According to the BioWare community, YES, Geth do have souls:

Posted Image

We all know from Platinum MultiPlayer and Mass Effect lore that Geth Primes/Colossus are serious business. (I realize that a Possessed Praetorian/Scion is even more serious, but lore/cannon wise you've killed them already.)

Geth don't have any of the pathetic, pitiful weaknesses that organics have. (Bathroom, food, water, sleep, socializing, wants, needs, etc. etc.)

They are only limited by supplies and the amount of Geth. With the Full AI upgrade they are like EDI but in a Prime/Colossus platform.

They make WAY better soldiers than the Quarians, and with their full AI upgrades, won't be decieved by Harbinger because like EDI, self preservation would kick in, only this time AGAINST the Reapers not with them.

So, with full AI upgrades: Shouldn't Geth units have Souls? or At the VERY least deserve saving?

Thoughts?

Sincerely,
Xbox Live GT: Da Don Giovanni

*PS: Keep up the great debate we have going here. (Picture is from PAX East. BioWare Infographic.)

The quarians are better if you destroyed the heretics, the geth are better if you rewrote them.

The Geth due to larger fleet and more advance weaponry.

I think a lot of people who didn't play the first game really sided with the Geth because they didn't see what a threat they were. ME3 does a lot to show only one side of the conflict and really make the quarians the villains.

Logically, I'd pick the Quarians because, despite their idiocy, they're sentient to begin with.
Still, I'd rather go with the Geth. No real reason, I just like them better.

By default, most people will side with the quarians because they're organic. Bioware needed to even the balance.

The geth are just defending themselves. The quarians are the aggressors. Tali is my LI. Id still choose to save the Geth.  (but Id be crying like a little **** the entire time)

"Geth don't have the pathetic weaknesses organics have". No they don't, they have their own unique set of weaknesses. Hacking is a serious issue with the Geth, and the reapers are pretty darn good at it. They are also not the most trustworthy of allies either.

War assett wise, they are about even as well (admittedly war assetts are really not something to go by), and while the Geth provide unquestioned firepower superiority, the Migrant Fleet offers unrivaled logistical superiority. The whole reason you are dragged in to the Quarian/Geth conflict is because Hackett needs ships to evacuate and resupply colonies while the Turians are fighting. Geth ships don't even have life support. In the end, you just have to go with your gut, who do you believe has the moral high ground, and who you think would be more advantageous to the war effort, the Geth and their firepower, or the Quarians and their logistics?

not true the geth concensous showed the Quarian's giving there lives defending the Geth when they gained true artifical intelligence so that they would not be destroyed, the issue was that the government wanted them dead and not enough of the people spoke out against this.

It is one of those things where the people against it died for there ideals and some who stayed quiet and allowed this genocide to occur. (or attempted)

If it really came down to war assets, I don't know.

Morally, I would pick the quarians. I couldn't cause the extinction of an entire race of beings with a rich culture and history.

Quarians started the war, the Geth as was stated DEFENDED themselves and didn´t try to eliminate the quarians, they let them escape....

in terms of historical justice I would choose the Geth, sorry Tali :(

A reaper IFF which it's only function was to use relays more accurately managed to signal the collectors.

A whole lot of reaper software went into the geth. Even if Bioware didn't think of it all I can see with geth with reaper code is sleeper agents. And you know the saying: better safe than sorry

I would pick the Quarians if I had to actually choose. Fortunately, I haven't had to choose.

(I'm running through a FemShep playthrough and didn't pass the Dialogue check between Legion & Tali in ME2. Even if you right the wrong it still counts against you in the rep check on Rannoch.)

Thoughts?

You have obviously not thought this through. They need fuel (in some form), and they need some kind of hardware maintenence. Synthetics have their own limitation too. Also, if they did not have any socializing wants/needs then Legion would have never communicated with Shepard or acted as a politition, and on Legions loyalty mission he explains about them being connected to a server.

If I had to choose, I'd pick the quarians, because of Destroy.

That and the only geth I ever cared about was Legion. The rest of them were high caliber a-holes.

If there were no peace option, I think choosing the Quarians would be better for the galaxy. I imagine there would be rampant anti-synthetic sentiment after the Reaper War and the galaxy doesn't need another possible conflict after already getting nearly obliterated.

And suddenly I realize this should apply all the time, even with the peace option. I may have to rethink Rannoch, if I force myself through the main game again.
