I CERTAINLY don't want a half-assed product being released because some people were so impatient they spammed every darned forum in this place because of their desire for a 5 buck dlc to be released on their say-so and not when Bioware deems it safe to release.

Er I hate to break it to you but what Abriael said is prolly 100% on the level here. Its not even a logicial stretch. They no doubt know the status of their own DLC, and at the very least have some form of tentative roadmap in getting the situation remedied.

First of all. Time to realize something:

Chris Priestly is a Community Manager. The Job of a community manager is not to decide what to say to the community, but to simply relay to the community what people higher up in the food chain decide that the community needs to know, while reporting back to them a summary of what the community raves about.
He gets to decide the wording of such communication (within limits), but he does not get to decide the contents.
In my experience in and around the gaming industry i've seen several community managers laid off because they gave to the community more info than what they were supposed to, or that quit their job because they didn't agree with their software house's communication policies.

So yeah, if you feel that there is some finger pointing to do due to the arguably abysmal communication policies held during this whole RtO debacle (and by now I'm sure you know that I do), you may want to point them above Chris' head, because pointing them at him is pointless (pardon the pun) and quite unfair.

Secondarily: seriously, lay off the piracy talk. I understand that publicly stating "I'm gonna get the pirated version!" will make you feel high and mighty in your "punishing" bioware for making you wait and screwing up their communication. The side-effect is that getting banned is only going to punish you. Capiche?

Now, having gotten that off my chest, I'm going to go on and ask our valiant community manager my usual questions, hoping that he will report to his superiors that the smokescreen is starting to get stale, and that now that the damage has been abundantly done, it's time to radically change the communication policies to full (or almost) transparency, in order to control such damage. I know, slim hope, but we haven't much left.

1: What is the status of the PC version of the DLC? Is it ready for launch?
a: If yes, when will it be launched? Why it's being held back?
b: if no, what issues have been found? What is the roadmap to solve them? What is a reasonable timeframe? One Day? A few days?  a week? A few weeks? months?
c: If you found nothing wrong but you're still checking, how long are you planning to continue testing before the PC version will be considered clear? Will it be released immediately then, or will you wait for the other platforms? if so, why?

2: What is the roadmap and reasonable timeframe for the release of the fixed Xbox 360 version?

3: Can we expect a different outcome with further DLC and the Expansion? What is Bioware going to do to ensure that?

I think we all know that Bioware has at least a reasonable idea of the answers to the questions above. Personally I think it's quite evident that continuing to keep everyone in the dark after three delays, a majorly borked release and a series of misleading announcement that promped us to pay for a yet non-existant product, is only going to increase the feeling of unrest, and damage the image of Bioware as a brand with their customers. Again, it's time to step up a little on the communication, instead of giving the sime tired "we're working on it, we are not telling you anything else" answer that doesn't include any information beyond the "good morning, it's 10 am, have a good day". I still hope this is going to change, and hopefully I won't be disappointed further.

Thank you.

Umm, you pretty much asked the exact same questions that have been asked a million times, but with way more text.

Well I was hoping for the poor folks working on this project at BioWare that they would have had it out at some point today because I figured after their past 2 weeks they could really use a weekend to unwind with a couple crisp Canadian beers.

Instead they'll just be subjected to another weekend of irate banter from people who can't get on with their lives until RtO is out arguing with the people for whom BioWare can do no wrong and have handled this fiasco flawlessly.

Good luck with it and have a good weekend! I'm sure you guys need it now.

...Except he isn't talking about any conspiracies. He's talking about stuff that SHOULD be mentioned to the customers but isn't provided until a full day or more after-the-fact. I honestly don't see how you can claim he's making a "smokescreen" when he's not really trying to hide anything, but instead is showing his annoyance at how inefficient Bioware is at keeping their consumers up to date. Chris is trying his damndest to keep the peace here, but there's little he can do if he's not allowed by his bosses to explain the situation to us, and as such they're the ones messing up here.

