360 USERS: I can confirm that you can remove the spec bug by clearing the system cache. You need an old save so you can unlock one spec again, then shut down the system. After rebooting, all your specs should be back. I have all DLC, including RtO, and this does not appear to affect them. So for anyone stuck with a broken game, you now have a fix for it without doing any damage to your system. The only consequence of clearing your cache is re-downloading any updates for other games. But since the DA:O title patch has been removed, that's not a problem for this game. :)

I CERTAINLY don't want a half-assed product being released because some people were so impatient they spammed every darned forum in this place because of their desire for a 5 buck dlc to be released on their say-so and not when Bioware deems it safe to release.

Er I hate to break it to you but what Abriael said is prolly 100% on the level here. Its not even a logicial stretch. They no doubt know the status of their own DLC, and at the very least have some form of tentative roadmap in getting the situation remedied.

And if so..I hate to break it to you........they aren't gonna tell us ..anything til they're good and ready.

So quoting a forum poster in this thread "exercise in futility".

Right, which is quite honestly terrible customer support. You may enjoy that sort of thing as you seem to be, personally I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first two delays. It is however quite stale at this point to argue with people who regardless of any logic thrown their way, they instead ignore it, and call people impatient and conspiracy theorists.

Hysteria? I'm quite curious to see you quote where in my posts there is any hysteria.

As of self-importance? I'd rather talk about entitlement. I don't deem myself important in any way besides the fact that I'm a paying customer. My sense of entitlement goes only as far as the fact that I already paid for a product due to some misleading communcation, and I honestly feel entitled to know when and how i will receive what I paid for. That is all.

if there's one thing I learned about the gaming market is that fanboys are the least helpful entities to a software house's growth.

Hysteria in your actions (spamming forum with the same wall of text over and over when you know you won't get the results you are demanding)

Thats akin to a small child stamping his feet and having a hissy fit.

Repeatedly calling him childish is akin to one kid calling another immature.

I have said it once...please read back through your posts.  Nevertheless, repeating the same action over and over and expecting different results is also rather ...nonsensical.

Now go back to your adoration of Abrieal...hope you two live happily ever after. :P

N'est ce pas?

You seem to assume that giving us some real and up to date information on the status of such investigations would make them "waste time" on those investigations themselves.
I'm afraid that's pretty delusional. You think that the people doing the investigations aren't giving their superiors detailed reports on the status of the work? Superiors that are, by the way, the same superiors that give Chris the heads up on what he has to say. It only takes wanting to communicate them. It won't rip the coders off their desks to run to your doorstep and tell you what's up.

Please present me with an example of any sort, related or otherwise, of consumer complaint fixing a technical issue on its own or, say, changing any contractual obligations between BioWare/EA and MS for product release.

Who said the consumer complaint fixes technical issues? I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but consumer complaint is in it's own insight, and some tend to find insight useful. Communication is a part of a company's performance towards their customers, and I'm providing feedback on that.
As for "changing" any contractual obligation, there's no need to change any (despite the fact that Microsoft already breached their contractual obligations, accidentally or not, by releasing a product before the given time), if there's any in place, it only takes saying so. In that way the customer will know who to blame for the fact that he's not receiving the product he paid for.

Justification for the 'attitude' has already been discussed at length. Agree or not. I find it justified.

Good for you, and just as much as you feel entitled to come to this forum over and over to state that you find it justified (in my opinion, with an attitude that damages us all, by helping Bioware feel entitled to keep us in the dark more in the future if this situation were to repeat), I come and say that I find it damaging and unfair.
Luckily, this forum isn't restricted to the fanboys, even if some would like it so, it seems.

I realize that it can feel very disempowering to be a consumer in a situation like this. You want to buy the product and they're not selling it to you yet. Do you truly believe that this is malicious? Intentional?

I find your willingness to recur to continuous strawman arguments a bit funny, but I will humor you. Who ever said that Bioware is being malicious in not selling us the prouct? What I'm saying is that they handling their communication wrong in keeping us in the dark about the reasons behind that. There's absolutely no mention of malice in my posts.

None of us know or will ever know all the exact details. Nor should we. If you're just here to find a shoulder to cry on, that's cool. We're all eager to play the DLC. Please realise though that it's difficult to empathize with a position of assumed empowerment over a situation that we all are 100% ignorant of the details about - and must by the nature of the issue remain so until after its release.

Excuse me, but who says that? You continue to say that we MUST be kept in the dark for some ancestral and mysterious reason, but there's absolutely no reason for Bioware to be THAT tight lipped. On the contrary, some actual, real information on what their plans and roadmaps are would put people at ease, since they won't need to come to this forum to check every 2 hours for information that isn't here.

