It's a double edged sword, imo.

On one hand having a goal is important, and the trolling keeps goals ahead of us.
On the other hand, making some progress towards it that isn't frustrating is important. The trolling seems to do a bit too good of a job at keeping the goal away.

Both ends of the prism are important.

It doesn't have to be one, or the other, being trolled, or instant gratification. There can be a better middle ground between them, no?

This is basically what I would say.

RNG is a good thing, in the right amounts.

No. I play the game in spite of the RNG Store.

I managed to max my manifest about six weeks before Reckoning. It was great. Play for fun, without credits and the store even being in the back of my mind.

Now Reckoning DLC weapons and the Promotional weapons, I have 41 unlocks to go after my post DLC spending spree.

Doesn't make it better, just makes me conscious of the credits I'm getting for the game. Since credits have a bug where you can lose them after a match, I also have to pay attention as to whether or not the credits were awarded. Much prefer not giving a rats' ass about the credits and just play for fun.

tl:dr: The RNG Store doesn't keep me playing, the game keeps me playing.

R U kidding me?!?!?

If not for the store, I could play for fun, and with decent weapons, I could play kits I cannot otherwise make work.

A Harrier X makes any class playable (and enjoyable).

At first it did.

Now I just play for fun because I know that it will still be an eternity before my UR's are maxed.

i sure as hell would play it more, as i would have less of the "meh, RNG isnt gonna give me anything anyway, so might was well go something else for a while" moments, after a game with PuG's ends up in me carrying people who would barely survive silver.

The store and the lack of the things I need to play is why I am stopping playing. Just got enough patience to sit through one gold match, with NO MEDIGELS. So i did not die once if I did, well obviously instant stomp. So I finally can not rage one match. Get my 99k credits....finally.

Seeing as I dont play much anymore i really had a choice go for a reserves pack and try to get the characters from recknonng I need, or go for a jumbo, and just try and sit through another game. Well I figure seeing as I have ZERO medigels surely I will get some with the reserves pack.

Spent the 99k on reserves and got NOTHING I needed. Just reminded me how pathetic this really is. Not one medigel even for gods sake. as a consolation prize put some medigels in a 99k box. Just beyond fathoming why they troll like this, what is the point? Having medigels is a requirement in this game. Bloody sick of it. Just got downed rezszing someone in second game, and I get stomped of course, no medigels nothign I can do. So I quit.

And I mean that is about my experience with this game mostly is just alt-f4 in rage and quit. So much fun.

I would play more if it wasn't for the store. It takes the fun out of the game when you are grinding out Plat. and Gold runs to try in the hope that the 11 weapon cards that you actually want out of the 110 you have left will pop up.

If the store didn't suck and I had a Lancer X (well a Lancer I at this point for me), I would run a Lancer GI all day every day on Gold and Silver and just enjoy my time using my favourite kit and my favourite gun.

This.

I've actually almost quit a few times because of the rng store.

Case in point would be from a couple months before last dlc.  I blew about 2.5 million with maxed manifest, including consumables, except for the UR weapons and I got exactly 0 weapons. I have a few newly released UR weapons at level 3 and yet no Harrier II.  I even spent about 7.5 million creds before the last dlc dropped in hopes that I would get a harrier due to fewer weapons to actually drop.  I got 19 UR drops with several drops of the same few weapons I never use.  Seriously didn't think I could have a Valiant X, Crusader VIII, Hurricane VI and also a lowly near-useless Harrier I (too heavy, no ammo) before Promos went UR.

Sorry I turned this into a personal rant on rng store.  Will remedy that......

tl;dr----see quote above

For me the line was crossed when I could not unlock all the reckoning characters even after putting 20 dollars into the store just into reserves packs. And not even getting one character at all. Think that was the final straw.

I'd play more as I feel trying to the best weapons takes all the fun out of it for me. If I had everything at X or just had it I wouldn't mind playing and getting consumables.

There was a time when several of the UR weapons weren't very good compared to Rare weapons, but back then I still had a lot of Rares to obtain, so it didn't matter to me much.

Then I felt BioWare did a good job bringing the weaker UR weapons up to where they needed to be.  For example, the Wraith, Javelin, and Black Widow all received substantial buffs to where they were finally worthy of being URs.  Once I had maxed everything except URs then, the quality of the URs was high enough to where I was motivated to max them out.

Now, however, we're back at the original situation, and it's now even worse, with BioWare adding several weapons to the UR pool that really aren't powerful enough to be there.  At this point, I am not at all motivated to unlock at max these weapons, which is very much in contrast to how I felt even a few weeks ago.  The current state of the UR weapons is actually turning me off from the game.  I'm still enjoying playing with the new characters, but in a few weeks I probably won't be playing this game much anymore.  If I felt the UR weapons were worth obtaining, then I probably would keep playing.

No. As a matter of fact, I play less because I'm tired of everything I never really liked about ME3 MP.

After I maxed my manifest, I noticed that I still needed to go to the troll store to get consumables so I could play platinum properly. So, I gave up playing platinum. Dear Troll Store, go **** yourself with a nucular missle. But, first, get the **** off my planet. Instead of being a slave to the troll store, I just down shifted to where I had no need for the troll store.

Currently, I'm in no hurry to max my manifest. If I max it, I max it. If I don't, I don't. Most of the new content is cruft and filler anyway.

I play silver, which is about all the bugs, and clunk, and enemy BS I can stand. Someday, the servers will shut down or a better game will come out and I'll finally move on. In the mean time, I'm making EA pay for the electricity on their skinner box.

I don't take kindly to psyops.

Of course I would. I haven't even finished the challenges yet.

Heck, even if I'd finished "everything", I've got friends who are nowhere near that point, and I'd still play with them for fun.

Maxed manifest or not I'd still play. Tbh I kinda wish I didn't have a maxed manifest. Unlocking new weapons gave me a sense of progression.

After unlocking the Claymore X - which didn't take too long - I didn't give a fart about the BS RNG crap. It should be a pain in the ass if you fancy some UR weapon though, but those who do don't deserve sympathy anyway.

I would play more if the progression system was actually good.

Instead, I actually play SP more than MP since I have control over what weapons I can upgrade.

Yeah, the urge to get my next UR kept me playing. However it's the new characters that really brought me back. Now that there's no more DLC I think I'm going to gradually stop playing within the next month or so.

To be honest, I'm no longer playing for unlocks. At the current rate, I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever maxing my manifest anyway.

So, once I'm done with the challenges, I'll probably stop playing pugs and just play when RL friends are online and want a game.

If I felt I actually had a chance at maxing my manifest I might keep playing longer.

I am still playing this game and will continue to do so. At least until the servers go down or ME4 is released. Which ever comes first.

Unlocking things are not my main purpose either..
but everytime I get that sweet sweet black card, I cannot deny it`s still a nice reward.

Once this manifest is maxed, the game becomes more enjoyable without stress, but that black card sure will be missed. (but not the bad RNG trolling !)
