I searched a bit and I found no results, so I'm going to go ahead and post this here -

What's the easiest way to get the weapons that you want / need? I've heard some people say that maxing out your uncommon/common weapons first, then attempting to max out rare/ultra-rare is the easiest way, but it seems time consuming and expensive. Anyone have any ideas on how in the world you end up seeing people with things - particularly - such as the Harrier X?

I can't even get my hands on a Harrier, let alone ten times.

Any help in regards to this 'predicament' would be appreciated, as I'm looking to move into Platinum games ASAP.

The easiest way to obtain the weapons you want is NOT wanting any weapons.

Reverse psychology ftw.

There is no easy way.

Only comes down to chance.

That's Monster Hunter logic, and it worked damn well on there. Is ME3 utilizing the desire sensor as well or something?

Step 1: Obtain goats/llamas
Step 2: Obtain more goats/llamas
Step 3: Sacrifice said goats/llamas
Step 4: ??????
Step 5: Receive Shuriken II

Now repeat that cycle just about 10,000 more times.

No trick, except only installing DLC with the weapon you want. However, you will still have to deal with the base game's uncommons, rares, and ultra rares

To increase your chances you can remove dlc that the items you want are not in when buying packs. However you still can unlock the base items that were available day one. Maxing common/uncommon just means you wont get them in PSP,SP, Reserve, and Arsenal packs. The drop rate however for rare and ultra rare does not get any better.

Accumulate A few millions, desactivate the DLCs that does not contain the weapon you want, relog into the game, and spend your credits.

you won't gain any weapon that are in the DLC you have desactivated, meaning you have far higher probability to unlock the weapon you want.

You are forced to use a random chance item store. Just buy the 99k packs, arsenal has a slightly better chance for weapons. Unfortunately there are several dozen rare and ultra rare weapons so good luck getting a particular one.

Sounds like a good idea, not that I'm proactive enough to do it - thanks.

While it wouldn't increase the chances of getting the rares/ultra-rares per se, would it not simply narrow down the list and thus provide a better chance at the very least? To clarify, would having all the uncommons/commons at X not simply give me a better chance of getting what I want since they won't appear in the SP's anymore? Or does that just leave a chance for character cards popping up instead of weapons? I'm trying to figure out the formula behind the drop rates and how they work after you've managed to negate the need/use of a particular item, much besides character cards given their incessant desire to pop up when you don't need them.

Correct by removing DLC is just narrows the list of weapons down to the ones you want. So if you buy arsenal packs with removed dlc and you want a rare you will have a good chance but for UR you could max out all of the available rares with what dlc you left before you got that UR. Thats what I meant by the drop rates. The common/uncommon maxing just makes their slots available to other items. The store loves to troll people :P

Step 1: Play lots of matches.

Step 2: Use credits to buy packs.

Step 3: Repeat.

Fool! The Ritual must be completed in Esperanto, not latin. It's supposed to be "Por nia granda sinjoro RNG oferi tiuj infanoj en via nomo".

@Arkhira - But if you did max out common/uncommons, that would mean that your fifth slot ( the only one to get ultra-rares 99% of the time ) would be open more commonly for them, even if it would more commonly be filled up by rares of whatever other sort, no? I've only got a stark idea of it, but from what I've read around and based on my own analysis, you can use spectre packs to unlock ultra rares more easily if you just spam them while you got an ultra rare if you did. According to someone else you have a 4% chance or so with a spectre pack to get an ultra-rare, and while that doesn't necessarily mean that 100 packs would mean 4 ultra-rares, it does mean that there is a ~96% chance on at least one of them to have it, even if the game will opt to troll you instead and go, "here, have a rare at 4% chance."

In any case, the reason I've been wondering how to get particular weapons more easily is because I do want that Harrier and I have about a thousand other UR's that I got from Veteran/Reserves packs, only ever bought two or three Arsenal packs and didn't get much from them at all. I can't do platinum speed runs as it was suggested as I have no viable guns, nor the skill to do so quite yet. I do not have good mods or equipment yet either. Still, I'd like that Harrier if I haven't stressed it enough and you see people running around with them all the time with them at max level, I'm just wondering how they did that with an N7 rating of 1000 or less, and with next to no challenges complete. Is it luck, or is there some sort of confangled way that you can get them on a much greater, easier basis much besides "just keep buying packs if you see UR's." 'cause... that's not quite reliable. I mean the packs are set up so that the random seed generator is actually a "give these types of items in the current store front" generator, but still.

@Starwolf - That would probably increase my chances of getting the stuff that I do want tenfold, however I've barely even seen a good 90% of the equipment, let alone having any of it at level 1 even.

You must BELIEVE you will get it. You have to erase ALL doubt in your mind. You WILL get it if you 100% without a DOUBT believe you will get it.

Seriously, I did that last night with a Reserves Pack, BELIEVING (yes, it must be in all caps) that I would get a UR in it. I got two.

Sacrifice a goat, cover yourself in virgin blood, then do the macarena.

If done correctly, your preferred drop rate should improve by about 1~2%. You're welcome.

@Dullahan - That was inspiring, I feel like I just got prepped for a boxing match. "You gotta believe in yourself, Rocky! You gotta go in theah, and you gotta BELIEVE yous gonna knock that suckah out!" Dun dunna duna dun dun dunna dunna dun dun dun. DUN DUNNNNN DUNNNNAAAA DUHHHH... Ahem. Good work, sir. I shall attempt this very shortly.

@BQ - Money err'whurr, gimme some dat money.

@Apl - I covered myself in the blood of a thousand dragons and only received a single plate scale; virgins are much harder to find and goats scream too loudly, what makes you think I want a 1~2% increase for that much trouble? You must be shigglegitsing.
