a "proper" patch for those who haven't? I would consider those who already downloaded this content the die-hard fans for loving the game enough to go for the content the moment they had a chance, and their save games should be taken care of first.

Hoping BioWare understands that, people really need to give them a break and let them solve the problem.

By the way, those who are complaining and are PC loyalists, please give it a rest, seriously. The patch for Xbox was also intended to assist in running the RtO DLC, so how do you know there isn't one for PC and/or PS3 that would cause the same issue? There is a lot everyone outside of BioWare doesn't know. Relax and take a breather.

We're on this thread because the general thread on RtO was closed with a link saying to come here for info. Any other threads opened on the topic have been locked. Is that ok by you? Or do you want to bug Bioware to open another thread for anyone who isn't playing the game on the 360? I've got the consoles too, so it's not like I've got anything against them.

Don't get your hopes too high, greywardens.com has posted on their website that Return to Ostagar is delayed for the third time! No RTO today or tomorrow, even the day after that day or week!

Anything to do with M$ is a right pain. If you own all the available consoles out there you will notice that all of them EXCEPT the 360 has built in WiFi. PS3, WII, PSP, DS, all have WiFi.

want it for your 360? about 100 bucks.

Thank God... I was hoping that would happen at some point. Now I can post about how it is almost certainly something on the MS end that caused it to come out early without having to read your horribly poorly thought out remarks about how you want to see proof that it was MS fault... Once again I do not accuse MS of doing this on purpose... Good day...

Why are people saying that the DLC was delayed for a third time? The only time it was truly delayed was on the fifth. Today's "delay" is a result of a premature release on microsoft's part and Bioware's haste to try and get the content out for the other platforms in response. (Only to be foiled by a gamebreaking bug on the 360 version) It's not so much a delay as it is a cluster****.

The fact that I have the game on PC doesn't mean I don't have a 360 as well (i just like to play the best version of each game). I did check today, and RTO was indeed available through the marketplace dashboard, and that's how many downloaded it, so I'm afraid you're wrong.
This without counting that every single file that gets downloaded by an xbox 360 comes from xbox live, not from any other server.

There has been no official announcement one way or the other to place blame.

Today they clearly said that RTO was released "unexpectedly" on 360, if they didn't expect it, it's obvious that someone else released it. There's only one "someone else" in this picture, and that's Microsoft.

What we do know is that there is a pretty serious bug with an update that is required to run RtO on the Xbox.

Not really, what we do know is that "This title update introduced a previously undetected issue that causes
specialization classes to not work correctly in Dragon Age: Origins."
PC or PS3 have no such title update and as such I'd say that until contrary notice we're definitely to assume that they're free of the bug. If they're not, it's easy, they should just tell us. But until they do, there's no other option to believe, given what they did say.

You can keep your petty "panties in a bunch" taunts, they don't really belong to a civil discussion anyway.

That's not what I said at all. I imagine they had a hand in both updates, which also happen to be linked (the title update is required to run RtO). If someone accidentally put the RtO download offer within the title update, which was released (and scheduled to be released) today, and Microsoft had already put RtO onto their servers to prep for a later release (possibly tomorrow, seeing as how Bioware was ready to roll out the PC version today after the 'unexpected' release), then that could certainly explain the incident. It certainly makes more sense than the "exclusive release" conspiracy theories. Now, I don't know the specifics of what do into linking the client to the file on the Xbox LIVE servers, but I imagine it's not much more than Bioware calling up Microsoft and asking for the code. Hell, maybe Microsoft puts it in after, but it's pretty clear, at least from my experience early this morning, that the RtO access was granted by the title update.