Nothing you do or say will change the situation in any way.

So say you, I wish you an happy bending over. :D

1: What is the status of the PC version of the DLC? Is it ready for launch?
a: If yes, when will it be launched? Why it's being held back?
b:
if no, what issues have been found? What is the roadmap to solve
them? What is a reasonable timeframe? One Day? A few days?  a week? A
few weeks? months?
c: If
you found nothing wrong but you're still checking, how long are you
planning to continue testing before the PC version will be considered
clear? Will it be released immediately then, or will you wait for the
other platforms? if so, why?

2: What is the roadmap and reasonable timeframe for the release of the fixed Xbox 360 version?

3: Can we expect a different outcome with further DLC and the Expansion? What is Bioware going to do to ensure that?

So what are you expecting to get out of this? Some sense of control or influence? Here, let me answer them for you with all the same accuracy that BioWare can reasonably provide right now:

1: Currently the PC version of the DLC is unreleased and will be released as quickly as possible. Given that there were unforseen issues with the previous release date estimates we've made the decision to hold off on further estimates to avoid repeating the same mistake.

2: It's too soon to relate that with precision but be certain it will be resolved as quickly as possible. As it involves vetting through MS not all aspects of that are within our control.

3: Given that the original release and all other DLCs already released did not experience the same issues, yes you can expect an experience more akin to all the others you've had prior to this one. The mistakes involved are being reviewed and steps are being taken to ensure the exact same issues do not happen again. BioWare would love to be able to promise that their software, unique in all the world, will always be released in the future on time and without bugs but that is unfortunately not realistic. They will (we hope) continue to error on the side of caution and delay release to ensure product quality instead of releasing early to collect revenue and fix after the fact.

Does that make you feel better? If you have business experience than you must realize that A: educating customers beyond the bare minimum just creates questions and confusion and that B: privacy and liability laws and policy will prevent any business from being able to identify detailed causes/individuals until well after the fact if at all.

I vote with my dollar. If it's not worth the investment I will spend it elsewhere. If it is, I will purchase it. Demanding resources be expended in keeping me up to date on product development and internal policy on its resolution is both pointless and serves only to inappropriately inflate a sense of self-importance. What IS important is that the issues get resolved as quickly as possible and that the product is released in the best quality possible. How that is accomplished is an internal business matter for BioWare.

So, let's take a look at this from a more realistic standpoint.

For you, as a consumer:

1. What are the precise technical issues you are willing to accept in a released game product?

2. What is the exact pricing breakdown you'll support for products? i.e. will you pay more for a game and exactly how much more to have it custom developed, packaged and released for just your platform so that the developers are not tied to MS/XBOX360 or anyone else to get the exact content you want tested and out to you as quickly as possible?

3. What is a tentative roadmap for delays you can accept for products of DA:Os quality and at what point, precisely, will you decline to purchase or play these products due to technical delays?

First of all. Time to realize something:

Now, having gotten that off my chest, I'm going to go on and ask our valiant community manager my usual questions, hoping that he will report to his superiors that the smokescreen is starting to get stale, and that now that the damage has been abundantly done, it's time to radically change the communication policies to full (or almost) transparency, in order to control such damage. I know, slim hope, but we haven't much left.

1: What is the status of the PC version of the DLC? Is it ready for launch?
a: If yes, when will it be launched? Why it's being held back?

I think we all know that Bioware has at least a reasonable idea of the answers to the questions above. Personally I think it's quite evident that continuing to keep everyone in the dark after three delays, a majorly borked release and a series of misleading announcement that promped us to pay for a yet non-existant product, is only going to increase the feeling of unrest, and damage the image of Bioware as a brand with their customers. Again, it's time to step up a little on the communication, instead of giving the sime tired "we're working on it, we are not telling you anything else" answer that doesn't include any information beyond the "good morning, it's 10 am, have a good day". I still hope this is going to change, and hopefully I won't be disappointed further.

Thank you.

Very wise words indeed - The confidence regarding Bioware has suffered a tremendous blow in my little world. The major lack of communication is BIG mistake. People's patience would have been much wider, if they/we were told what's been happening - And what to exspect next ...
This is beginning  to look/feel like HellgateLondon, when things were starting to go down the drain ...

You mean like you posting on this thread over and over for days and calling childish, hysterical or similar nice definition any paying customer that dares to require a more transparent communication from a game developer?

I never called anyone a child, please show some reading comprehension.
I said that repeating the same thing ad nauseatum while none pays attention to what you have to say reminds me of my kids demanding something they knew they wont get. I never pointed a finger at anyone, but if you found yourself in above description its your problem then, not mine.