Oh and....

But we could have all noticed as well that they do not want to answer those questions for whatever reason. In my opinion asking a question someone doesnt want to answer over and over again is exercise in futility.

This.  :)

The romans used to say: "repetita iuvant", literally, "repetition helps". Expecially when you exchange the screaming and raving with fair requests expressed in a polite form.

It may well be...mentioned to the customers..when they are good and ready to tell us.   I would think however, the investigations into this matter take precedence over the needs, wants, gripes, conspiracy theories of the forum goers.

If they're not willing to give out  so-called "real info" at this time then you're not gonna get it no matter how many times you spam this thread and DEMAND it.   We've been through this before right?

Some people will bend over and shut up despite seeing something that they deem unfair. Some over will continue  pushing until they manage to budge the boulder, as little that motion could be. Sometimes they'll fail, sometimes they'll manaage.
Personally bending over isn't my forte. And it's pretty damn sure that the continuous "let them work, poor boys, they're doing what they can" speeches aren't helping anyone. On the contrary, the more you support an error, the more the people erring will think that their ways are justified.

Personally, I find that encouraging a software house to think that putting up a smoke screen and keeping their paying customers in the dark after three delays, a major screwup and all that came with it, is a quite damaging attitude.

Please present me with an example of any sort, related or otherwise, of consumer complaint fixing a technical issue on its own or, say, changing any contractual obligations between BioWare/EA and MS for product release.

Justification for the 'attitude' has already been discussed at length. Agree or not. I find it justified. In the long run it's better not to deal with people getting what must by its nature be incomplete information instead of just the details that impact them directly. Like precise release dates when it's available again.

I realize that it can feel very disempowering to be a consumer in a situation like this. You want to buy the product and they're not selling it to you yet. Do you truly believe that this is malicious? Intentional? Some product of gross incompetence? Considering that you are as oblivious as everyone who isn't working at BioWare to the reasoning behind it, don't you find justifying that sort of stance a bit silly?

None of us know or will ever know all the exact details. Nor should we. If you're just here to find a shoulder to cry on, that's cool. We're all eager to play the DLC. Please realise though that it's difficult to empathize with a position of assumed empowerment over a situation that we all are 100% ignorant of the details about - and must by the nature of the issue remain so until after its release. Nothing you do or say will change the situation in any way. I realize that is not comforting to you. I wish there was some information that could be provided to you short of, say, months of training and years of experience working for BioWare, that would make you more comfortable with the realities of the situation.

Unfortunately there is not. Try having cookies.

I guess people feel that wall of text posts are way more important for bioware to answer than the other zillion questions that are exactly the same.

He was updating a previously stated list of requests. Really, his list was the only one I could agree with from a PR and CR frame of mind.

Without these kinds of posts, the devs wouldn't be able to answer the customer's more accurately when they DO give information.

Walls of text and quotes inside the quotes inside the quotes - with "enchantment :wizard:" in the end.
This entire forum is such /popcorn material.

But then I noticed the same thing with my kids when they were very little. They thought saying "gimme ice cream" 100 times in row will make difference on my decision about what they get for supper. Thank god they grew out of it fast.

Hysteria? I'm quite curious to see you quote where in my posts there is any hysteria.

As of self-importance? I'd rather talk about entitlement. I don't deem myself important in any way besides the fact that I'm a paying customer. My sense of entitlement goes only as far as the fact that I already paid for a product due to some misleading communcation, and I honestly feel entitled to know when and how i will receive what I paid for. That is all.

Hysteria in your actions (spamming forum with the same wall of text over and over when you know you won't get the results you are demanding)

I mean how foolish of us all.. From the beginning we should blast how other people ask the question and who the question is directed (the only one who comes on here to answer such questions.) THEN ask the same questions yet in Gothic Novel form.. surely they will answer then.

Followed by Enchantment of course Posted Image

check blue bioware tag at the start of this thread..all the info we currently have is there, which isn't much but what we have to work with thus far.
